A recent email survey from Marvel/Lionsgate reveals their possible plans for the 'Hulk Smash!' animated movie. Plans could call for jade jaws to duke it out with Thor or Wolverine.

Hulk Vs. Wolverine
ALBERTA, Canada. The smoldering wreckage of a town-the latest casualty of a rampage by the monster known as The Incredible Hulk. Over the past week, Hulk has been tearing a line across the Canadian wilderness, leaving a swathe of destruction in his wake. He has to be stopped, and there's only one man up to the job. He's Wolverine, and he's been put on Hulk's trail with a single objective: stop the green goliath...at all costs. Hulk and Wolverine are about to enter the fiercest battle of their lives.

Hulk Vs. Thor
ASGARD, realm of the gods. For ages, Loki the trickster has sought a way to bring defeat to his accursed stepbrother, Thor. But for all the battles Thor has fought, in all the nine realms, only one creature has ever been able to match his strength-a mortal beast of Midgard known as The Incredible Hulk. Now, with Odin the almighty king of the gods deep in a regenerative sleep, and the forces protecting Asgard at their weakest, Loki is finally ready to spring his trap. In an epic battle that will pit gods against monsters, only The Mighty Thor can hope to prevail. But to do so he must survive a perilous quest that will take him into the very depths of the underworld itself.

The title and the way the trailer is structured (Wolverine coming to in the middle of a beatdown by the Hulk) makes me think that the idea to make an entire movie about it was at least inspired by that storyline, but he is also conspicuously in one piece, and considering he and the Hulk have had numerous run-ins over the years, it's probably not an adaptation of any one of them in particular.

Little bit of geek trivia, the last shot of the trailer looks like an homage to that famous Hulk cover:

We've done a number of posts on Batman's recent animated outing, but there are some other masked heroes getting big DVD releases, too. Marvel and Lionsgate have teamed up to release a slate of direct-to-DVD animated movies that are more mature than the usual Saturday morning fare, but impossible to tackle in a live action film. Their first release, Hulk VS, comes out in January 2009. If you hadn't guessed by the title, it stars the purple-trousered one, and follows him through two of his most famous brawls with Thor and Wolverine.

But a few lucky people -- a few thousand, at least -- will get to see the first half, Hulk vs Wolverine, at its ComicCon premiere on Thursday, July 24th at 4:15. (I'm not kidding on the thousands. It's playing in Hall H which fits a ridiculous amount of people.) Whether or not you plan to catch it there, you can still watch the trailer courtesy of Marvel.com. It looks pretty darn fun -- there's adamantium bone-setting, the gloriously drawn Canadian Rockies gracing the background, and a very famous one-on-one showdown to be had. Yeah, I'll be watching this. Will you?

From MTV: Marvel Unloads ‘Hulk Vs. Thor’ DVD Trailer
Casey Seijas wrote:Back in July, Splash Page brought you the first exclusive clip from Marvel and Lionsgate’s upcoming “Hulk Vs.” direct to DVD/Blu-Ray animated feature, showing the classic battle between Hulk and Wolverine in the aptly titled “Hulk Vs. Wolverine” movie.

And now — despite his constant requests to be left alone — Marvel has dropped yet another clip from the January ‘09 DVD, this time showing Hulk facing off against the combined armies of Asgard, led by the Thunder God himself, in “Hulk vs. Thor.”

Yup, there was some talk about this at the Comic Con panel when they showed us Hulk vs. Wolverine (which was pretty cool...kinda brainless, but fun).

This looks boring. Neither the Hulk nor Thor are even mentioned in the preview, let alone shown! Who's idea was THAT? :?
