Anyone seen "Battle For Terra"?

Just saw it on the plane, and blow me if it didn't have the exact same plot as Avatar. For what it was, I thought it was pretty good too. But it just might have ruined Avatar for me.

Is that the one named "delgo"?
There was a story in the guardian yesterday, claiming that the makers are looking into possible legal action against AVATAR. It was the lowest grossing movie of last year, hope that isnt an indication of Avatars to come....

Edit: Story link here, for anyone that wants to contemplate Freddie Prinze Jr squaring up against Sam Worthington.

Nope. Two different movies.

Ah ok. But judging by the hubbub, they are 2 similar movies. :D
I thought it may have been a regional title change situation.

Maybe they'll all get tangled in a legal three-way.

Dont forget Kirks is also threatening Avatar, as he thought of the same idea too. Maybe he can start small on these contenders, and work his way up to cameron Rocky style?

But who will play him in the inevitable dramatisation of "The man that f***ed Avatars eyeballs" ?

William Shatner (CGI enhanced to make him look younger.)

I saw it in 3D with my kids (7 and 9). They liked it, but even to them it was utterly forgettable.
IMO, a direct to DVD movie that got the go ahead in theaters due to the 3D aspect...

How coincidental...that's what I hear about Avatar.

@ papa - Ha!

Whoever wrote Dances With Wolves needs to sue them all.

Ha seconded.

And the man who wrote "A man called Horse" needs to then sue them.....

In 1825 an English aristocrat is captured by Indians. He lives with them and begins to understand/accept their lifestyles. Eventually he is accepted as part of the tribe and becomes their leader.

Can we throw in 'The last Samurai' in the 'to be sued' section as well?

The Battle for Delgo's Avatar has a certain vibe about it. The same vibe that furrypr0n gives off.

Good that I found a thread for this.

I saw a 3D trailer for it before Up. I'd not heard anything about it but the trailer seemed fairly good to me, with a somewhat more serious story and less kiddy orientated.

Then I looked on Wiki and found out it's almost two years old, been released in North America already and noone seems to know much about it.

I think it's interesting that both this and the upcoming Planet 51 are independent animated films and have the same conceit, if not exactly the same premise -- the humans are the invaders. It's probably just a coincidence, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.

It's OK. I'd even go so far as to say it's pretty good. Just not "pay to see it" good. Scifi and animation seldom go well together, but I'd place this film a few notches above "Titan AE" and "Treasure Planet" and about a dozen notches below "A Scanner Darkly" and "Akira".
