Super Bowl Commercials

Every year the Superbowl is huge for ads of the big films of that year. Last year brought us our first REAL glimpses of War of the Worlds and Batman Begins.

So what's on this years superbowl slate?

X3?
Superman Returns?
Miami Vice?

Is it too early for a spidey 3 peek?

What TV spots do you hope to see?

Does Vegas have odds on this?

Superman Returns is sure-fire.

X3 is a probable.

Wouldn't you LOVE to be taken by surprise with V For Vendetta? Right in the middle of the most Red, White, and Blue TV Event this side of July 4th? That would RULE...and the funny part is, it's NOT out of the question. Consider the release date on that baby. It's HYPE TIME!

Since the Superbowl is on ABC, I'm pretty sure that Pirates of the Carribbean (SP?) is a sure bet.

fucking canadian tv - even satellite - overrides all the american commercials - even on the american channels - so we mostly get crap - still get most of the trailers though - but i'm sure we're still getting fucked on the deal...

That's usin' the old noodle! Seriously, good call. V for Vendetta and Superman Returns are likely considering how hands-on Warner Bros. was last year. X3, perhaps. DaVinci Code, probably.

Most of them will probably end up online anyway, if that makes you feel any better.

DaVinci Code is probably a definite lock - cause people are already hailing as possibly one of the biggest movies next year... i'm sure Poseidon will make an appearance as well...

any bet on which preview will work the superbowl into the ad... specifically for the game - like some have in the past...

Should get more advertiser news this week, but confirmed movie spots so far are a spot for the remake of "Shaggy Dog," another for "Running Scared," Warner Bros. has three 30-second spots for "Poseidon," "V for Vendetta," and "16 Blocks," and Sony has bought up some spots too, not sure how many, but probably at least a couple for "Pink Panther" and "The DaVinci Code."

I'm going to actually be at the Super Bowl this year, so I'll miss all these spots, but hopefully they'll all be online soon after. I'm still gonna tape it though.

I used to watch the Super Bowl for the ads...couldn't really care less about the football. But then I moved to New Zealand (place of my birth, so meh) and we don't get the commercials!

So I can miss it entirely. Whoopee.

Davinci and Supes for sure. I just hope there's no new Capital-One spots...David Spade's "no-guy" and those barbarian-dudes need to be destroyed.

Nothing groundbreaking, but a couple more confirmed spots, M:I3 and, given today's AICN article, Pirates of the Caribbean and Cars.

Oi those Cars graphics look awesome. But it is far cooler if you saw the international trailer. You can actually see a story there and the characters and it makes this teaser look far cooler for ya know the plot when you watch it. Check it out:

It vibrates, though no one has ever quite explained why. I guess for people who shave with conventional razors, but want to feel like they're holding an electric one.

With the Super Bowl nearly upon us, I am not ashamed to say I look forward to seeing the latest top-notch commercials! It got me thinking about all the good commercials that have come out over the years so I figured we should have a discussion about our favorites. :)

My favorite commercial from last year's Super Bowl was definitely the "talking stain" Tide To Go commercial. Remember it?

Image

I thought it was pretty hilarious. I'm a little partial since I'm working with Tide, but it's hard to argue good humor! The night before the big game (Saturday, January 31st), CBS is going to air a "top ten Super Bowl commercials of all time" show. That Tide To Go commercial is in the running, and on their website CBS is asking people to vote for their favorites.

Feel free to share your favorite SB commercials, and if you loved that Tide To Go commercial as much as I do then you can vote for / watch it here. I'm looking forward to seeing what commercials you all like.

I like the Miracle Gro commercials...cause I've got a thing for plants...

And up in Canada we don't get many of the super bowl commercials cause all the local affiliates take over all the stations and just show stupid Canadian Tire and Tim Hortons commercials the entire time...

That one is hilarious too. It's a shame they don't do that kind of commercial any more; I thought their Baby Burp commercial wasn't that great. :?

I came across this interesting tidbit on what to expect for this year's line-up of Super Bowl commercials.

This year's Superbowl ads promise to be "gentle and sweet", as opposed to TV commercials shown last year, which were labeled "crass and callous".

Looks like we can expect more from the talking baby on a webcam. :| I just hope we get some more new and interesting commercials this year that will make me laugh as much as something like the Tide To Go one from last year.

none of the SB commercials really did much for me. i think my favorite was the 1-second commercial. i wish all commercials were 1 second long.

I don't know how much traffic this is gonna get, but since the Super Bowl is this weekend and the commercials are always a huge component of the event (for better or worse; personally I love 'em), I figured I'd temporarily make this thread a sticky in case anybody wanted to talk about them.

Alice in Burtonland, Nike Air Bender and Prince of "Persia".

Doesn't the Superbowl usually have good movie trailers?

It's certainly not 2005, where Batman Begins or War of the Worlds hit from what I remember. Maybe it's just that there's not that great many films on their way this year? Fresh films or not, they do seem pretty rubs.

This year's commercials were shit rotten. The worst year in my memory. The only one I thought was okay was the one with Betty White and Abe Vigoda. Pretty bad overall.

It was good to see Abe Vigoda (who laughs at you all!). But otherwise, besides the WTF? commercial with Letterman and Oprah and Leno, this year's were forgettable.

i really enjoyed the letterman-winfrey-leno commercial, just for pure WTF-ness. that's the one that made me question if i'd really just seen what i thought i saw.

Fully agree.
To make matters worse, the much-hyped Super Bowl Shuffle reunion was seriously weak and not even a smile-inducing event.
