I always thought Incredible in French was Incredible pronounced differently. I have just found a French site for the Hulk game called L'Incroyable Hulk though so obviously they use that word too.

Oh, back on topic, just watched the 2003 Hulk on Sci-Fi tonight.

I stand by my statement: If Ang Lee's Hulk was a 6/10, the new one is still a 9/10.

AWESOMEO ACTION, god damn it he smashed them hard. About time a superhero finally kicked some royal asses on screen. Great hulk kino, but I liked the characters story better in Ang Lee's version. But this was a much better action film overall. 7/10

It occurs to me that the very best 13-word summary of the movie is contained in its MPAA rating:

The MPAA wrote:sequences of intense action violence, some frightening sci-fi images, and brief suggestive content

Both, I suppose. Don't get me wrong; I'm all about intense action violence and frightening sci-fi images, and any ammount of suggestive (if not outright questionable) content.

i thought this hulk movie was light years better than ang lee's version. bana sucked as banner and norton was great. wasn't so thrilled with liv tyler as betty tho. loved the lifts from the book itself (the metronome and "mr blue/mr green" conversations). still think they could make the hulk look less CGI tho.

the scene when blonsky was jumping all over fighting the hulk on the college campus was balls out terrific. i had clear visions of cap kickin the shit outta some nazis and whipping his shield around from that scene.

and i'm really glad that marvel is doing their movies in-house now. the character cross-overs will open new avenues for comic book related movies.

k..now that i've totally outed myself as a supreme dork and being a newbie here, please let the hazing begin.

Not bad, not bad.

Still prefer Lee's version for the following reason: it's central idea was psychological - the whole "not letting your anger control you", and betty's part in all of it is fundamental. Lee made this the central topic of the film, and hence the movie turned out to be more psychological than action-type. That's why all you geeks prob prefer the new version over Lee's, and it's also prob why the fucking money-grubbing dipshits at Marvel decided to remake this movie.

In this vein, I did like how this new version took a new approach to this, and that's where you can see Banner at the end "controlling" his anger by provoking it. That was one more step in the right direction, I think. I guess that's something good and positive that this new film can add to the franchise...

Finally, I'd just like to say that Hulk's "clapping" move was FUCKING AWESOME.

oh i dug the psychological aspect of lee's hulk, what was incredibly annoying were all the "panels". they gave me a headache. the gamma dogs were dumb and i didn't care for nick nolte in that movie in the least. he was banner's dad but also the absorbing man?? WTF?

maybe if they made a mash-up of the 2 it would turn out to be the perfect hulk movie.

Exactly what I thought. Go Cap. And Avengers.

I gave Hulk 8/10. I really enjoyed it for the most part. And the Stark cameo was an awesome way to end it. Iron Man should have done the same with Nick Fury instead of putting him WAY at the end of 22 minute credits.

totally agree about the fury cameo in IM. i think the stark cameo in hulk was supposed to be after the credits, but they moved it to right before the credits cuz a bunch of people missed the fury cameo. not sure about that, just have a feeling. i only say that because that little scene seems kinda disjointed.

Yeah, it'd make more sense to end on Norton's smile into the camera than the Stark bit. I'm sure that was supposed to be after the credits.

I know a guy who's seen Iron Man three times so far. He's not what you'd call a comic book fanatic, but he's passingly familiar with most characters, thanks to the TV cartoons that were on when we were young.

When I asked him what he thought about the Nick Fury bit, he had no idea what the hell I was talking about. He'd never stayed through the credits. He was pretty thrilled about the cameo-in-question in Incredible Hulk, though.

If Marvel is trying to build a buzz about The Avengers among Mr. Average Moviegoer, I've got to think that they made the right call by moving that cameo in Incredible Hulk to before the credits.

What they should have done with both movies was to end them, jump to the fancy credits, and then play the cameos right after that then roll the full credits. As much as I liked seeing Stark, it did seem to just be kind of stuck on their, and I had to see Iron Man a second time to see Fury. I KNEW about his cameo and still walked out early.

Oh and I want a Carol Danvers cameo... STAT.

The most shortsighted decision by a director in years. That editing is somewhat annoying the first time but it absolutely ruins any chance of re-watching the film.

See, it's weird. That editing is one of the only things that I still really enjoy about Lee's Hulk.

Me too. At the very least, I'll give Lee some credit for a creative experiment with the editing.

For anyone keeping score, this was the correct answer.

And Hulk fucking rocked my socks off. I really didn't expect much out of it at all. As an Iron Man geek I hadn't, honestly, even really thought about the film much leading up to it.

I like Lee's Hulk more now than I originally did, it has grown on me, but this was a lot more fun for me. It was pure comic book, visceral and fun. They gave Banner and Hulk some substance without making the film quite as dark as Lee's.

Norton was fine, all of the acting was ok, nothing that blew me away. The quieter moments between Bruce/Hulk and Betty were pretty nice for the most part. There was a little humor injected here and there which worked for me. I hate to sound completely shallow but it was really the action sequences and the "easter eggs" that got my geek juices flowing here. The references to the superserum and Cap were nice, and of course I loved seeing RDJ again, albeit briefly.

The action was very solid, taut, well paced and well-done, I think. In the last film I was always very conscious that Hulk was a cartoon. Here i was able to put that out of my mind for the most part. There were certainly times when Hulk didn't look quite "real", but generally it worked for me.

A couple of brief highlights: HULK SMASH! And the Hulk clap thing WAS awesome, maybe my favorite "action moment" of the whole film. The fight at the college was great too.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting much and I ended up having a lot of fun with this.
