Aagh! It's The Mr Hell Show

Postby AtomicHyperbole on Mon Mar 12, 2007 5:15 am

Hi all,

Not a break to my absence, but thought some of you might be interested in this that popped into my inbox this morning. When I started my career in animation, I did some marketing illustration at the tail end of the production of Aaagh! It's The Mr Hell Show!, Bob Monkhouse's last job.

Although it was a big success in hitting the ground and gathering a regular student following, it never quite lifted off in the UK thanks to some super-retarded scheduling by the BBC and a late-night Sunday time slot. But that doesn't matter now - because it's available on DVD! Plus the cover illustration was one of my first jobs!

If you're a big fan of adult swim, or are one of those aforementioned students, please check it out at -

Take care, y'all!

Looks cool AH.

It looks to me a little bit like 'God, devil and Bob' show that was on a few years ago.

I'll be keeping an eye out for it.

Feel free to move it, but no, it's a legitimate big-scale animation animated in Maya in Canada that was a big hit for the student population in the UK at least. I wasn't involved in the production and am not going to profit from it, so really, it shouldn't really warrant the move.

And it's much better than God, The Devil and Bob, which it was competing against thanks to similar themes. ;)

I hope that it's better. 'God, Devil and Bob' was only slightly amusing. I just liked the fact that GOD was a kooky character instead of a mighty directing power from above.

So this show, what's the deal? Is it a mock variety show with the devil hosting it??

Yes! :D Voiced by Bob Monkhouse shortly before the poor fella popped his clogs. It's a fast-moving sketch show with the then kinda-new (I say kinda) 2D/3D paper-cutout style made popular by South Park. It's pretty vicious.

No, it's too late now. I'm going to go get drunk and quit the thread in a ball of drama. ;)
