FUTURAMA DVD-O-RAMAS

Anime, cartoons and 3D. Animated shorts and features. And don't forget the animation genius in Bulgaria.

I have seen it. And it is quite good.

There are many memorable highlights and I thought it felt more like Futurama than Bender's Big Score.

The 2D Tunnel of Love is rather amusing.

...not quite enough Zap, and after only one viewing (which I was quite toasted during) I hardly feel ready to write anything resembling a review - but this one was good - I mean if you found Bender's Big Score a little in-joke heavily, needlessly convoluted or overly self-referential, then '...Billion Backs' lifts it's game, has it's cast dynamic back in place, and focuses on bringing the funny. David Cross does some good work in this one too, and there's a lot of very kinky penetration going on...

It starts off better than Benders Big Score, but degenerates into a big mess..

I barely chuckled at anything in this.. Although the giant squid thing is an interesting idea it still seems to all go off in a wild tangent at parts.

I'm not sure if these features fail, because their going to made into seperate episodes - which maybe messes up the plot development?

I dunno, I'm rubbish at reviews, but these 'new' futurama's are much more like the newer simpsons episodes - where it thinks it's being funny but really it's just boring...

I really liked this movie. it punchier then the previous as there's loads of characters who I really enjoyed seeing again. Zoidburg was not in it nearly enough and I wonder where it goes from here but I look forward to it.

I thought this was pretty good. The sharp, uber-nerdy humor was as good as its ever been, though alot of the aspects of the Futurama universe which were originally gags have now become standard elements. Because of this, the absurd-o scale in this one was pushing it into near Aqua-Teen levels.

Also were the scores always this good on the show? Its a minor element, but it stuck out for me at times.

I enjoyed it for the most part...
I'll have to watch it again to see how rewatchable it is...

I did find it to be a bit anti-climatic though...

It could just be me, but I always get a little irked when the big threat in films turns out not to be a threat and/or it's not really an enemy at all and everybody just kinda shrugs their shoulders and moves on...

But it still had some classy lines and moments...
I agree that there needs to be more Zap...

It did seem to be a bit up and down at times, the tone and pacing seemed to be a bit askew...not sure if I'm way off base or I was just too stoned, but certain things just didn't seem to flow properly...

But either way, it had quite a bit of the Professor, and none of his annoying "son" so that's a plus...

And I'm always happy for new Futurama so I'm excited to be able to watch it a few more times...

I always watched the "Lost Adventure" that was made in 3D for the game or something...
It had some moments...was kinda creepy to look at...was annoying when it cut to "actual gameplay", and the characters weren't consistent with the way they should be all the time...
But it was fun to watch nonetheless...

And the trailer for Bender's Game looked kinda cool too...
They can have some fun with the whole Dungeons & Dragons/Fantasy genre...and it looks like they do...so I'm already excited...

I enjoyed this a whole lot more than Benders Big Score.

The comedy was notched up as pitch perfect Futurama humor.

The best gag that had me in tears for some god awful reason

"It was just a harmless Land Squid" and that shot of the tiny squid shuffling back into the mouse hole had me gasping..

This was excellent. I was bummed after Bender's Big Score because it was kind of boring, but this was back to classic Futurama for me. I just wish I had one of those Planetary Incinerator Guns. That would be so useful.

I loved that one of the members of The League was a parody of Tick Tock from Return to Oz.

On the whole it was entertaining enough but nothing made me laugh out loud and it wasn't particularly memorable.

I've seen it.

And it's good - a definite improvement on the somewhat uneven first two, and it feels more like Futurama did in it's last couple of seasons.

I joined the ranks of FUTURAMA when it started in on Adult Swim. I grew to love it A LOT.

I even dig these last 2 DVD features, but without a doubt, BENDER'S GAME seems to hit and have the rhythm and comedy of the series that everyone missed. I got the BLU RAY and that was even MORE kick ass. I have SD of the last two and thought they looked good up-rezzed, but alas, I must be blind to compare them side by side, there's no comparison.

Watched it last week, and have to agree, the writers have finally found their stride in combining the overall story with having to make it break down into 4 episodes.

But this is CLASSIC Futurama.

One gag in partic had me rolling:

THE SCARY DOOR: MAN WAS SAVED MY GODS MOST SIMPLE CREATION; THE TYRANOSAURS REX

Cut to a TREX knocking a bunch of UFO's out of the sky and eating aliens

I watched it in four chunks the first time, so last night I tried giving the whole thing a go in one sitting.

...and the last third, with all the Lord of the Rings stuff, does drag on a bit. Maybe it works as an episode, but there's not enough highspots as part of the film.

Whaaaaa? Granted Zapp Brannigan IS usually the best part of whatever he's in, but to me this is the only one that holds up as an actual movie; all the other ones have pacing issues or extraneous subplots. Plus Beast With a Billion Backs ended all weird.

It's great, the best of the bunch - seems to me they improved with each one, and I think it's just developing a longer narrative that works for the show's dynamic and characters. I will say one thing though, I went throught Season three on DVD recently - fucking peerless, brilliant and hilarious - I think it's my favourite chunk of Futurama.

I'd agree with you there Tape. It does have almost all of the best eps that we all remember so fondly.

I have a question though. What did everyone think about the ending of Wild Green Yonder? I would love it if we had a Lost in Space style next movie/series/whatever. It could be very entertaining. :D

I'd love the 'chase through space in the delta quadrant' dynamic - not so keen on the Fry and Leila in love at last aspect; those unresolved yearnings and sexual tensions have been the source of a lot of both the show's humour and some excellent romantic eps, particular in season four, and I'm not sure if gags about interstellar domestic bliss would work as well.

For some reason it took me three attempts to get through this one. First time I just got bored. Second time I was tired and fell asleep. I can't put my finger on it, but something was missing about it. It failed keep me interested and I was not gripped.

Which is strange for Futurama, as I can usually sit down and watch any of their stories.

I shall perhaps give it another go at some point. But I do wonder if they need to return to half-hour long ideas.

I think the idea of Fry getting telepathy and using the foil hat was a good idea, and would've make a great half-hour story. And the New Mars Vegas stuff was generally okay as well.

But something about it overall just didn't gel right. I remain un-grippered.

I think that the only real thing that has bothered me about the new movies is the 22 minute slice points for the TV releases. Sometimes you can really see the small story arcs that are made for the cut down tv eps. I overall really loved this final film. It was much grander then I was expecting, had everything that I know and love about the futurama universe as well as intergalactic mini golf, A psychic Fry and a weird ass evolution green Chi explanation. 8.5/10 for me... and my favourite so far. Well... it's on par with BWBB :)

I just read on some (honest-to-)blog that Seth MacFarlane wrote and sang that Dean Martin-ish intro ("That was then, and this is too!") to ITWGY. Although I'm pretty sure this wasn't mentioned in the credits so I don't know whether or not to believe it. Anyway if it's true that's a pretty interesting tidbit, also kind of cool, since I had gotten the impression MacFarlane tends to spaz out on his show's detractors (South Park; Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker, who Stewie murders in an episode) and Futurama/The Simpsons haven't exactly been kind to Family Guy. Maybe there's hope for this crazy world after all.

the fact that Matt and Trey are so fucking arrogant and full of themselves that they think they are in a position to look down on Family Guy is a joke in itself. two of the least self-aware douchebags in the biz
