From soundtrack.net:

Composer Shirley Walker, best known for her television work on "Batman: The Animated Series", has died of a brain aneurysm at the age of 61. Most recently, Walker has been known for her work on the Final Destination series of films, and had just completed Black Christmas for long-time collaborator, director Glen Morgan.

She was a wonderfully sweet, kind and generous woman, and will be missed.

Walker composed some truly great, iconic scores. I don't think it's a stretch to say the DC Animated Universe would not have been the same without her.

The theme from BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES is one of the only things I can play on the piano. I play that and the beginning of Ride of the Valkyries everytime I mess around on one. Salut, Ms. Walker.

Wait, adults buy soundtrack CDs to animated comic book shows?

Obama was right, the private sector is doing just fine...
