sorry bout the quality of the pic... i used to have this on my wall - it was probably almost a good 5 feet high or so...
the red lettering at the top says: The Ultimate Jawbreaker

Image

it got damaged in a move once (or twice) and i had to scrap it... alas...
cost me a good $50 or so back in the day though...

There's another couple that photo based that are quite steamy, including one where Lange's under pants are front and square, but I'm too much of a gentlemen to post it.

I think this is the best that I can find out of the photobased posters...

Image

Ok it's steamy, but it's great poster too I think.

Anyways, it's interesting as you look about, how many different versions there are of even teh classic versions of posters. It would be easy to have several of each film in some cases.

I think if I had any serious money, this is something I would really have to fight myself from falling into.

i always loved this poster - for a really bad/cheesy 80's monster movie starring linnea quigley... i actually know the director and have hung out with him... the poster totally sells the movie as something much cooler than it is... even though the movie is "cool" in it's own way - but it just doesn't compare to this:

I don't know if this was a rerelease poster or what. I've never seen it before. But it sure looks cool.

Yeah. I like the tagline "the secret lies within" as well. The one on the top is a little... senseless, but the rest of the poster is rather cool.

I don't know, am I perhaps seeing potential in this thread, when there isn't any? A thread that has an organicly derrived, self contained history of the most interesting movie posters, pooled here for our casual perusal seems like a beautiful thing to me. I was thinking that it might be be cool to have a compendium of sorts, that people could just come in and look at, from the classic, to the offbeat, to the little known. It doesn't just have to be our favourites. Searching through the ether of the interweb I'm discovering many, that in all my n00bish ways, I hadn't ever seen before...

Ah, but perhaps it's just a foolish dream, can't force these things I suppose.

Anyways in the meanwhile, feast your eyes on these...

This Bette Davis one was actually fairly difficult to find. After spotting it as a thumbnail, I think I hunted out the only reasonably sized version currently out there...

That was pretty much my intent. I mean, I have posters I like to look at for various reasons, but I figured my knowledge of cool posters was rather limited so I wished to petition the fine folks on this board to expand my view a little. And it's worked, IMO. I've seen many nifty posters in this thread I either forgot about or had never seen before. And in my travels, if I come across another interesting poster, I'll be sure to post it here. :)

And BTW, that Nosferatu poster is schweet. 8)

Good call, Rogue.

Easy to get those kind of posters wrong, but they've done a really sweet job with them, I think, the details in the top banner for instance.

(yes I see Christina Ricci, I see her!)

Nice to be reminded of this thread, too.

Anyhows, a couple I've saved recently...

Thanks, DrBeaver & Brocktune, for drawing my attention to this topic. I just spent the last half-hour going "Oh yeah! I have to go dig up X poster!" Which is fun.

I was looking for that one iconic Cabaret poster and I ran across this one. It's so paradigmatically 70s.

I've already got a small collection of his work

Struzan is much lauded and rightly so, the guy is prolific.

Speilberg and Lucas have got him to design posters for almost every iconic film they have made. Del Toro now seems to be picking up on this, he did some promo work for Pan's aswell as Hellboy.

Having Star Wars, Blade Runner, all the Indy films, Back to the Futures, Potters, E.T, Big Trouble in Little China, The Goonies ( the list is endless ) on your C.V. is a real testament to his talent.

I love his Special Edition covers -

And some of those posters are so bootiful too.
