Cartoon into film?

Postby sleepflower on Sat May 13, 2006 2:14 pm

Which childhood cartoon would you most like to see made into a film?

Now you should laso state whether you could handle live action or stick to anim and who would star/direct.

I would add a poll, but there are too many to list.

Danger Mouse was such a great. But could only be an animated film. Not sure if it would work, it's just my favourite. Although powerpuff girls worked.[/url]

It depends how old you are really. I could definatley see some work for steven seagal in the 'rent a ghost' movie. Hopefully in the boss eyed horse costume.

The flinstones,
He-man,
Inspector gadget,
Scooby-doo,

There's four reasons right there why they shouldn't do anymore. I hope Transformers is good, but i hope it doesn't mean we'll see a load of half-arsed movie remakes of cartoons if it's successful.

Kinda like to see a 'Dungeons and Dragons' film, based on the cartoon though.

Ok, you asked for it. I say Dungeon's and Dragon's. Now I want this live action, no creature cgi work, I want them to actually go out and find a small performing horse to play Uni. Also, I would not be satisfied unless the film lasted 5 hours, extreme you may say, nah, its not. I want a 10min earth/theme park setup and then bang into the realm of Dungeon's and Dragon's. Kinda like Silent Hill , but with all those Keraaazy characters!

I want dungeon crawling, I want skill leveling, I want to see them climb a wizards tower fighting ghosts and reading ancients tomes. I wanna see Sheila get jiggy with the gang, all that sexual tension boiling over as they wander over the country side in search of the mystical, high jump granting Mead of morrow potion. I want the script by William Goldman, I want the fucking muppets and Jim Henson creature shop behind the scenes and Gordon Willis on Camera.

Now, this would be awesome, GREENLIGHT it now! You've sold one goddamn ticket already, hell, I'll see it thrice and I'm damn sure hobo's would come to see this picture due to its length, meaning they get the best ratio of warmth to value for money. Make it so.

I need this film like Quentin needs to make his full cut of "Kill Bill", as one volume, as nature intended. Loved the syncronicity of our posts too. Hollywood, please add Mr.Locksmiths advance ticket sale.

Love the jim Henson idea. Seriously, the creature workshop needs to do a lot more work, i know they've got the dark crystal 2 coming up, but man, i love me some muppets. How about a muppet uni? it may be a bit hard to train a 'small horse'.

Noted. I think the practicality of having a Muppet as Uni would impede the shooting process, an actual small horse would solve all problems in this respect. I'm willing to accept a small monkey dressed as a horse, but, I just don't know how that would sit with other fans.

I could kiss you right now Peven. This is the only cartoon (outside of the Transformers in production and supposedly preproduction GI Joe) I would love to see in live action.

The year: 1994. From out of space comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction! Man's civilization is cast in ruin!
Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn...
A strange new world rises from the old: a world of savagery, super science, and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice! With his companions Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel, he pits his strength, his courage, and his fabulous Sunsword against the forces of evil.
He is Thundarr, the Barbarian!

Live action: The Little Mermaid

Judi Dench as the Sea Witch

Ron Livingston as the Prince

and

Jessica Alba as Ariel.

Make it PG-13 and instead of sexual undertones, just make it overtly sexual. Ohno, beer is talking. Throw Wyclef Jean or Phil Lamar in there supplying cgi Sebastians voice and you have a hit.

EDIT, ok not a TV cartoon but indulge me

Fucking Thundar live action would be awesome –

How about some Mask? Or Jayce and The Lightning League? I think both would be fun live action pop-corn movies.

DM and Count Duckula…maybe CG / traditional blend of animation, would be hard to pull off live action.

More than anything, The Secret Railroad live action would be tits. That cartoon was like acid for five year olds; it opened the doors of perception in my little brain.

Cartoon into film?

Postby bastard_robo on Sat Sep 16, 2006 9:01 pm

I want a Balls out Voltron movie. A serious Space Opera thats also an adult version of Power Rangers. People die, monsters kill, the Drule are like Nazi's, killing and toruting people. Sven would actualy DIE by the hands of Haggar, not just be hurt.

Theres sexual tension between Alura and Keith, while Lance is trying to get into her pants.

And i want to see Voltron fuck some Robeast shit up!

I would also like to see a badass Inhumaniods movie. WETA would have to create the effects for the Tree and rock people. Decompose, Metlar and Trendil have to be done through Mocap work.

I would also like to finally see a Johnny Quest movie. One that harkens back to the original series's pulp like feel.

FUCK! I forgot the most kick ass of all series that could make the most badass film.

DINORIDERS!

It could make more money than all three Jurassic parks.

Future People riding heavly armoured Dinosaurs that have Cannons attached to them, while fighting a race of lizard people with they're own dionaurs with firggin lazer beams attached to their forheads!
