That'd be pretty amazing, Radiohead has always said they want to do a film score at some point. Although, I think they're in the middle of recording their new album right now, I don't see how they'd have time to score a movie. We can only hope.

no I just wanted to insult radiohead.

It might actually work out well

I'm not into mellow stuff personally but it can work for the mood of a film.

My god, this will rock! They'd be absoluetly PERFECT for the ASD score. It's gonna be a feast of pure imagination. Not in the Willy Wonka sense. In a drugged-out Dick sense.

And anyway, I wouldn't really call Radiohead "mellow". I mean, on their newest album there are several songs which would never even approach that title. People just generally know Radiohead from The Pyramid Song/Karma Police etc, which ARE mellow.

But you know a film score would sound different to their albums anyway, so there you go.
On YouTube or Vimeo.

If they did a film score to this movie, based on their current material, and their guitarist/bass player has ventured off into soundtracking before, then this could push people over the edge and go insane when they see this movie. Well, me at least, would go insane with the mindpopping possibilties of cinema again. Oh, my, I'm getting giddy, I need confirmation.

Everything's NOT in it's Right Place

They're apparently too busy working on their new album to do the soundtrack.

Bummer.

Cheers for the update K.C, bummer indeed. Let's hope their new album is all the better for it, eh?

If its any consolation I found out it was Johnny Greenwood that did the soundtrack to the film Bodysong. I've not seen the film, although I have heard snippets of what he had written for it and if you are a fan of Kid A and Amnesiac then I'm sure you'd like it.

I havent checked out the trailer yet but i bet ol' Keanu will do just fine with this role. Actor is always confused and fried on drugs and Keanu is like that anyways so i doubt this role will be very challenging for him. Im reading the book right now and I think rotoscoping will really work well with the material.

quicktime pro, a mac program called FFmpegX that resizes the video and crops it (once I take a frame grab and figure out the math in photoshop) then Graphics converter to turn the exported frames to gifs then a free program called GIFfun, it would take me ages but I've got all my shit figured out now.

The trailer does look cool, it's just a vectorizer mixed with new school animation, but it's effective. Will it be good? Based off of Richard Linklater's track record of making nothing but some of the worst movies ever, I'm undecided.

I couldn't play the other link either. It does look good. Check out the Books discussion thread, this novel is our book of the month discussion.

Oh, I love Keanu ... just something about him ya' want to protect...like he isn't totally aware of how the world operates and is busy thinking cool thoughts and not watching for the Walk-Don't Walk signs in life. Can't explain it exactly.

I'm not on my own computer because my laptop AC's down for the count (got a replacement on order), and I'm not going to install quicktime on this PC out of respect for the owner(not the easiest program to remove). So I can't comment on the trailer, but from all of your reactions I get the impression it's a keeper.

It's been about eight years since I last read the book, but from what I could tell Fred was a straight-up projection of Dick. It was written in his 70s period which, along with such novels as Valis, were very autobiographical for him. Before he managed to project his personality in the plot and the twisted worlds, but in Scanner it was as much about the characters. This is why I'm still a bit sceptical about Keanu. He just doesn't seem like an obvious stand-in for Dick...

That being said this is still my most looked forward to movie of the year, and as a big fan of Linklater (especially Slacker and Dazed&Confused), I got no doubt this is gonna be great.

+ I just love schizophrenia in movies (see Julien Donkey Boy, Dead Ringers etc.), it's just something I can relate to because I always thought there were two Sepps: The ultra-cool supermodel banging uber-genius quasi-superhero Seppuku, and then there's the other side of me which is the brilliantly funky insanely hip bionic Seppuku.
