Lurr is great, and that ep does have great replay value not to mention its another homage to 2001 that makes me smile. Zoidbergs narration at the end is pretty sweet. Some other Lurr lines that get me laughing are from Anthology of Interest 2 i think. "Increase speed, reverse direction!"

Not to turn this into a quote thread (thats for talkbacks) but my all time favorite line said by a side character would be "Kittens give Morbo gas."

I counter Hedonism Bot with Malfunctioning Eddie.

Allright Velour Fog, I guess Im back to looking for the Neutrals the hard way, damn pot.

I love Obsoletely Fabulous, the one where Bender dreams he's on that island with the wooden robots (*inserts "Snappy Comeback tape* "Your mother"), but 300 Big Boys is probably still my favourite, for the whole whale biologist thing, and the insanely cool ending.

"Presenting Mushu, the educated whale who thinks he's better than you!"

By the way, who exactly are The Neutrals?

One of the most hilarious moments was when Bender had a love triangle wrestle with a version of himself over a female in an old factory. I personally cannot wait for more episodes that deal wit hsuch identity crises and ironies. How one's creation and existence can backfire with such complications is something that we all jnow about at some point in our lives, hmm? Still, this great news of more entertainment and enlightenment and emotional movingness makes me close to tears at such joyous news. Rejoice my Brothers.

Obsoletely Fabulous has that robot who depends on water to keep her wheel moving for power, freakin genious, but it kind of fizzles out in the end.

The Neutrals are a race of beings who Brannigan intensly distrusts. They wont take a posistion on anything, and coincidently enough, they are grey.

Neutral: "I have no strong feeling one way or the other"
Zapper: "I hate these Neutrals Kip, with enemys you know where they stand. With Neutrals..who knows, it sickens me."

There is a more Neutral centric episode but I just cannot remember it. Grr.

What about "Where No Fan Has Gone Before"?

That was freakin AMAZING.

BENDER - "What if you don't like Star Trek? can we leave early?"

WALTER KOENIG - "Good question!"

==============

WALTER KOENIG to his cast masts - "I don't have any real experience fighting... except you know, with you guys."

I don't even like Walter Koenig!!!!

Brannigan is gold, just fucking hilarious, but for my money Farnsworth rocks hardest, he's just such an nasty reactionary motherfucker but he gets away with it cus he's an old fart. It's brilliant.

I just got season 4 today and I'm working my through eps I haven't seen before.

This is the best cartoon ever. For a while I wasn't sure of it, but over the past 5 or so years I've come to realize it.

Never, and I mean NEVER, have I been moved to crying from a cartoon show. Hell, hardly any movies can do this! But between things like Time Keeps on Slipping and the far worse(better) Jurassic Bark... so amazing. Doesn't help that Jurassic Park is one of my favourite films!

No, it's hump. It's the episode where Prof. F gets taken away to the old persons planet. His clone is hiding on Fries back, under a lab coat.

They only needed a drop of DNA.

+++FINDING TRANSCRIPT+++

Ahhh.... here we go.

Cubert: This plan is impossible. We don't even have a sample of the Professor's DNA.

Bender: I think I know where to get some.

[He pulls out a big syringe and points it at Cubert.]

[Scene: Cubert's screams echo around the Near-Death Star.]

[Scene: Outside Near-Death Star Guest Drop Off. Bender, Fry and Leela walk towards the opening door and past a sign reading "After 11pm Use Slot". Fry wears a lab coat, thick glasses and is hunched over. There is a big hump in his back.]

[Cut to: Near-Death Star Drop Off. They walk in through the door. Cubert starts talking from under the lab coat.]

Cubert: Why do I have to be the hump?

Fry: 'Cause you're too ugly to be a wart.

[He laughs and Bender and Leela join in. They carry on walking across a large platform towards the centre of the dome. They hear whirring noises and look over the side. Machines scoop up old people, strip them, bathe them, dress them in night gowns and finally place them in rocking chairs. The chairs move along a conveyor belt towards a large tube in the middle of the dome. There are conveyor belts going deep into the dome.]

Leela: Your Medicare dollars at work.

[They reach some barrierbots and guardbots. A barrierbot lowers a barrier in front of them.]

Barrierbot #1: Halt! Identify this guest.

Leela: Uh, this is Professor Hubert Farnsworth. He escaped.

Barrierbot #1: Escaped? No one escapes.

Barrierbot #2: This guest does not look 160.

Fry: What? I'm old. Listen: (old man voice) Hey, you kids, get off the lawn!

Barrierbot #1: Hmm, it is true old people are often concerned that there are children on their lawns.

Barrierbot #2: There's no denying that. But we'll still need to verify his identity with a DNA sample.

[Bender holds up a jar labelled "Tissue Sample". The jar is filled with a liquid.]

Bender: Got a hot, steaming batch right here!

[He puts it near Barrierbot #2.]

Barrierbot #2: We only needed one cell!

Bender: Eh, keep the change, buddy.

Cubert: Stupid robot.

[A guardbot turns around with it's gun.]

Barrierbot #1: Did your hump just say something?

Fry: Uh ... I-I've got talking hump syndrome.

Barrierbot #1: Ah, T.H.S.

[Bender drops some of Cubert's blood into a machine and it dings and displays "Hubert J. Farnsworth" on a screen.]

Barrierbot #2: Identity confirmed. Return this shambling shuffle-boarder to his room.

[Barrierbot #1 raises it's barrier.]

Quote-fest!

I watched an episode of "Futurama" last night and felt compelled to share.

Wernstrom: And what will you be presenting this evening, grandpa?

Farnsworth: Let's just say it's something that'll put you young whippersnappers in your place!

Wernstrom: I just hope it's not as lame as that "death clock" you presented last year.

Farnsworth: Er, last year, you say?

Wernstrom: That's right.

Farnsworth: Oh my! Did it put you young whippersnappers in your place?

Wernstrom: Hardly! We laughed until our teeth fell out. Come along, Cinnamon.

[His fish follows him.]

Farnsworth: Oh, dear. I'll have to invent something new in the next ten minutes. Perhaps some sort of death clock!

Bender: I've been perusing your fortified wine list and I've selected the '71 Hobo's Delight, the '57 Chateau Parté, and the '66 Thunder Chevitz.

Waiter: Exquisite choices, sir.

Bender: And, mix them all together in a big jug.

There comes a time in every man's life, when he goes back how it was! Collider.com is reporting that Comedy Central has ordered 13 new episodes of "Futurama"!

Good news everyone! An inside source has revealed exclusively to Collider that “Futurama” has been given a 13 episode order by Comedy Central. Though still technically a rumor at this point, word is that “Futurama” production offices have already opened and that casting is about to move forward.

This should be a welcome surprise to fans of the show who have already gone through the series’ cancellation and resurrection as direct-to-DVD movies.

Look for official word in the very near future. Though animation has a big lead time, I would guess on some kind of “Futurama” presence at Comic Con next month.

Although I was never a fan of Futurama, I must say that bringing the show back without the original (voice) cast is pointless and frankly insulting (if I was a fan :? ). In the history of TV has there ever been a case of replacing one actor with another actor for the same role, done successfully? The only one I can think of is Darren from Bewitched.

Utterly pointless.

Erm...ever seen a show called Doctor Who?

But in all seriousness - if this doesn't turn out to be a publicity stunt or a wind-up of some sort, then I'm out. I will not watch Futurama if the cast have been replaced. Why would I want to, as a fan of the show? This is one show where replacing the voice talent would ultimately degrade the quality of the show itself.

I don't believe the makers would bring it back without them doing the voices.

It probably just about contract posturing. The Simpsons main cast did this a few years back (twice I think) and the show was about to be cancelled, then there were reports about re-casting the characters. And it was all set up by their agents to get wage increases.

No doubt, as Christopher Tyng's theme samples the older tack, (and the legendary 'amen' break as well, I'd wager) - but I've read that Psyche Rock itself was intend as a kind of electronic riff on 'Louie, Louie', and let's face it, you would be hard pressed to claim that ownership on that 'Wild Thing' chord progression, as it's been used so many times. I know that Fatboy Slim, Coldcut, William Orbit andothers have done remixes of Pierre Henry's track, but none of them quite stack up.

As tapehead mentioned, I have a "psyche rock" ep from a few years back, that was a basically fatboy slim,(I think) the orb and coldcuts re interpretations of that track and its awesome. Done with the full backing of pierre henry and michel columbier I believe. It was also used quite a bit for test cricket on the BBC, which I never watched, but liked the theme back in the day. Must hunt down that CD and give it a listen. When it was picked up for use on futurama it was just like an extra layer of tasty icing to a great show for me.
One of the coldcut mixes is awesome, but I cant find it on youtube.
...and so forth.

Cheers for the intel, guys. I just happened to be bumming around Youtube listening to weird French electronic music when, to all intents and purposes, the Futurama theme suddenly came up! Just took me offguard is all. It's a good tune though.

And although I blanked his name earlier, Christopher Tyng did some awesome music for Futurama. I especially dug his Hendrixy version of Star Spangled Banner (can't remember what episode that was from).

I'm sure that Psyche Rock track comparison has come up somewhere before years ago - maybe in one of the several other Futurama threads - I had had a serious Zoner deja vu when I saw your post. Hermanator's right; that Coldcut mix is pretty killer.

New trailery thing:

Re: Pierre Henry's Psyche Rock - that piece of music has been referenced, copied and sampled so many times that a lot of the supposed examples of it on Youtube aren't even the original.

Re: Futurama threads - according to search, it seems we have about four or five of them. Can a mod do a super-merge?

Lol, I just listened to a Brazilian version of it by a guy called Carlos Erasmo. I'm 100% sure the one I linked to is the first- and IMO best- version, though. Les Yper Sound is a band Pierre Henry used to be in back in the mid-'60s. Stereolab once name-checked them in the title to one of their songs.

I guess now that the DVD movies are all over and done with, a single, all-encompassing Futurama thread would make sense.

Sigh...

Guess I've got nothing better to do on a Saturday night. Won't be a tick.

EDIT: I merged all the Futurama DVD threads into one thread and then put all the duplicate threads here.

The Comedy Central website is running week-daily sneak peaks of the eps which start airing in June - although the feature DVDs were a little patchy quality-wise, I'm getting excited about the prospect of new tales from the Futurama-verse.
