Slater and Sizemore scrambling up the Phantom Zone

Postby GupterPuncher on Sun Jul 12, 2009 9:26 am

I like a lot of Christian Slater films.

I think Tom Sizemore is electric whenever he's on screen.

The last thing I heard Slater was in was that thing where he was the quiet guy in the office who becomes a Bickle type hero after someone else tries to massacre everyone...

The last thing I heard of Sizemore was the worst DVD seller of all time...'Xzzzyx[?]'...

But I want them to come back...If Mickey Rourke can do it, can't they?

Has anyone, other than the crew ever seen Zyzzyx Road?

Sizemore has made something of a TV comeback, I think.

And Christian Slater has somehow managed to carve out a career for himself here in the UK.

Slater either needs to do Gleaming The Cube 2 or team up with his sister for The Legend Of Billy Jean 2: Fair is Still Fair.

Honestly, never a big fan of Christian Slater. Didn't mind Sizemore, but I heard he was sort of a douche in real life. And anytime I see Sizemore, two words always pop into my head...

Sizemore pissed off a lot of people in the business, from what i've heard.

Slater was treading the boards in London last time i heard of him.
I've always liked him as an actor. Although, my opinion is untainted by Alone in the Dark, Hollowman 2...
I can't believe he wasn't more successful after Very Bad Things came out.

EDIT: Wiki says Slater has a new tv show on ABC called The Forgotten. It starts in September, apparently.

There was a time around Saving Private Ryan where Sizemore said he was in rather direct competition with George Clooney (who I heard is Dumbledore by the way, working on Gulliver's Travels) and that talentless wanker, Michael Madsen. Probably 'cos they were similar looking actors. I remember I wanted Sizemore to beat them both off. Sadly he got dominated by them and was on the receiving end. Now he's pretty much washed up. I always thought that he was a talented and gifted actor, who had a lot of heavyweight capability in him. Was better than Val Kilmer in Heat, (the 'this is the best thing to do' scene where the 3 thieves discuss to go their own way or do another heist or not really shows 'something' that Sizemore has) and we all know how tremendous he was in Saving Private Ryan where there was talk of him even being Oscar nommeed for it, very close. Oh and a right horrible bastard he was in Red, with Brian Cox.

Real life? I heard that after Heat, Robert De Niro had to kick him up the arse and get him into drug rehab. The stand in for Tom Sizemore on Saving Private Ryan who I met filming the TV series, Cleopatra, he said that Sizemore was a lovely bloke, but his own worst enemy. I asked him what he meant, an I can't remember everything word for word now so bear with me, but he basically said that Sizemore was still fucked up in the head a bit, a bit self destructive. Forgive me but I can't say more than that as again, I don't remember things that specifically, but that was sort of the description or the impression that I got.

But please, Tom Sizemore. Come back!! I always wanted to see you do more and better stuff, you were always enjoyable to watch! Clooney is Dumbledore and Madsen's a Wanker!! Use that self destructive darkness in you and let it make you a better actor. Don't just suffer! Suffer for your art - and make more and even better stuff with it. Tommy!! Can you hear me?!?! TOMMEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEVER STOPPED BELIEVING IN YOU!!!! DON'T STOP BELIEVING IN MEEEEE!!!!!!!!

ELLEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While I'm at it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6zsRFluGXw I love you in this! ELLEEEEEEEENNNN!!!!!!! COME TO MEEE!!!!!!! :P :P :P :P I WON'T STOP BELIEVING IN YOU AND MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! (Sorry guys.)

Christian Slater was teh b0m in "Kuffs", and of course "True Romance". The fact I no longer see him in movies? Um... kinda don't care. Same with Tom Sizemore. Once you've seen him in "Natural Born Killers" or "Heat" or again, to a much lesser extent "True Romance", then you've really seen it all. And yeah, he's obviously better than Madsen, but lacks having Virginia as a sister.

Let's be honest here, it's not like Madsen has an astonishing career either.

That schedule can't be accurate. How is he in that much demand get that many jobs? Is he cheap? If so, why isn't he in every Species sequel?

Krist, that list is ridiculous....is there more than one Mickey Madsen?

Rourke is the forerunner of Sizemore...he pissed a lot of people off, but had that something in him that made it possible for him to come back.

What Tom needs is to find a role to get him there...

I think the guy who jumps through windows in 'Vineland' by Thomas Pynchon...he's kind of a washed up and done his time on drugs, although that character probably didn't do hard drugs.

Or Malachai Constant from 'Sirens of Titan'?? I'm not sure if Sizemore isn't too stocky to play the Malachai I picture in my head, but again, that character is a sensualist, and most of that role would give Sizemore a challenge...

As for Slater, at least he's still going...I heard 'Heathers 2' might happen...

Capt. Kirks - Your multi-Walken avatar is unsettling....I stared at it for a minute and then closed my eyes, and Walken wouldn't leave...

It reminds me of a review of 'View to a kill' in some mag a few years back...they said the film was ok, but the main flaw was the villain; he just didn't seem evil enough...

Christopher Walken was not evil enough.
