Your Dream HBO Show/Miniseries

Or Showtime, AMC, FX, whatever.

There are some threads similar to this for movies -- wishlists for book adaptations, best sci-fi films never made -- but certain properties, like Game of Thrones for example, just lend themselves better to a long-form medium like TV. And there are a couple geek faves like The Dark Tower or 100 Bullets that ought to get the same treatment as well.

So does anybody else have any stories they think would be perfect for TV? One that springs to mind for me would be The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Haruki Murakami's 600+-page surrealist opus. It's weird enough that no movie studio would ever take a chance on it, and really too long and sprawling to be condensed into a single film anyway, but it's also episodic in structure and could probably make for a really cool miniseries, in my opinion.

David Wingrove's Chung Kuo series. It's full of epic dystopian Sci-Fi awesomness. Warning: readers of this series will be exposed to toxic levels of plot and character development.

HBO has already made a dream miniseries I always wanted to see: From the Earth to the Moon.

Beyond that, I'd like to see a couple of Anthony Burgess' novels adapted: Earthly Powers and The Kingdom of the Wicked.

Also, Robert Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls.

I'm sure I'll think of more, given time.

Didn't Bernardo Bertolucci already do that one?

i need more plot and character development than can be provided by just watching the same episode over and over. i need to see how her pubic hair grows as a character over time, or the conflicts and resolutions that take place between her right and left nipples.

That was on Showtime last year. It was called Camelot. It was beautiful.

why don't they just go ahead and rename the channel FBO (Fincher Box Office)?
btw, i would have no problem with that. the more Fincher the better.
