Yeah, agreed. I know that it fits the overall SW timeline and all, but damn, that was some ugly CG work.

the after credits scene was cool, though, and I think the new series is going to be fun

For a famous intersteller crime organization, they have some SERIOUS security issues.

the CGI was ok, though they weirdly made Luke look younger than he was in ROTJ. i woulda thought he'd look a little more rough, especially after being blasted with force lightning.
the lip sync was a problem though. i'm pretty sure he didn't move his lips at all for his first couple lines of dialogue. so he came across a bit wooden, but hey, coulda been worse, at least it wasn't hayden christensen.
besides, it's LUKE FRIKKIN' SKYWALKER. who else could train Baby Yoda other than Yoda's last student? and it's not like there's a whole lot of other Jedi around to take bop (though with every new show or movie they make in this universe, it seems like there are more and more who survived the so-called Jedi Purge).

I thought it was pretty badass. I never thought I'd get to see Hamill as Luke ever again. My brother and I fight all the time, because he absolutely hates The Last Jedi, and I like it mostly. In my opinion, it feels like this episode showed that Luke was more like his father than even he realized, and that his non-violent solution at the end of TLJ seems even more powerful to me now.

well, they pulled the same trick as the prequels by having the Jedi mostly just kill a bunch of droids, so they don't look like a gang of homicidal psychopaths. they can be nonviolent mostly towards living creatures, while slicing apart hundreds of glorified toasters. it might have been more problematic if Luke had to murder a bunch of stormtroopers to get to the child.

I want to see more Rogue One style SW movies. real movies made for grown-ups. let Blomkamp(sp?) take a crack at one, or Danny Boyle, or if they REALLY wanted to take SW to another level pay Villanueva whatever he wants to make one

I got the impression that Bib Fortuna had sort of let things fall into disarray and security was lax, there were no rules, but nothing was that good for anyone. Boba's back and will right the ship, so to speak.

it's not like security was all that great to begin with. Lando got in, R2 smuggled a lightsaber in, and Leia walked in with a thermal detonator. it's a wonder Jabba lasted as long as he did.
