Anime, cartoons and 3D. Animated shorts and features. And don't forget the animation genius in Bulgaria.

You know what though? About a year ago on satellite I saw "He-Man" on the menus and dialled it in...stoned like a Lord I was. Took me over 5 minutes to realise I was watching some modernised new version...where it was mostly the same characters, but drawn slightly more...well....um....seriously and had a more grown-up tone.

I watched a couple of episodes and people even got killed and shit in one of them. It just felt kinda wrong.

It was pap I know - but I preferred the original with its stoopid (sic) Ram-Man and cowardly Cringer....

Fuck Orco though...fuck him in his stupid-ass-clown-hat.....

Especially if the Frankenstein monster had to wear a football helmet and peed himself (because he's ALF).

Did they get "Rick Moranis in Gravedale High" in Canada?

Jesus, that cartoon was stupid. I wouldn't want to revisit that bullshit.

True, however, the insect-glove-transport with battery operated wings was tits. Most of the 80's toons I loved were nothing but ads for Hasbro or Kenner, but fuck it; the bug-mitt was hot.

Captain Power I always found a little suspect; never had the gear, and the show was crap.

Inhumanoids - have to try and find an episode, see what's going on there.

Anyone ever catch The Secret Railroad? It was produced in Quebec, and the French version was called Les Voyages du tortillard . This show was seriously tripped out, kind of a Yellow Submarine type thing happening. It aired on TVO and Global in the early to mid 70s.

This kid Simon goes into the creepy ass-basement of his slum apartment every night, and some kind of pan-dimensional Railcar comes through and picks him up, and the episode has begun.

The Kid and this old man, Mr. Passenger, go on these fucked quests, voyages, trips…whatever; it ruled. Mr. Passenger had a cat, Melanie, and the Kid had this girlfriend in the other dimensions, chick with an afro shaped like a star.

How about the Poddington peas, anyone remember them?

"Down at the bottom of the garden,
Amongst the birds and the bees,
There are a lot-a-little people,
They're called the poddington peas"

For a start they aren't people, they're peas. and secondly they aren't from poddington... This series was made by a group of people from southend, and as such, is cheap and rubbish...

i think there were actually 2 different series of "Groovie Ghoulies"

the first one was shows featuring the ghoulies exclusively

the second was more of an anthology type series, where groovie ghoulies bits were placed as bumpers between other cartoons. and you would always get different cartoons too. although the two they would always show the most were animated versions of Lassie, and Gilligan's Island.
The other cartoons were of lesser to unknown characters like "Fraidy Cat", an animated version of "My Favorite Martian" and "Wacky and Packy" etc. there were several others, but i cant remember them right now. they never showed the good ones anyways. just gilligan and lassie, like i said.

there is a groovie ghoulies dvd, or dvd set coming out very soon, if it isnt out already. however, i dont know if it is going to be the first or second incarnation of the ghoulies. but the way that rights issues go down these days, im putting my money on the dvd being of the first series. way less rights to haggle for, and people to pay.

its a bummer for me, because i used to watch the second one.

Houndcats, anyone? It was a "spoof" of Bearcats, a one-season show about renegades in the '20s running around in a Stutz Bearcat. The original show was dreadful and the takeoff was worse.

Mighty Max was a bizarrely dark cartoon as I recall.

What was the name of the (and this is real!) cartoon where four dinosaurs in some kind of mock 20's (including finger clicking and gangster suits) would fight crime in robot suits?
