Yeah, I took a friend along who hasnt seen X1 or X2, (or ever read comic books of any type) and I had some explaining to do when it finished. Why is everyone blue, what was up with hedgehog man, and why didnt proffessor X just move his legs with his mind. Nothing worse than explaining nerdy plot devices and logic to the uninitiated without going red!!
...and so forth.

I saw this movie yesterday...

I left unsatisfied, by quite a bit...
now im not saying it was bad, but there was just so much more they could have done...

Iceman icing up was kickass, as was the utter devastation that Jean caused...

I wish we had seen more of the sentinel, and other than that, i just wished it hadn't been so short...

It felt rushed almost to a point

There were a couple of lines that made me grimmace and roll my eyes.

Wolverine: Way to go Furball

Juggernaut: Do you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut bitch

Here are some things like dialouge and scenes that were cut.

In regards to the corny and/or melodramatic dialogue thing, all
superhero/ sci-fi / genre narratives have corny and/or melodramatic
dialogue
; for me thats part of the charm. That same argument was
used for STAR WARS, and, I dunno, call me crazy, but I think both the
OT and the PT are filled with corny and/or melodramatic dialogue; where
the OT is better is more in relation to the spot-on humorous banter which
was more or less missing from the PT...

X1, X2, and X3 all had their moments of corny dialogue; X3 is being
singled out primarily because of the Ratner substitution, not because of
anything substantially different dialoguewise from the admittedly superior
previous installments. At least, thats imho. I don't see how "I'm the
Juggernaut, bitch!" is any more or less corny then cringe-inducing lines
like, "You know what happens to toads when they're stuck by lightning?
The same thing that happens to everything else." -or- "You know those
dangerous mutants you've heard about? Well I'm the worst one!" And if
its any indication of whether the dialouge was corny or not, the entire
theatre I was in erupted in delighted laughter when Juggernaut said that
line; more or less the exact same reaction when Wolvie called Cyclops a
dick in X1. That appears to me to be good pulpy dialouge; and
something very much in keeping with the idea of Juggernaut as a giant,
lumbering, uncouth brute stymied by the fact that he was pwnt by a
pretty lil' pixie protector...

I Believe that the date changing is an intentional error, for comic effect (coming after the love scene suggesting they spent a month in bed). Cant remember where i read\heard it, but it was the director saying it was his own little gag, rather than a goof.

Nah....wasn't intentional - but Kudos to Johnson...that IS how he laughed it off on the commentary track...he says "Like, you gotta figure, Daredevil had the best sex ever...he slept for a month".

I felt sorry for him (not in a patronising way) - if he had had more time, he could have exercised more control directly over this sort of thing and most if not all these errors wouldn't have made the final grade - but he was reliant on others and they let him down quite badly.

I still haven't seen the Directors cut version - but I hear it is much MUCH better........

I'm a big fan of the flaming bird in the lower left of that first group of four images. (I'd post, but the site won't allow you to Save As.) Seeing it there makes me kinda grumpy that it didn't make the film, even for one small burst.

Here's the continuity error that I figured more people would be talking about. Beast. In X2, he's non-hairy. In X3, he's total "furball." The time between the two films is, at the most, one year. So he's an ex-Xman who in the past year has further mutated into a blue, hairy creature...and everyone is ok with that? Including the president? It's an issue that's easily retconned away...but still, kinda bugged me. B/C when he meets Leech, he loses his hair and blue color...which suggests that's his mutation rather than his strength and agility. But he didn't have that fur a year ago...... hmmm....

Yeah, I just dismiss that along with the fact that Kitty Pryde is played by three different actresses. McCoy was only thrown in the second one as an Easter Egg.

I believe Movie Beast was ALWAYS blue as opposed to turning blue via a science experiment gone awry, as that scene with Leech would suggest.

I'm not complaining about it. I just figured more people would have said something about it. It's totally a retcon I can live with, no doubt, b/c I wanted to see beast in one of the movies.

Three things in films I wasnt expecting....

1) That bit in scanners...

2) That bit in Deep Blue Sea...

3) The Professor... I mean... he exploded! He fucking exploded! Logan must have been washing X-meat out of his hair for a month!

I agree on the pulpy dialogue. The two lines did get the same reaction from my recollection.

I saw it last night and enjoyed it. I think it fits well in the film's alternative narrative timeline from that of the comics. I don't think it's fair to compare it with any of the Phoenix Saga comics as if it was an adaptation when it obviously isn't.

Is it fair to compare one film Phoenix to another? 'Cause they were different film to film. We had a flaming Jean in X2 and a Zombie Jean in X3. Eesh.

You had Phoenix onscreen for less than two seconds in X2 in her true sense - I'm going to go with figuring the longer the entity took control of Jean, the greater the skin degradation became.

Hank McCoy is seen in X2 the movie - not just as an Easter Egg (umm...to me Easter Egg is something hidden on the menu screens on DVD - so I might be getting lost in translation a bit~. He is being interviewed on TV in the bar whilst Mystique is befriending Magneto's guard.....

....and its not good enough I know - but for anyone who is interested, Beast started in the comics as ordinary skin and bones. The Blue Fur came much much later.......but was as a result of mutation....

I've been going around the internet and hearing so romers. I think most of them are wrong but they say that Marvel don't like the X3 movie and are now taking back there movie rights back. And the spin-off thay want Fox to make is Wolverine now. And something about getting New Line to do any future X-men movies. But remember I don't think any of them are true.

My brother saids that this is may not be the frist time that Marvel someone leave and make it look like something they both wanted to. Some say it may have happened over the last CEO of Marvel after something went wrong with Grant Morrison over New X-Men. But like I say there just rumers.

man what's you'er problem? And by the way it had nothing to do with follwing the comics. It manly had to with no stary and being a rushed movie with no Character development what so ever. The only thing it had was it's action seens. And that was it.

Marvel's developing a lot of their properties in-house now. I wouldn't be shocked if they pulled a guaranteed moneymaker like the X-Men franchise into their own studio. It's safe to say the next one will be a departure from the last three, so production continuity isn't as much of an issue.

Truth is that it's Avi Arad that's going to make his own studio. Marvel hasn't made any plans yet. I think Mavel want's to deal with New Line then anything. I mean they seem to see thing more eye to eye with New Line then with Fox.

OK I think that's enough... ;)

Actually, if you look closely there's a stereoscopic image of the film X3 could've been... :D

I think most of them are wrong but they say that Marvel don't like the X3 movie and are now taking back there movie rights back. And the spin-off thay want Fox to make is Wolverine now. And something about getting New Line to do any future X-men movies. But remember I don't think any of them are true.

IF Marvel manages to fenagle back their rights to produce X-Men in-house (they won't), there is no reason for them to go to New Line to release the films.

Their in-house deal is set up with a sort of "first look" distribution deal with Paramount, and there's NO WAY Paramount would turn down distributing an X-Men film.

Also, the last project Marvel had set up at New Line was Iron Man, which they bungled through development hell and eventually lost back to Marvel.

Unsticky your face.

Saw this again over the weekend, was duly impressed once more.

One new note on where Iceman's ice sled could've been used PERFECTLY within the confines of the given film: The moment the X-team gets to Alcatraz and everyone jumps down off the roof, why not have Iceman do a quick ice sled down to the ground? He wouldn't be defying gravity in any odd way, and it'd be a nice way to thrown one more nod to the fan base in there.

It doesn't really matter that it's not in there, but considering he's supposed to be badass Iceman at this point, why not throw that in?

I'm betting that's one of those we might've seen had the film been given a little more time to breath.
