MOVIES THAT NEED TO BE REMADE

Postby so sorry on Mon Oct 17, 2005 11:19 am

So I finally got around to watching my latest DVD purchase... the Magnificent Seven. It took me a few days to get thru it. It was boring and had alot of western cliches, and the acting is so "1960-stiff", but i thought the premise/plot was good (yes, i know the seven samurai story too).
It got me thinking... this movie is an excellent canidate for a MOVIE THAT NEEDS TO BE REMADE. I'd love to see this movie remade in the same vein as Unforgiven... the right amount of violence, better acting, showing the brutal life of the old west, better cinematograhy, etc.

Any one else have a good example of a movie that could have been done better?

ROFL

I love the movie, but it needs updating. What bothers me is the hammy photography. Half the scenes were filmed with vaseline on the lense.

I haven't seen Clash of the Titans since I was a child, I'd dearly like to see it given the modern blockbuster treatment.

Birth of a Nation?

Perhaps not.

The Lone Wolf & Cub films turned into westerns would be cool, I know Road to Perdition is from a Graphic Novel based on the Babycart Series but it's not long enough & there is an ending. I heard Aranofsky had the rights but I bet nothing ever happens to that.

Hitchcock's 'Rope'.
Time Bandits.

Clash of The Titans should be left well alone. Jason & The Argonauts, while a much better movie, would be better to remake IMO. The Rock could play Hercules. Etc, etc.

Does the phrase 'release the Kraken' have the same meaning elsewhere that is does in the UK? Well, my childish corner of North London anyway.

Yep. Both excellent and extremely enjoyable first half, but when the Ice Machine gets blown up, it forgets how to tell a story. Just wanders.

AOTC makes you think that films should be remade as a sort of 'give it another chance' and do it the way it should have been done, and do it right away. So when it came out for the first time it in effect, had ended up being a Test Audience type of screening. Everyone complained and and gave suggestions on what hould have been done about it. No Clone Wars for a start was my biggest complaint. Still pissed of to this very day.

PS. Jason and the Argonauts was remade into a TV movie, if I remember correctly.

I truly thought Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars was a great idea that fell flat on it's face. As I was leaving the theater, I kept saying that I wish I had the money to remake that movie because it had so much wasted potential.

I found it really weird that in The Last Dragon, there was a role change where the Black people played Oriental parts, and the Orientals played Blacks. Not immedialtely obvious, but when a Chinese dude calls himself 'Bloood!', you start piecing it all together.

They should remake this piece of shit too.

Or simply burn all original copies.

Also, is it me, or are those Nazi schoolgirls being all evil and wanting to kill all Jewish men, a bit of a turn on?

Actually, Witherspoon is in Cruel Intentions. She's one that Ryan Phillippe has to woo to win the bet with Gellar.

Wow, I mustn't have been paying attention to Reese's scenes - probably just replaying THAT scene over and over again in my head, which I pretty much have done for the last 6 years. I don't get her appeal at all, she looks weird man.
