Wow, I remember when this movie had a very gimmicky concept: cast of unknowns alongside a CGI character. It was supposed to be so amazing that you wouldn't find out who the CGI character was til the big surprise ending. That MUST have been a rumor, because I heard it back when Lost World came out, and CGI was FAR from perfect back then. Also, Cameron isn't exactly a "gimmicky" director.

The plot sounds amazingly dull to me, but the concept is what I'm sold on. Besides, this is Cameron. The man is next to God when it comes to directing.

Quint has the story up HERE, and he mentions H@rry should be conducting an interview with Cameron later today.

Bah!

Who needs the news when you can hear it from James Cameron...?

Albeit, the fire did seem to be a bit bigger and more sensational when Cameron was talking about it...

And aparentely it was due to an alien life force trying to take over Malibu...

The Governator has been contacted...

He will be there soon...

I don't know, I admire the vision, but I hope that the story was refined quite a bit from the scriptment version. The characters are like uber-cliches in that thing.

Now, I love Cameron's films...I think they're amazing and entertaining and extremely well-done...

But aren't most of his characters cliches...?

The fun part is usually what he does to these cliches and what he puts them through...

Or is it even worse then the normal action/adventure/event film type cliches...?

anyone see the news that Paramount has signed M. Night to do a movie based on the Nickelodeon series, "Avatar: The Last Airbender"? and a Paramount exec has said that they own the rights to the name "Avatar" and that no other studio can use it.

New Interview with Cameron

It doesn't seem terribly groundbreaking, but he goes into a little bit of detail on the progress of Battle Angel Alita and elaborates on some of the technological innovations that inspired him to make Avatar in the first place.

Also, although this news has been around since January, Australian actor Sam Worthington (Somersault, Gettin' Square, Macbeth) has been cast, as well as an American actress I don't know named Zoe Saldana - she was Anamaria in POTC Curse of the Black Pearl and was in Crossroads with Britney.

Cameron describes Worthington as a young Russel Crowe

Fairly certain that the image is a fake. I mean it looks like a closet over on the left. I am no expert about this type of stuff...but it just rings fake to me.

Whether it is real or not really does not matter though. I mean it doesn't really offer us anything.

2009 just seems so far away. I want this NOW!

The poster looks a bit ID4 Transformers for me!

Is it fake? Don't know...

But I will state the obvious and say that thats Sigourney Weaver on the top left (then one across)

Maybe she'll have a really cool and awesome death scene...

Like Paris Hilton in House of Wax...

That would make it more worthwhile...

It just seems to me that James Cameron can get anyone he wants to be in his films...why choose such a horrid actress like Rodriguez? It pains me to think that I am going to have to wait until 2009 to see this film and when it finally arrives I have to put up with her being in it. Sigh.

I'm glad that my view of Rodriguez is a view that finally seems to be universally shared by others. Really, I don't think she can act hardly at all from what I've seen of her.

Her 'method' of 'If I can squint my eyes and glare and keep my mouth open and pull a 'I'm really bothered' face' acting. Well, I see no method there at all.

Another 'I'm TRYING to act' performer along the lines of Good ol Mr Squinty Eyes himself, Orlando Bloom. Man, let's hope she's given a thankless part and we don't need to see much of her.

The good news here is that she has evolved as an actress. She used to just lower her head and look upwards at you which was supposed to be "tough" or "menacing."

Now here's the thing... Rodriguez the PERSON? Cool as hell. I like her. Rodriguez the ACTOR? No good. Not a fan. Although she had one of the better flashbacks on Lost, that's for sure. And I actually felt really bad about her exit from the show (the character's story, not her DUI stuff).

Bottom line, yah, Jimmy needed a tough hispanic chick. Fine by me, he'll direct her ass in line, he won't go for any of that Acting 101 bullshit she pulls so often.

Apparently Michelle Rodriiiguez was good in Girlfight. Seems that since then shes been the same in everything.

Right about Orlundo Bland though.

Heh! The David Caruso method.

I've never been much of a Rodriguez fan, and I'm convinced it's all in the roles she's in. My favorite that I've seen her in is in Lost when she meets Jack in the airport. Once she's on the island she's in full typical Rodriguez mode, but the airport scene was pretty good.
