Actors who should be BIGGER.

Discuss all the finest actors, living or dead -- their films, their talents, and their weird, drug-related escapades.

i think ryan reynolds should be a bigger star than he is now - instead of starring in crappy lil rom-coms - i believe he's got some great comic timing and is enjoyable on screen - don't hold the fact that he's engaged to alanis against him... us canucks gotta stick together...

and tom cruise... you heard it here 1st - one day tha guy will be a big star... he just needs to be in a big movie... and then i bet one day he goes all nuts and we end up hating him... just you wait...

Bonnie Hunt. I am thoroughly convinced she will never be the big name in lights, which is probably okay with her, but she should be.

He's great in Scrubs and I liked him as the baddie in Dean Koontz's Intensity too.

I never saw that.... Did he have a big role in it????
He seems to always have these small roles... or else he plays the same type of characters... I loved him in office space.....

I think if he got a leading role in a good script, he could be fanfuckingtastic...

He was the best thing (not saying much) about Wagons East.

I used to say Gerard Butler, and he's starting to get bigger now, but I always thought he showed potential.

Do they have anything up and coming??? I could write them a letter, you know, telling them to hire Mcginley for the main character....

They have the last film in their "Clooney as an idiot" trilogy. I think it's called HAIL CAESAR. You better get writing.

John Leguizamo; the guy can really act, and his one man show directed by Spike Lee was one of the best stand-up acts of all time, not only because he is a very funny dude, but because he was able to put some much more into it than punch lines.

you condemn a guys entire career over one bad movie he made while trying to break into the business? may as well write off most actors working then.

I'll second the vote for Gerard Butler. I'd like to see him in as many movies per year as he can make. And David Wenham plays "Dilios" in "300" with Butler. Also Lena Headly is a not too bad looking in a skimpy outfit either.

And Hiroyuki Sanada (The Twilight Samurai) speaks English and should be getting better Hollywood films! Maybe after "The White Countess" and "Sunshine" he will be bigger?

Yeah - if you can find 'Gettin' Square' (playys a piss funny so-drugged-Im-falling-over and passing out junkie)

... or 'The Boys' (plays dark, murderous eldest brother just out of jail)

...or 'The Proposition' (playe effete but calculating gentry)

amazing actor (also brightest moments in 'Van Helsing' are the ones he features in)

Don't think I've seen her mentioned, but Maria Bello, seems very selective with her choices too (or just can't get hired), picks a lot of smart roles though (with the occassional Coyote Ugly or Assault on Precint 13 thrown in).

Maybe slightly off-topic - I heard that Dave Grohl turned down a bit part in Kong, wangled for him by buddy Jack Black. I have been championing Grohl as a comedy actor for years - he needs to do something with JB. They were both in a Foo Fighters video, which was basically the pair of them getting horribly drunk with a camcorder. It is hilarious, as are most of their videos. They have a great chemistry.

Also I think the Dwarves from Lupe's story should be Bigger.

Victoria Smurfitt, who I did some Featured Extra work with for a week with on Trial and Retribution, UK TV crime drama, and the Irish single mother that Hugh Grant was trying to shag in the beginning by lying too that he was a single father. Used to be in Ballykissangel, another UK TV series.

Sexy woman, strong prescence, always take her seriously. More than held he own with the starrier cast in About A Boy, and she looked fucking stunning in S&M gear in Trial and Retribution. Pity I weren't in that scene with her.

Apparently she was in The Beach and Bulletproof Monk too.

How about this...

Sean Bean and Missi Pyle

Oddly enough, I would go and see a Sean Bean movie even if he had a small part because his movies are always intriguing...I loved Goldeneye of course.

As for Missi Pyle, someone who you probably have not heard of, check out her work:

I'd love to see Sean Bean in more movies where he's not a bad guy and he doesn't get killed. He's got this charismatic kind of watchability, but he unfortunately gets typecast all the time. Apparently he got a decent role under that criteria in NORTH COUNTRY, but that doesn't count since his American accent apparently also sucks.

Two actors immediately spring to mind for me.

Parker Posey, darling of the Indie film. She's a fine actress who deserves to be a lot bigger than she is. Much, much better than many of her contemporaries.

And Giovanni Ribisi is, I think, one of the oustanding actors of his generation. I thought his performance in 'The Gift' with Cate Blanchett was superb. He, too, deserves to be more widely known.
