What if they pulled a reverse Cloverfield and you only see Wall-E for about three minutes in the film itself? How funny would that be?

Seems kinda pointless to me.

It's the first to not show anything from the actual film (unless there is a white screen vacuum cleaner fight, or extended cafe discussion between Pixar animators in the final film)...

I could have sworn that we saw some kind of a teaser last year that just showed WALL E walking around, and had some concept sketches of the movie. Probably buried in this thread somewhere...

The first teaser trailer was a sort of "history of Pixar" thing showing how the Pixar guys came up with their movie ideas - link

Then we had a second one, with the lightbulb changing and extended look at actual movie stuff - link

I prefer trailers that don't show what's in the movie. I'm going to see the movie to watch the movie anyways, so why would I want to see it on T.V. for weeks at end? The WALL.E trailer was great because it gave you a sense of what the movie is going to be like and was entertaining as hell without giving the movie away.

It WAS cute. I think the Buzz and Woody thing was nice. When I heard their voices I did think it was an add for a Toy Story 3. Guess I'm just a very big kid, since I never get sick of their characters. :)

Wall-E is just to real. I can see already that I'm going to be emotionally exhausted when I see that film. His eyes are just so darn expressive. Pixar's animation just gets better and better.

From what I've seen of WALL-E, I'm convinced that it's going to be E.T. big. I've haven't felt more certain about a movie in a long time. I've seen 15 minutes of it and it's just sheer magic on screen. It's going to be a classic for the ages.

Agreed. Just the fact that Pixar took the time to make up whole new animated sequences that don't have any part in the movie impresses me. It shows a lot of devotion and confidence in their character.

No, I didn't just watch the Super Bowl trailer. I've got something in my eye. Really.

Yeah, but Pixar does that all the time, don't they?

Regardless, Wall-E is bound to be some quality cinema.

Heh, on the day I say there hasn't been enough of this shown for it to be my most anticipated movie, a new trailer comes out.

It looks stunning, and I'm detecting the lack of dialogue in the film, how much of it will be like that I wonder?

Unusual design for Eve, I thought.

I suppose I was vaguely hoping they wouldn't go for a very token, overly cutesy female design, but if anything, save for the voices, they're both relatively genderless.

Androgyny for the win, it seems.

It lends itself to that atmosphere of innocence, I'm thinking.

I always feel a little doubtful, that something won't meet my expectations. It's not quite as spare and still I as had originally thought. I think, in part due to that image of WALL•E 's eyes filled with the heavens, the concept of a healthy portion of the film of being just with him on his lonesome, I was visualizing something with much more stillness and calm. A gentle elegance, somehow. Or mixture of those elements with that kind of classical, myth-making aura to it.

( Buster Keaton meats ET, maybe, to play mix and match with the touchstones mention that they're drawing from. Hmm, I'm not sure... )

Which overall, I would perhaps have been a choice too far anyway, I think, considering it's still a family film and needs a little humour and touches of animated zaniness around the edges to keep it well balanced.

So I would say that if I have to adjust my expectations a little, it's my fault, something I had anticipated and built up a little in my own mind, rather than what I was sold.

I think those elements are still there, the quietness, the nuance of character, the aura of something magical, just in a slightly different composition.

Even then, I'm very much warming to the the simplicity of it,
all in all, what they have chosen, o' course, seems very beautifuly done.

It still all feels very reduced, and just as it should be.

WALL•E 's gonna have an interesting summer.

Is this the new trailer? I don't think I've seen it before.

It's an odd trailer in how it's constructed. I think I've been conditioned to expect flashy titles, corny music, and rapid editing. Not to mention a BANG at the end. This trailer had none of that!

But it didn't matter, it was still enjoyable. I didn't bother seeing Cars or Ratatouille but I think I'll make an effort to see this one. :)

Crazy suppository shaped crazy chicks...rrrrraaaawr...

I loved "The Incredibles", liked "Cars", and thought "Ratatouille" was a'ight.

I hope Wall-E is a return to the sentimentality that "The Incredibles" had...
