I'm catching up with the first season at the moment, just seen the Halloween ep with the Batman parody. I think it's a really funny show most of the time and it's good to have all the main characters be funny in any combination too. I also really love this line from the pilot "I discovered at a very early age that if I talk long enough, I can make anything right or wrong. So either I'm God or truth is relative. In either case, booyah!"

And Alison Brie is ridiculously lovely.

this week's episode was pretty good, not great, but still delivered a few nice laughs. i really dig the way it has a continuity to it, with Chevy in the wheel chair after last week's trampoline incident, and then the reference to the Halloween and a certain hook up, which i am thinking we will see further reference to in at least one future episode. holy shit, just imagine if that test turns out to be positive!

Yes this episode was utterly brilliant, probably my favourite (maybe tied with the paintball ep from last season). When the A plot tied into the blanket fort B plot I was howling with laughter, and the twist upon twist upon twist finale was delicious, I particularly liked the sly nod to Lost's ultimate shittiness with the Dean's "Time travel is so hard to write" breakdown.

I think the best thing about this season has been the fact that when there have been A and B stories they have connected, unlike last season where there was little connection between the A and B stories.

Yeah, Community has been firing on all cylinders lately. It's a huge improvement over season 1, in my opinion. I think the main reason is because some of the more far-out ideas they had wouldn't have worked until they established the characters and the voice of the show -- like the zombie episode, the bottle episode, and the animated episode, all of which are awesome but probably wouldn't have been as effective last year.

Did anyone else notice that the Christmas episode was written by Starburns himself (and Moral Orel creator) Dino Stamatopoulos

i forgot to post about the D&D episode a few weeks ago. but i can't let it go by without saying that Senor Chang cosplaying as a drow elf was one of the funniest things i've ever seen on this show.

that's one of the great things about the show, they can introduce a character out of nowhere like Magnitude and its like he's been there all along.
in fact, all the "background" characters are pretty great... magnitude, leonard, starburns, the dean

Then download Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Man To Man With Dean Learner, The UK original The IT Crowd and portions of The Mighty Boosh and edumacate yourself, Bax. You'll thank me. Or want to slap me for wasting your time but it's worth the risk for both of us.

I'd hope Dan Harmon is smart enough to know when it's slowing down and end it or fix it. I addressed this in the first season, but I'm curious how they are going to handle future seasons, as most community colleges are only 2 year programs. I can see Peirce being around, as he's not really a full time student, and Chang since this is his first year, and they can maybe pull off the "not full time students" with Britta and Shirley, but Abed, Jeff, Troy, and Annie are all obviously full-time students.

if they start to swap out characters who should be the first character to go? what is the rank of significance among Community characters??? what list should they work from when the replacements begin?

most needed for show to retain quality & identity
1. Abed
2. Jeff
3. Troy
4. Annie
5. Pierce
6. Chang
7. Britta
8. Shirley

Re: Community

I think Britta should be ranked higher there. She's possibly my favourite character, it started with the ep when she, Shirley and Annie use Abed to destroy the self esteem of all the bitchy women at Greendale - from the hyped up "bitch free zone" boasting to telling Abed to go be "rowboat" cop, she's just so wonderfully, unknowingly lame and her earnest yet still kinda shallow politics is hilarious.

i think she started out as one of the core characters, right there next to Jeff, but it seems to me over the course of the show she has fallen back into the pack as they have pretty much written out the whole sexual tension with Jeff subplot. i think she could be replaced with another late 20's/early 30's single woman without too much trouble

they could always just go the simpsons route. i mean, how many seasons has bart been a 12-year-old kid now?

I love Britta and would hate to see her phased out, but with a cast this size it's hard to let everyone shine all the time (some of the weaker episodes from Season 1 show this when they try and cram too many plots in an ep). Somehow I don't think we're down with Jeff and Britta as she did lose her job last week. Another roommate for Jeff along with Chang? Will that be too much?

Nice shout-out to "The Cape." Somewhere an NBC exec was flipping off his TV.

Fans of Donald Glover should seek out his movie Mystery Team. At one point I was laughing so hard I was crying and had to pause it so I wouldn't miss anything.

This doesn't mean Chevy Chase has left the show, does it? :(

But yeah that episode was awesome, each scene in the last twenty minutes was more epic than the one before it. I'm constantly impressed by how well they walk the line between parody and homage.

I doubt it, you'd think they would have made some announcement about it. In fact I'd figure if anyone would be leaving it would be Dr. Ken. But I could see it turning into a nice arch for next season, with the study group reminding Peirce of all the times that they have been there for him
