The Deserts of Traun

Postby Brocktune on Wed Mar 22, 2006 5:35 pm

Here is a teaser trailer for the animated film "Traun". (right click, select "save link as"). It is a concept that has been worked on for many years now, and is the brainchild of former Estradasphere drummer Dave Murray, and his good friend Colby Bluth, nephew of animation giant, Don Bluth. it started as just music, as dave was working on this "Deserts of Traun" concept album. with bluth just doing illustrations, and now it has blossomed into a full length animated feature. Dave is an absolutely smoking drummer. in fact one of the five best drummers ive ever seen live. he is very into metal. real metal. and the deserts of traun reflect that. even in this little trailer, i can hear dave murrays's trademark double bass pedal. i am salivating in anticipation of this. it reminds me of dragons lair, but darker. at least thats what i get from this littlle snippet of a trailer. anyway, just thought i would give the man a plug over here in the zone, because i think its gonna be awesome!

That looks really cool! For some reason, I find the part where the guy is wading through a swamp and he reaches out for the branch only to have it break to be very visually striking.

Great clip, Brock. Thanks for linking it!! It definitely has that Dragon Slayer/French comic look to it, which I fondly enjoy!

The important question is: Will Broose Bachslytnar be reprising a role?

Looks good. At last some Western animation that isn't snappy. OK, there's a lot that isn't snappy... you just have to know where to look... but this needs big upping!

Yeah so like I just randomly rewatched the trailer to this, and it still looks very neat.
