LOST SEASON 6 (SPOILERS)

Postby geekgrrl on Sat Jun 06, 2009 12:51 am

Ok I know some of you are thinking that it is too early to start a Lost Season 6 thread. But come on who are we kidding all the guessing and pondering started the moment the screen went white on the season 5 finale. So the question that has been put upon us is Charlie Pace alive? I ask this after just seeing an ABC promo with none other than our favorite washed up rocker Charlie. Does this mean he is alive? Will we be seeing more of Charlie on the next season? Or is it possible that Damon and Carlton are just mind frakking us?

Well if Jack's plan worked, then conceivably everyone on the plane would still be alive (although dying inside a little every day).

Option 1: The magnetic anomaly was sealed up, thus not causing the hatch-button-pushing, therefore not crashing Oceanic 816. (probably doesn't leave it open to another season)

Option 2: Everyone on the island in 1977 is killed by the thermonuclear explosion and associated fallout (probably doesn't leave it open for another season)

Option 3: The anomaly was sealed up, but The Losties are mysteriously sent to another time period for some reason.

Option 4: The explosion was "the incident" that ended up causing the button-pushing. All this happened as it always did.

Option 5: The bomb never actually exploded and the white-out was a just a televisual cliffhanger device.

I'm curious to see if the season opens with Oceanic flight 815 landing safely in L.A. and everything is a flashback to how that happens.

I'm probably gonna end up being way wrong on this one, like most things Lost-related, but I'm guessing that "the incident" still happened and the timeline itself hasn't been changed, but that the Losties who had been time travelling end up being warped back to 2007 with Richard and not-Locke.

Mine too. 'The Incident' required a concrete wall like the one at Chernobyl and was still magnetic.

I still suggest a different option. The flight goes as it should, but everyone remembers what has happened. And Not-Locke is really pissed.

So as some of you may already know if you watched the videos from Comic-Con that FG linked to, Dominic Monaghan made an appearance at the end of the "Lost" panel, which raised questions as to whether his character would be coming back next season. A sharp-eyed fan took an interesting snapshot of his palm, which raises further questions:

Image

If you can't make it out because of the blurriness, what the writing says is "aM I ALive?" Of course, it could mean nothing. I remember the LATE/FATE thing that Charlie wrote on his fingers in Season 1 was Monaghan's idea, so this could also just be some inspired doodling that the producers have nothing to do with.

Bob Stencil, the King of Comic Con, made his best appearance yet at this year's Lost panel. Check it out here, and then spend an hour or so watching the other videos. That guy is f-ing brilliant.

Lost writers wrote:I have learned that if you kill someone off the show, they are less likely to cooperate with you.” Basically, Cynthia Watros is busy until further notice, and they can’t explain Libby without her, at least not in any way that shows her story rather than annoyingly tells her story.

From Lostpedia - on the episode "live together, die alone" (Season 2 finale)
At some point during 2001, Desmond arrives in the United States, and meets a stranger in line, Libby, at a coffee shop, who had offered to pay for his purchase when he realized that he had no American currency. He tells her that he needs money to obtain a boat to win back his honor in a race around the world sponsored by Charles Widmore. He wants to beat him in his own race, and then win back the love of Widmore's daughter, Penelope. Desmond adds that he needs the money as he has no boat. Libby reveals that she has a boat. It was her husband's but he got sick. He wanted to sail to the Mediterranean but wasn't able to: he died a month ago. Libby wants Desmond to have the boat, and when Desmond asks about her husband's name, she tells him it was David. The boat was named after her, the Elizabeth. Desmond thanks Elizabeth, and gratefully accepts. He says he "shall win this race for love".

Maybe its enough to say that Libby was institutionalised after giving away a sail boat to a stranger (or some other extreme grieving process, which kicked in later). :D
Possibly that isnt a big enough explanation for some, but it does me fine. (It wasnt my idea, I just read it on the episode rewatch reviews that are going up on chud. They are pretty good reading, and worth checking out, better than the usual chud stuff, as the writer isnt a "normal" member of the team.)
...and so forth.

If you watch some of the 'behind the scenes at Comic-Con' stuff out there (I think it is on Entertainment Weekly's site) they weren't planning on Dominic Monaghan showing up and a lot of people had no idea. He was at CC for another show (FlashForward?)

This is kind of a "question" post.

I was just reading this Q&A/interview thing that one of the writers did with USA Today, and he mentions something interesting about a season 6 poster:

Me: There's been so much analysis of the this year's promotional poster. Do you have a big part in creating that?

Lindelof: Yeah. Everything in the design of that poster is intentional. We oversaw it -- now we know the audience looks at that stuff so closely, so we don't want there to be anything that we don't approve, especially at this point in the game.

Why is neither Walt nor Vincent in the Season 6 promo picture? -- Holly

Well, I'm not going to explain why anything is what it is, other than that everything is by design. You'll just have to watch the final season and decide for yourself. It's a little bit like, "Why is Paul McCartney holding a Smokey Thingie with his right hand when he's a lefty on the Abbey Road cover?"

Does anybody have a link to the poster they're talking about? I think this is the first I've heard about it.

and I think you're right that it's Charlie between Juliet and Lapidus

I get what Bloo is saying. If they're essentially in a "corrected loop" now and starting back before they went on the island, Claire should be pregnant.
....unless it was someone on the island that knocked her up. I don't remember who the dad was.

EDIT - makes me wonder if the series is going to end with a closeup of Jack's eye.

Oh, okay. See I didn't see the dead characters on the poster as evidence of a "corrected loop" because of how often dead people appear on the show anyway. But the implications are pretty interesting if that's what's going on...

As far as the "corrected loop" goes, I'm really just going off of what Jack was hoping for by setting off the nuke in the first place.
Obviously they couldn't just die, so I'm just assuming that's what has happened.
The dead characters surely help that theory, but if that is what happened I hope we find out what happened with Claire that she was just hanging out in the Jacob shack with Jack's dad.... who was likely the bad guy that took over Locke's body.... oh shit this hurts the brain.

Yeah, I was thinking that as I typed it. I almost spelled it out directly but I know Kirks is still reading the series and Pacino is about to start. I can't remember if either of them watch Lost.

Knowing how much the Lost guys love the DT series, it wouldn't surprise me to see them go in that direction.

A Tangent Universe branched off the Primary Universe around the time when Oceanic 815 crashed, immediately before the appearance of the Artifact, the Dharma food drop. The inherently unstable Tangent Universe will collapse in just over 8 years and take the Primary Universe with it if not corrected. Closing the Tangent Universe is the duty of the Living Receiver, Jack, who wields certain supernatural powers to help him in the task.

Those who die within the Tangent Universe (and would not have died otherwise) are the Manipulated Dead (Claire, Eko). Locke is also given certain powers in that he is able to subtly understand what is happening and have the ability to contact and influence the Living Receiver via a Fourth Dimensional Construct. All others within the orbit of the Living Receiver are the Manipulated Living (e.g. Kate, Sawyer, Vincent), subconsciously drawn to push him towards his destiny to close the Tangent Universe and die by the Artifact.

Desmond's on there, he's in-between Eko and Shannon, I think. Although you're right, there doesn't seem to be a Widmore. Still I'd be surprised if he didn't make at least a few more appearances.

Seems Lost is moving to Tuesdays this season:

ABC announced today that the sixth and final season of "Lost" will kick-off with a special all-night event on Tuesday, February 2. A recap special will kick off the night from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET, followed by the much anticipated two-hour premiere from 9:00-11:00 p.m.

The series will then air in its regular time period Tuesday nights from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET beginning the following week, on February 9.

"Lost" stars Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Ben, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Ken Leung as Miles, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Terry OQuinn as Locke and Zuleikha Robinson as Ilana.

"Lost" was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J.J. Abrams & Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender, Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, Jean Higgins and Carlton Cuse serve as executive producers. "Lost," which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii and premiered on September 22, 2004, is from ABC Studios.

Also, peep the cast list; Zuleikha Robinson and Nestor Carbonnell are series regulars
