So the German site for WB products shows that September would be releasing Superman|Batman - Journey to the Dark Side.
Now there is no storyline like that in the comics, but will they take inspiration from the Loeb stories like they did in the first movie? Is the second one going to be the Michael Turner penciled ""The Supergirl From Krypton"" with some of the most iconic villains out there? From Darkseid to Female Furies!
Or will they make their own story or adapt plenty of stories from Superman|Batman book? What would you wish to see the Worl's Greatest team face?

What goes on in the mind of a studio exec? Is "The Legend of the Guardians" supposed to be less of a goofy title than "Guardians of Ga'Hoole"? Because it's not, really. Nobody over the age of 10 is going to go "It's a LEGEND about some GUARDIANS! I have GOT to see that shit!" And anyone that young wouldn't care about the title anyway.

Mike Fleming wrote:EXCLUSIVE:
Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton has found a new 3D project. He will direct a stop-motion animated film based on Charles Addams' original ghoulish cartoon drawings of The Addams Family. Illumination Entertainment, the Universal-based family film unit headed by Chris Meledandri, has acquired the underlying rights of the Addams drawings, once a staple of The New Yorker magazine.
Burton's intention is to go back to the litany of Addams illustrations that displayed a sharper wit than seen on the big or little screen before. Other than being inspired by the same source material, the animated feature is unrelated to previous incarnations of Addams’ work: the 1960s TV series, the two 1990s feature film comedies that Barry Sonnenfeld directed with Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, or the Broadway musical opening this spring with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth in the starring roles.
Meladandri will produce the film. Kevin Miserocchi of the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation will be executive producer. A writer will be hired shortly. Burton, whose visual creations are currently on display at a MOMA exhibit that opened last November, is expected to provide much of the visual look of the film himself.
Burton’s experience in animated film is extensive. He last directed Corpse Bride, and is making a feature version of Frankenweenie, the 1984 30-minute short film Burton made about a boy who reanimates his dead dog. That reportedly got him tossed off the Disney lot for making a film too terrifying for a family audience, but the film has since become a cult favorite. Burton recently produced 9, as well as the delightful stop-motion animated The Nightmare Before Christmas, for which he wrote the story.
While there are many post-Green Zone articles speculating how Universal will pull itself out of an extended feature slump, Illumination's upcoming animated slate should be a big help in giving Universal a foothold in the 3D CG family entertainment market. Meledandri left the top post at Fox Animation to form Illumination in 2007, and begins contributing to the Universal pipeline when the studio releases the Steve Carell-voiced Despicable Me on July 9. That’s followed by the April 1, 2011 release of I Hop, with Russell Brand voicing the Easter Bunny, with the Ricky Gervais creation Flanimals coming later 2011. Right behind that is Where’s Waldo and Dr.Seuss’ The Lorax.

Numerous Deadline readers thought the story was false based on an MTV.com "exclusive" report. I stand by my story. The deal happened. Deadline hardly needs MTV.com to become a self-appointed truth squad. That site should stick to its strength --which appears to be aggregating, and all the breathless scoops that come from surface-scratching celebrity junket interviews. As for my own cynical readers, I figure you are the same ones who sent nyah-nyah missives when Neil Patrick Harris denied my report that he would be in the song and dance number that opened the Academy Awards. (He rehearsed with Martin Short, but the latter bowed out due to a personal emergency). You guys should learn to trust me.

Dear Funimation. Thanks and we love you to.
It has just been announced that US anime distributor Funimation will simulcast titles from Fuji TV's Noitanima block of animation on their website, YouTube channel and Hulu with English subtitles within an hour of their Japanese airing. Included in this block: Mind Game director Maasaki Yuasa's latest, Yojohan Shinwa Taikei, now given an English title of The Tatami Galaxy.
The Tatami Galaxy makes its debut this Thursday. The other big title of the block - The House of Five Leaves - has its first episode available now.
I do believe that this marks the first time ANY of Yuasa's major works have EVER been legally available in North America and hopefully this marks the beginning of a long stream of recognition and acclaim for a man I truly believe is one of the great unheralded talents of the animation world today.

SAM THIELMAN wrote:On Wednesday morning at Time Warner Center's Rose Hall, Cartoon Network announced its upcoming slate to ad buyers, with the help of a man floating on balloons attached to a lawn chair (courtsey of "Dude, What Would Happen") and a megaphone-wielding Andrew W.K. (the rocker hosts "Destroy Build Destroy" on the net).
Turner animation head Stu Snyder tubthumped the net's returning series, including the only two survivors of last year's kid-targeted reality show extravaganza, "Destroy" and "Dude." Now, Cartoon will be revamping the classic Looney Tunes characters, moving Bugs and Daffy et al to the suburbs and including 2 and 1/2 minute CGI shorts in the middle of each half-hour ep. "Space Jam" animation director Tony Cervone is a supervising producer. "Looney Tunes" is set for a late 2011 preem.
Another famous Warner property is getting the CN treatment: MAD Magazine has spun off "MAD," a series of quarter-hour shorts featuring pop culture parodies and animation resembling "Spy vs. Spy" cartoons and Don Martin drawings.
Programming head Rob Sorcher tubthumped no fewer than four high school-related superhero properties at the presentation. Two scripted live-action series, "Tower Prep" and "Unnatural History" (set to premiere June 13) focus on mysterious extracurricular activities and at least one extraordinary teen, and longtime Cartoon animator Genndy Tartakovsky has a new series called "Sym-Bionic Titan" in which three aliens must hide from their enemies.. by disguising themselves as high school students. Telepic "Firebreather" (helmed by "Aeon Flux" creator Peter Chung and held over from last year) follows the CGI exploits of a young superhero trying to fit into, yes, his high school.
Ad buyers, prosepective licensors like Penguin Books, and journos mingled beforehand in the atrium, where chichi AM eats were served alongside Tom Collins glasses of strawberry banana juice and pretzel sticks wrapped in salmon.
Snyder and Sorcher's pitch depended more on assertion of value than stats, though the net did have its "Adventure Time" ratings to lean on from the April 5 premiere. The message switched from last year's "changing voice" to this year's "adding great brands and beloved franchises," in Snyder's words.
Reel for "Tower Prep" went over well with the aud, as did the promo for the ongoing season of "Adventure Time," which developed out of a short produced and aired on competitor Nickelodeon. Indeed, the half-hour comedy show was the most omnipresent property at the presentation, with actors in "Adventure Time" costumes coming out to join Andrew W.K. and his band at the end of the session.

An AICN reader called, simply, The Collaborator, dropped us a line offering some details on the next ICE AGE movie.
I'm not referring to ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS (trailer HERE) which hits theaters early July. We're talking about the film after that.
Didn't know there was one after that? I didn't either, honestly. Read on...I haven't seen this reported anywhere, so hopefully this is of some interest.
Even though Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs hasn't even hit theaters yet, it seems a fourth Ice Age film has been well underway or the past few months. [SOURCE'S CONNECTION TO PROJECT DELETED BY AICN] friend of mine says the 4th installment sees Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Scrat frozen solid and accidentally defrosted in a museum in present day.
At this stage the film is being called "Ice Age Th4w". Guess that sees the end of any future Ice Age movies being set in prehistoric times but this could be an interesting new direction for the franchise.
This idea also mirrors recent events where a perfectly preserved (Frozen) baby woolly mammoth was discovered on a Siberian riverbank earlier this year.
Call me
The Collaborator
To the best of our knowledge, this is The Collaborator's first contribution to AICN (and hopefully won't be the last). As such, consider the above info as originating from an untried source until we learn more.
This said: shaking up the series like this...taking well established characters and throwing them such a whopping curve ball...could either be a truly brilliant and fun stroke, or a complete disaster. Interested to see how this pans out...
