You can ask my whole family and they will tell you that Tom Hanks has never been better than in "The 'burbs". And I agree with them.
"The Money Pit" is a close second.

Damn, I wish Tom Hanks would go back to comedy again.

Because he could be our new Kirk?

If you mean by "Never coming back here again" then I agree that Rolf is in the running for New Kirk...

I voted for Splash! Everything I like about Hanks is in that movie and it's one of his more natural (i.e. not showy like Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, etc.) performances.

I absolutely despise You've Got Mail. Ugh. Terrible movie.

Yes, I watched it, because I quite enjoyed Joe Vs. the Volcano. I thought Sleepless in Seattle was just okay, but maybe they got things back on track with YGM. Oh how I was wrong! Zzzzzzzzzz......

I watched Joe versus the volcano like twice a day when it was the only movie HBO owned. That opening Tennessee Ernie Ford song kicked all kinds of ass.

I believe Fievel (and Rolf van der Berg) detailed who voted for it on the first page.

Hhmmm.. I never realized how many Tom Hanks movies I havn't seen. I feel suddenly out of place here.. I'd better get renting. I voted for Forrest Gump. Only one of the three movies of his that made me cry..
The Green Mile and Cast away are the other two.

man, no "The Ladykillers"? whatta snub!
its definitely not teh coens best, but i feel like its the most un-hanks performance of ol tom's career. at least the ones that ive watched. the first and probably only time ive ever really felt like tom hanks wasnt a character in the movie, and that i wasnt watching tom hanks. not to say he does a bad job. ive enjoyed more than a few of his flicks, and as (unfortunately) a snl fan, his five timer status secures him a spot in my heart. nevertheless, he is always tom hanks, or so it seems.

you know who else was good in that flick?
j.k. simmons.

No Joe versus the Volcano on this list? You neglected his first romantic vehicle with Meg Ryan?? You can't make that kind of chemistry in a lab you know! You people sicken me...

My favorite Hanks role is A League of Their Own. He's hilarious in that movie.
