Until he stops making the same crappy movie (wide release), he will suck.....

To be fair he did do Stranger than Fiction and some crappy Woody Allen movie... so Ferrel has at least attempted to have range. Regardless, I still think he is overrated.

He sucks when he's the lead.
He's good in small roles & cameos, but he can't carry a picture on his own.
I hope sooner or later the studio's realize this.

Yeah I'm with you there....

Anchorman was teh shit though, but I think that it could have missed the mark along with all the others (Blades of Glory, Semi-pro) pretty easily...

Familiar at all?? Can everybody Adam Sandler....??

Well according to the box office of semi-pro, he's still sucking...

"Who knew? Who could have predicted? Certainly not the box office soothsayers. They all called Will Ferrell’s weekend comedy, “Semi Pro,â€

Coincidentally, I was just reading that Fox News story that you've quoted verbatim above.

USA Today say that 'Semi-Pro' hasn't done badly for an R-rated Sports Comedy, and you know, sometimes they say exactly what I wanted to anyway with out all that time-consuming thinking, so;

'Will Ferrell claimed the top spot at the box office this weekend, but his basketball comedy still was a bit of a clunker.

Semi-Pro took in $15.3 million, according to studio estimates from Nielsen EDI. The haul isn't bad for an R-rated comedy, but it's less than half what most analysts had predicted, given Ferrell's track record and the movie's heavy marketing push.'

Or maybe people just don't dig the funk and the Ferrell...

Maybe people are getting bored of him.

I just find it shocking that the majority of his films are known as things like Untitled Will Ferrel NASCAR Movie before they hit production.
These are being specifically wrote for him to star in, like a marketing machine in overdrive.

Also taking into account that NBA telly ratings aren't very high at the moment (interest in basketball in the US apperas to be at something of a low), maybe an R-rated comedy about basketball wasn't the best thing to attempt.

..but then I don't work in film marketing, production or distribution.

I'd love to know what the production and marketing budgets were for 'Semi-Pro' - considerably more than 15 million US I suppose...
