Nope, no contacts, playusa.com don;t like holding on to stock!

They often post out pre-releases early. It'll probably come Monday or Tuesday, fingers crossed :D

There's some interesting reading on gotfuturama.com on the movies that will follow Bender's Big Score onto DVD in 2008;

The Beast with a Billion Backs
Bender's Game
Into the Wild Green Yonder

-story contains a detailed synopsis of 'Bender's Big Score', but you have to highlight it to read it.

'Bender's Big Score had an official premiere at the Cineramadome theatre in Los Angeles this Thursday on November 15th, 7:30 PM.

'cooler' is a neologism, and if you ask me, it sounds dumb-ass...

As if you av has more 'cool than my Dancin' Frye...

*Googling neologism...

:o

:?

Right! it is a word, term, or phrase which has been recently created (or "coined"), often to apply to new concepts, to synthesize pre-existing concepts, or to make older terminology sound more contemporary.

just like I thought...

First impressions, Nice lenticular cover! Shame it is all cardboard, it doesn't post well :(

Non-spoilers:
It's nice to not have the entire show ruined by the trailer. The comic-con footage and subsequent trailer are the first few minutes of the episode.

I am a huge fan of Futurama, it is probably my favourite animation show, so I have been awaiting this for a while.

Pluses
This film is more of the same, it has laughs, some sad parts and bits that are telegraphed a mile away, but still pay off well.

Minuses
At some points it seemed to drag. I think this may actually benefit from the Comedy Central 4 way split. Certain portions are looped and in one long viewing it did become a bit repetitive.

I don't want to post spoilers but overall I thought this was a good release. If the subsequent releases can keep up the quality, then I will be very happy.

Staying Spoily Mcspoilington free in the post. First viewing yielded at least least 3 references to the number "9". Watch for it, there is something to solve here.

Just watched BENDER'S BIG SCORE. Freakin' awesome. I loved it. They are back and as much as I loved it, it is a bit different. There's a slight vibe change. The "jokes per minute" ratio is a bit lower than what it was, but overall it kicked all kinds of ass. Big ass, little ass, ALL kinds of ass. All the original voices are back and the visual style is a bit more 3D and better colorization. Being in WIDESCREEN also made this really kick ass on my 30" plasma.

Viva the return of Zoidberg!!!

Didn't like it that much, did drag on - reminded me a lot of the "newer" simpsons - ie not very funny.

Lots of stuff happening but 'm not even sure they had a plot - it meanders off everywhere..

Don't know why I felt really detached from the characters - they seemed to miss something - not sure what. I just didn't really feel anything for this.

Only laughed at the wagging tale joke - there were some good jokes but I didn't laugh at them -

sorry crap review - but basically it was meh...

Interview with David X. Cohen about BBS. 6 months until the next one. Movie, not interview with David X. Cohen.

The second one guest stars David Cross as a giant, disgusting planet-sized alien from another universe.

Wow, maybe I was expecting too much, but Bender's Big Score was just okay. I can only say it was allright. Suffice to say my expectations were pretty high, therefore it was kind of disappointing. Did they get a whole bunch of different writers or something? It felt like the Simpsons... crappy Simpsons... like the Simpsons over the past five years or so. Bummer.

The only joke that had me LOL was the dump truck o' Panda's... for some reason that had me going pretty good.

Also, did the Robot Santa rap feel unbelievably forced to anyone else?

In the end I will say it was at least a half an hour too long.

That song is the weakest point of the movie. But all in all, I like the reboot. Clears the air, sets some stuff up, it's great to have futurama back. I love the easter eggs, the fun stuff going on all around the screen. Like the Professors bank account number being the speed of light in seconds, time travel formulas on a black board, and 9!!

still dont know what that means.

there were a few visual gags I loved, one in particular. While "Lars" and Leela are on their date in the head museum, top right hand corner...Cartman from South Parks head is totally in a jar..

seriously..

the Prof had some great lines...

"To the mandatorium!"

"I'm sciencing as fast as I can!"

"Aaah, paradox resolved...get a mop!"

and, one I plan on using often...

"Preposterous twaddlecock!"

I thought it was pretty good and it will likely get better with rewatching - the songs are a bit shit but at least they aren't very long. Those alien chaps look remarkably like Cyril Sneer from The Raccoons.

Plenty of laugh out loud moments. Best lines for me were "What's happening? Are you urinating?", "You do a good hand-job Zoidberg" and "How in Satan's glorious name did you return?". Loved the Globetrotter blackboard session and the 'Twelve Laughs A Year' Family Guy calendar. Nice to see Clamps show up too.

A bit cheese heavy though - the same stuff that became a bit irritating towards the end of the last series.

I liked it. I think it was a little too long, even though it was a nice excuse to bring back a bunch of old characters, but overall it was pretty good.

Too many great lines to list here. "I'm Bender from way at the end!"

The "Angel Season 4"-style ending kind of weirded me out. I'm not sure if it's supposed to mean whatever's happening is going to carry over into the next movie or season, or if it was just a gag, like when the Omicronians destroyed Earth.

The next one - "The Beast with a Billion Backs" - is going to follow on directly.

David X Cohen - "...I reassure you that we're going to pick up the second one where the first one leaves off and your questions will be answered."

Full interview with Cohen here.

I LOVED IT! Tape and I opened up the package late last week and I honestly love Benders Big Score. It was just so much fun, and still very true to the series. The everybody loves hypno toad is also one of the strangest pieces of television I've seen in a LONG time.

4.5/5 there's not much more to say...

I set my hype dial to 'OVER' on this one, which is really unfortunate.

I will peg up a proper review some time, but in short; exceedingly high expectations meet on par material.

It wasn't bad, but I thought the direction would take it somewhere the show as broadcast could not. Rather, it was just a long episode.

The episode was passable, pretty funny in parts, but I have laughed more at a single episode than during the DVD's entire running time. Was this yet another side effect of over-hyping myself? Perhaps.

The Second Futurama (straight to video) movie is released June 24th in the US, and reviews (with lots of spoilers and an interview with John Di Maggio, the voice of Bender) are starting to appear.

Story and talkback on the mainsite here

Apparently this instalment has 20% more Zapp Branigan.

I have to agree that "Bender's Big Score" missed for me as well. I was really expecting it to be great and it was just okay, IMO. With any luck "Billion Backs" will see the Planet Express crew at a S3/S4 level of hilarity, since they've had one movie to get back into shape.

Bender's Big Score was pretty good, although I'll admit it doesn't have that 're-watchability' of the show's better episodes. I'm just hoping there's lots of Giant Squid Hentai with Turanga Leela - I mean, just look at that cover shot...

If I was in charge at Fox, it would be the Zapp Branigan Network, featuring the Simpsons...
