The Last Airbender is still a rubbish title to have.

Does putting "From M. Night Shyamalan" or "An M. Night Shyamalan Film" mean much anymore (like he's a special auteur of something)?

Trailer looks alright though.

That would actually be a better title: "The Last Master Of Flatulence"!

This movie is looking mighty fine.

I'm not even close to an M Night fan... I think the vast majority of his movies have been shit.

But I'm pulling for him on this one. It's different kinda film for him, and maybe that's what he really needed to recharge his creative batteries.

Clearly the last reviewer has no idea of the toon, as it looks to be pretty much the first season in the film.. If he couldnt get his head around that, than the film aint for him..

My money's on MNS blowing this. He's blown it lots, especially recently. Sixth Sense was good, but I had the feeling that he just barely managed to navigate his way through Unbreakable and Signs, and he's been lost since then. I have no confidence in his abilities as a director at all at this point. His only chance is that this isn't his own original material; the script may save him.

Adapted, but the story is already there. The story is good enough on its own merits; not alot of tinkering required.
But if he farks with it too much he can expect the holy wrath of fandom to tear out his spleen.

I know, huh? If they leave out the funny and just bombard us with action heavy scenes I'm going to be pissed. We need some funny here. A big reason why the cartoon works so well is the crazy dynamic between Sokka, Katara, and Aang. I'm also very curious why Aang is so silent in all of these trailers.

P.S. Trailer needs sheep.

Hopefully it isn't because his voice sounds as weird all the time as it did in that quick clip near the end of the new trailer.I guess he had just been crying, but it was freaky.

Yeah, because humor has always been a stalwart addition to a Shamalamadingdong flick...
Me thinks they are trying to exploit his trademark "ZOMG! UNFORESEEN TWIST!" style in the hopes that his fans who haven't seen the cartoon won't think they've been duped into going to see "Josie and the element cats"...

Personarry...I riked it.

I liked the look of much in that vid, but I don't trust MNS...I think he's so full of himself that he can barely stand it,
and he doesn't have nearly as much talent as he thinks he does. So, full marks for whoever did the production design.

i really wasn't thinking along those lines, i admit. he hasn't had a movie that has done anything at the box office in so long i wonder if he is as present in the average jo's consciousness as much as movie geeks assume, frankly. i was thinking more along the lines of a martial arts kids movie being sold to a public that may not be familiar with the material, but HAVE seen bad hammy, camp martial arts kids movies put out by Hollywood in past years. so those in charge of Airbender might want to come across as taking the material more seriously in a first impression for those unfamiliar with it. easier to let out some tension or seriousness with some humor than to create seriousness or tension within comedy, if that makes sense. i agree if they leave out the humor entirely the movie will lose a real part of the charm of the show, though.

This film WILL be infinitely better than the Forbidden Kingdom...*grumble grumble* stick Jet Li and Jackie Chan in one film makes people think awesomeness and it turns out to be the worst trash since one of Bender's turds.

It has to be better. From the angle of the trailer, it looks more serious, less 3 ninja's.

There will be no Cabbage Man in the film. This isn't a super hero that sports a "CM" on his cape. This is a character very near and dear to our hearts that appears throughout books 1, 2, and 3 (it's a running gag showing his various cabbage mishaps). Can't tell you how saddened I am by this news.

When are people going to realize that it ISN'T THE 3D THAT'S THE PROBLEM?? It's BAD 3D. It's shooting 2D then badly converting to 3D that's the problem. Avatar looks fantastic in 3D, because it was intended to be 3D from the beginning and was shot that way. Taking 2D films and duct-taping a third dimension on them doesn't work, and THAT'S what pisses people off.

IMHO.

At least you can easily ignore the conversion and watch the movie in 2d. For me Avatar being intended to be seen in 3d mainly meant an irritating amount of bugs and sparks flying around in the foreground.
