Hair High

Bill Plympton's latest Hair High is set for what's sure to be an extremely limited release.

I love me some Plymptoons, 'prolly will have to wait for a DVD release, and while early reviews haven't been all that raverrific, I always give Plympton the benefit of the doubt.

oh and, hey, anyone who can't play any of the clips or open up the flash site I've got a tip for you, courtesy of BoingBoing.

I haven't dl'd it yet, but it sounds pretty nifty.

i actually saw "Hair High" at comic con in 2005. plympton is so cool. every year he comes to con, and totally hangs out with the late night crowd. the die hards that are still there at midnight waiting for someone like bill plympton to screen his stuff.

i absolutely adored it. albeit i was pretty hepped up on the prescription goofballs that night, but i loved it nonetheless.
plympton has this weird kind of absurdist streak, yet all of his stuff comes out of normal everyday life. Hair High was no different. some of the sequences moved me, because i swear that i had been there, whereas other sequences had me crying with laughter at their ridiculousness. fabulous piece of art, this "Hair High" be.

plympton is not only a super nice guy in real life, who really gives a shit about his art, but he is also a genius. glad to know there is some love for plympton out here in the zone!

expectorating with expectations now.

fuck, I gots to get me to a con.

good call on "absurdist...out of normal life". Gondry reminds me of Plympton in that respect.

I didn't get any of that normal life vibe when I saw it but that probably has somehing to do with me not being American. But the absurd stuff is definetely there.

Weired movie but I would recomend anyome to give it a try.

the biggest one that sticks out to me (no pun intended i suppose) was the chicken team mascot with the hard on.
i was totally bizarre, yet, i so identified with that kind of sexual sort of angst as it were, for lack of a better term. how about we call it adolescent libidinous repacity. although, even though no longer an adolescent, the repacity doesnt seem to be waining.

Elitism is positing that your taste is equivalent to quality, you hate "Hamlet" does it make it "bad"? If you think so, you're one elite motherfucker.
