That looked fucking excellent, it's got me really excited. Ok I agree a few things looked incogruous with the boojs but holy fuck those shots of Iorek and the Northern Lights and the production design looks wonderful. And Dakota Blue looks pretty strong for Lyra, she seems to have that dynamism and fearlessness.

Boy I hope so, 'cause this book is BORING.

I bought the trilogy based on the Zone love, and I'm about halfway thru the Subtle Knife, but I'm marginally interested at this point.

I can't see an intriguing movie being made out of the Golden Compass...

I love the books so much that I know there is no way that the movies are going to get it right, so I'm okay with the movies being what they have to be to be palatable to the masses and make some money. Hopefully, then some young precocious children will want to read the books and have themselves a mind-fuck of a good time.

From what I've seen, I think the footage looks great! It looks like Lyra's world looks like a real, deep and lived in world, just like it needs to be. And Eva Green looks better in the shot of her in the footage than she did in the whole James Bond movie. (It makes me want to go watch The Dreamers again.)

Yes it looks Narniash, but I love the poster. I love the art work and graceful detail in the painting and that the picture establishes a close protective relationship between the 2 characters and that there is possible danger lurking out there. It gets me wondering what it's about.

Yeah, I wondered if I'd end up with a mouse named Ralph because 1-it would be all Americanized or 2-their would only be, like, 5 choices of animal or name. And, seriously, only 20 questions?!?

But whatever, I was sadly impressed with my animal and all-over in love with his name.

The whole site is impressive-the music, the narration, the look. It's awesome. I'm hoping it foreshadows goodness in the movie.

He was the first face inside my mind when I heard the voice, but low and behold, I couldn't think of anything all that specific he had been in.

But on an instinctual whim, I checked something, and it turns out that the next thing you can see him in, is in fact... His Dark materials: The Golden Compass.



Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think that's the case.

That should really get some interest in this film out to a wider audience. I love the designs of Lyra's world. Perhaps they were a little to clean looking but overall I think they nailed the style and the mood.

Still downloading the farking HD thing. No need to push the whole 'we made LOTR' thing at the beginning. Or that music that we know full well don't belong to the film as it's so famous already.

Just seen the scenes of the city and the flying dildo though and these look fantastic. Love it! Awe inspiring. Trying to study how real it looks though. It seems to be. I'll check the rest later.

Looks brilliant! Animals don't look real though. The bit at the end looks too cartoony. The morphing and the facial expressions all look too computerised, mathematically motioned rather than natural.

I also think that these are finished renditions too. After all these Narnian trailers and there effects in them being exactly as they are in the film, I have grown to believe this.

I love Craig, but not in this role, at least from what I've seen so far. I always pictured Asriel more regal, taller, with a more authoritative voice. Craig just sounds a bit too high pitched for my liking.

but they fucking nailed it with Eva and Sam Elliot though.

Some of the effects look spectacular, others, not so much.

I concur with you, KC. Daniel Craig is the one bit of casting I really dislike.

Oxford looks a little more futuristic than I pictured, I imagined it having a more Victorian look, like something from H.G. Wells or something. They didn't even have electric lights for heaven's sake.

I just watched the trailer with no knowledge of the universe/story and I must say I was extremely unimpressed. Nothing caught my attention at all...with the exception of the beautiful Nicole Kidman.

I love the idea of new fantasy franchises, but I highly doubt I'll be seeing this. Stardust looked a lot more interesting, IMO.

I like the talent involved. All the actors are pretty talented.

I like the world they've created though, very original, and I might watch the film just for those visuals.

There wasn't anything in the trailer that really made me want to see it, or telling me what it's actually about. Beyond some magical child.
