Have they cast this yet? I remember them saying Chewie Ejiofor was being sought for the villain and Penny Cruz for the female lead. Any word on this?

News Round Up 21st September 2014:
MI6 rounds up the latest news on Bond 24 including the sound department, Morocco, and casting
Supervising sound editor Per Hallberg will be returning from 'Skyfall' to continue his award winning duties on Bond 24. Hallberd accepted the Academy Award alongside Karen Baker Landers for Best Achievement in Sound Editing for 'Skyfall'. It will be the 75th credit in a sound department for the Swede, who has been in the industry since 1971. Aside from 'Skyfall', his other big credits include 'Gladiator' (2000), 'Devil's Advocate' (1997), 'Braveheart' (1995) and 'Blade Runner' (1982).

Daniel Craig landed in Marrakesh, Morocco, on the weekend. The country is being lined up for location work on Bond 24, with 007 himself paying the region a visit. According to local press, filming may take place in the south of county and may double for a different real-world locale. Over the decades, the region has been used by films such as 'Lawrence of Arabia', 'Cleopatra', 'Kingdom of Heaven', 'Alexander the Great', 'Gladiator' and 'Troy'. Back in 1987, 'The Living Daylights' filmed there as a double for Afghanistan. Of all the countries scouted earlier in the year, the least is known about how Morocco will be used.

English actress Joanne Froggat, who was first linked to Bond 24 back in April, was very coy in a new interview about her prospects on the film. When the Downton Abbey star was asked if she had screentested for a role, she replied: "I can't comment really on that one. Who wouldn't like to be a Bond girl? I am not the Bond girl type. I would probably be more a Q or an M...we'll see. I don't know."

As the start of principal photography on December 6th is fast approaching, casting is in full swing. The avalanche of press speculation and media buzz surrounding the new members of the Bond series is set to snowball in the coming weeks.

If that is true, I feel Seydoux is a very good choice.

UPDATE: Dave "Brass Body" Bautista cast as henchman.

I don't have strong feelings about this casting one way or the other. He certainly is big. I hope they come up with a cool distinct look for him. Maybe make his face unrecognizeable.

I was hoping for Matthias Schoenaerts. Maybe next time.

I think I'll put my money on Lana Del Rey doing the next theme song. I'll also hedge that bet with a smaller bet on Lorde.

EDGE OF TOMORROW Screenwriter Polishing BOND 24 Script
An article by the New Yorker reveals that Edge of Tomorrow screenwriter Jeremy "Jez" Butterworth is polishing the 24th James Bond film, which is being directed by Sam Mendes ("Skyfall").

Playwright Jez Butterworth on Jerusalem, England and Englishness
As his roistering, raggedly brilliant play Jerusalem returns to the West End for the final time, the writer talks to Sarfraz Manzoor on what the script says about him -- and how it relates to losing his virginity in an ice-cream van next to a Roman wall ...

'Star Wars' Heading Back to London's Pinewood Studios
The first spinoff will be shot at the London facility that served as home to 'Episode VII,' now titled 'The Force Awakens
Alex Ritman wrote:Disney couldn’t be reached to confirm whether the film in question would be Star Wars VIII, to be written and directed by Rian Johnson, or one of the spinoffs, but another source later confirmed that it would be the first spinoff movie. The first stand-alone film, to be directed by Gareth Edwards, is due for release Dec. 16, 2016, so it would likely be shot in 2015.

A source revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that, following Star Wars: The Force Awakens wrapping, the latest James Bond movie would be moving into the same studio space.

Monica Bellucci? Wow! I would've thought she'd be on the list ten years ago, but not now. Good for them for going with a woman close to Daniel Craig's age. Actually, she's older. I can dig it.

I like Waltz as a performer, and I hope he comes up with an interesting angle on the villain character.

It's about time she played a Bond girl.

But will she be a "good" Bond girl or a "bad" one?

Waltz is good, but I'm still waiting for Tom Hanks to play a Bond villain.

They should do a Bond movie where both women turn out to be bad.

Her new album is fucking stellar. I'm pretty sure they'll offer her the gig.

I wanted David Bowie to play a Bond villain and I can't decide whether it would be weird for Bowie to appear as the villain in the film and also sing the theme song or if it would be weird for Bowie to be in the film and not sing the theme song. It's not going to happen either way, so I guess it doesn't matter.

The James Bond Movies Had to Go Darker Because "Mike Myers f—ed us"
Daniel Craig wrote:The truth of it is that I always had this plan in my head is that we got to make them and begin them again and bring all that back in, but it had to happen the way it did. I can't see it happening any other way. We had to destroy the myth because Mike Myers fucked us - I am a huge Mike Myers fan, so don't get me wrong - but he kind of fucked us; made it impossible to do the gags. What I am proudest of in Skyfall is the lightness of touch we've been able to bring to back into it but not lose the drama and the action.

SPOILERS
Latest Bond Film Set to be Most Expensive Yet
Alex Ritman wrote:Emails released during a recent hack on Sony Pictures have revealed that the upcoming 24th James Bond film Spectre could cost more than $300 million and that MGM Studios have been looking to trim costs. Sony will be distributing the film.

According to documents seen by CNN, MGM president Jonathan Glickman sent an internal memo in November stating that the budget for the film “sits in the mid $300Ms,” significantly higher than that of Skyfall, estimated to have cost $210 million before tax breaks.

Before we all get too excited, the SPECTRE script was one of the casualties of the Sony hack, and apparently what's isn't pretty:

New Bond Script Leaks: Execs Scrambling to Fix Awful Ending

I have not read the script myself, but what the execs at Sony call "better" other people still call pretty bad.

I thought when they won that law suit and got the rights to SPECTRE and Blofeld back, that they would hold on to it and use as part of the launch for the next actor playing Bond. I'll admit, when I heard they were bringing back SPECTRE and Blofeld and cramming it into the end of Daniel Craig's run, I had some nagging fears that they would go full Abrams and fumble the reintroduction of an iconic character.

I do like that they are not just abandoning Quantum, that they're trying to include those first two films in this story as well. They mention that Mr. White would return, and maybe he will. I know the actor who played him said that he thought that CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE were both shit and he doesn't want to do anymore of them. But time and money change everything.

I'll also say that I agree with that talkbacker (sportwarrior) who says that the notes and suggestions from the execs all sound really good. I know we have this negative perception that studio suits just want to make the most pandering tacky thing possible, but all those notes in that article seem to suggest they're interested in better defining the characters' motivations and trying to connect points into a story instead of just a series of action sequences.

Also...

"I'm Mickey Mouse, asshole. Who are you?"

That's a total John McClane line. I can't read line that NOT in my Bruce Willis voice.

I agree. One of the most surprising things about these leaks for me is seeing how on point the notes on Bond and Steve Jobs are. Execs have a reputation for being vapid and clueless, but most of them seem pretty sharp. AND YET, it's still nearly impossible to make a good movie, so go figure.

Oh shut up all of you.

I worked on this film and am here to tell it how it really is and make you guys, with your ridiculous speculations about what happens in this movie, shut the hell up.

Mr White is back - but Bond confronts him finding him in his panic room in his alpine retreat. After a conversation with Bond Mr White kills himself. Bond leaves.

Later, Mr Hinx finds Mr White's body.

(It has to be said that on the deleted scenes of Quantum of Solace, the actual end to this film is Bond finding Mr White and shooting his bodyguard and Mr White dead - his death is used as the classic gun barrel gunshot to end this movie. Go figure.)

The beginning of this film has Bond creating an international incident which sends people into a sense of chaos. Bond walks into the MI6 office, notes his displeasure that there are now security cameras everywhere watching our every move, and gets shouted at by M in his office for what he has done.

M confronts Moneypenny about a certain transcript.

Then MI6 is being closed down. We are all packing our boxes when M makes a speech to us quoting a French saying that Glass is meant to break - Maybe spies are meant to disappear. It's a sad scene.

The pics you may have seen today of Bond and Tanner on a boat on the Thames is actually them both off to see Q.

Now I'm not sure about the truth to this idea that my friend has who was approached to play Tanner's double, but he believes that Tanner may end up being Blofeld. Tanner is losing his hair more now than in previous Bond films, and my friend was asked to shave off part of his hair - an indication that Tanner is balding to become the bald Blofeld as we know him. Tanner's actor Rory Kinnear has been known to play sinister just as well as playing nice in the past which gives more conviction of this Blofeld theory.

This leads to a possible conclusion that SPECTRE is instrumental with Tanner/Blofeld's inside playings with MI6 that this villainous organisation is destroying MI6 directly. Which is rather scary.

Also my friend believes Christopher Waltz's character, Oberhauser, who in the novels was a mentor to Bond and a ski-ing instructor (Bond's parents died in a ski-ing 'accident', maybe involving Oberhauser) may be a treacherous character to Bond here ("You don't trust anyone do you James?" - M from Casino Royale) and hence may be involved with SPECTRE too.

So there you are. You guys are all idiots. You all should shut up about where you think this film is going. I'm Cpt Kirks 2pay - and I'm running for Head Admin of The Zone - and firing all of you. Pack your boxes now, and fuck off.
