Shane Meadows' This Is England '86

The greatest TV in history is being made right now. The worst TV in history is being made right now.

This Is England (Now with '86 TV Series)

In the UK we get this as a 4 part TV Show in September, the rest of the world get them edited into two movies I believe (assuming they are 45 minutes each, I read somewhere Meadows was Directing the first two parts and someone else the other 2 so it's be weird if they cut together 1 film from 2 Directors work)

Yeah - I'm totally on board for this, would be great to see more stories with these characters, and more great two tone/ska and northern soul tracks.

Me too. I was quiet on it cos , well, I can never see the Youtube links you guys are always linking to :(

If I'm honest, I don't even give a rats about the plots, I mean it could be about saving an orphanage for all I care, the main thing for me is gonna be all the nostalgic details which I think 4 episodes would be good for (oh yeah and tit sucking), but please, please don't turn into this generations "Heartbeat".

The first episode just aired here in the UK, I need to see all 4 episodes before even thinking about a review but it was nice to catch up with all the characters again, some of it was bloody funny too. It was mostly setting up the story threads that'll follow so it'll probably play better watched in one big chunk if you can wait that long.

Shane Meadows' This Is England '86

Thought it was a bad idea at first, but word of mouth has been pretty great. I think Meadows is even planning on doing another series already. For those not in the know, it features most of the characters from the movie just three years down the line.

Any Zoners seen this yet?

I was slightly sceptical about it at first.

But it's actually been rather brills. A few bits have felt a bit silly, but otherwise it's been worthwhile (In fact, I hear rumours that Meadows is going to do more series).

I like what I've seen so far (2 eps) - works surprisingly well adapted to a different format - it's funny, but not as pognat or affecting as the movie.

So hopefully everyone saw that rather sensational finale.

Pognat? I was completely wrong - the second two eps particularly made this some of the best tv in a long time. Although I wasn't totally sold on Combo's bid for redemption, I was dragged throught the wringer by the whole post-skinhead Thatcher-era tough times for good kids story - sensational indeed.
