I'm just trying to find a picture of the guy (haven't seen Scumdog million hairs either). Little help Zoners?

I still have no faith in this film, I'm actually tempted to watch Stuart Little and see how he treats action scenes with his script. I am trying to think about the action scenes in his other films (Lady in the water comes to mind more then any other) and there was nothing special about anything he did. I think that he'll be able to pull off the screen play and all of the emotional, and thematic ideas well (mainly due to them being spoon fed to him from she show... kinda like Stuart Little) but the action could really be where the whole thing goes under. Why this dude still gets work after the amount of money he's lost for the studios is beyond me. Give it to Spike Jonze I say....

Hell, even give it to Michael Bay....

I can just about see it if he buffs up a little bit but I think that's not a bad choice. I'd prefer him to be Sokka though.I think Ang has to be Indian or Tibetan.

Maybe if The Water Tribe were played by Innuit or Mongolians?

I'd Certainly like Zukko to be Chinese. Toph should be a Japanese girl and Uncle Iroh, Mongolian :D That would be cool.

Trouble is, getting such a diverse cast together with decent enough actors.

Sokka should be played by an Aborigine, he uses a boomerang.

I don't get that race casting debate to an extend that I can't tell if some of you are serious or not.

I'm being serious because the whole series takes place over different nations and continents, it would be nice to see a variation in cast ethnicity.

Apparently the trailer will be shown with Transformers 2.
Not Cameron's Avatar as was recently reported. There are still conflicting reports though, so who knows.

Make that two.

It looks faithful enough but I miss the arrow on his head.

I'd like to know how they are going to condense the story into one film though. The good thing about Avatar: The last Airbender is that what looked like a kids show developed into quite a nice little adult story over time, let's see if this can do the same.

I don't know, I actually kind of liked it (but then again, I liked the teaser for Lady in the Water as well  ). To me this was night's attempt that he can do epic action, first with the well choreographed staff-air-magic-thing, then with the slow pull out of the caves to reveal more... and more... and MOOORE boats surrounding his island. Sure it was probably a rip-off (intentional or unintentional) of the Troy teaser, when the "thousand" ships were going to wage war on the country, but I just thouight the way it was presented was very good, and it gives me a little bit of hope (hopefully the real kind this time) that Night can deliver another good movie.

Oh, but the one thing that I thought DID suck was the melodramatic, gravelly-voiced narration. It's bad enough that he's some kind of "Chosen One"/"The One"/"Jedi Master," we don't need to be reminded of how formulaic the concept is by some cliched title cards.

Oh and shit, CLIFF CURTIS is in this!!! That's awesome. Hopefully he's not playing a bad guy, but, judging by his track record...

What little we see of the air bending in this teaser looks great! No doubt ILM will pull out all the stops to make this a visual feast. The Fire nation fleet surrounding the island looks extremely bad ass.

If this isn't going to be made into sequels (book 1, book 2, book 3) it would make sense that they focus on Aang's beginnings, learning all the techniques of being an Avatar then jump right into Aang stopping the Sozin's comet from giving the Fire Nation further power. Aang, while learning the tricks of the trade, is somewhat goofy, he's still a kid, so I hope the film portrays this. Does anyone know the storyline for this? Will it be developed for sequel potential, so we don't see the Final Battle, or will it all get condensed into one film?

It's really a great show on Nick. Many people are quick to say it's just another kid cartoon but it's really full of superb action and storyline for us big kids.

I'm really looking forward to this film. I can't believe that they had originally thought of using Jesse McCartney for the role of Prince Zoku. That is just laughable. They do need to make that scar more prominent on Zoku's face. It's his trademark and what makes others feel somewhat sorry for him. I can barely see it in the photos above of Dev Patel.

I got more of a Star Wars feel. Robes over the head. Force push the candles out or something. Then the narration, "He will fulfill the prophesy and bring balance to the..."

SERIOUSLY? Is there anyone who thought the next word wasn't going to be FORCE?

Actually, I think that would actually be preferable. Some freshness in the Star Wars universe wouldn't hurt anything.

I'll get this in now before some fanboy posts it -

"I've witnessed all the other M.Night films and they've all been pretty appauling, but for him to make The Airbender as awesome as this, he's redeemed himself in my eyes".

Hehe! Just thought I'd get that in before some other Night lover gets in. I don't hold out hope for the film as Night's done nothing but gone down since Unbreakable. He's not clever and he's not smart, let's just hope that having a pre-written script with a destined path means he can't stray too far.

I really enjoyed the size of the Fire nation's armada. Like the cartoon there's a real scene of gravity with that wide shot. Looks pretty cool, I don't know about the kid, but I haven't heard him talk yet. I really wanna see hoe Saka comes out, he's a really endearing part of the show and really helps move the story along. And Toff being a dude??? My word... that's just shithouse, but it does get rid of a large chunk of plot I suppose M Shamalangdingdong probably wants to write something new .

I think I would have preferred Dev Patel as Sokka rather than Zuko.

Uncle Iroh should look more like E Honda when he takes his clothes off. I don't like who they've chosen but it might work, never heard of Shaun Toub before.

By the looks alone of Seychelle Gabriel, I can really see her being Katara - even though she's not.. Cute, nice smile, and there's enough room in there for growth over 3 movies. But, Nicola Peltz is the right age to work with Aang, I suppose. Still, she looks far too High School Musical.

I do like Aang especially though. He looks the part.

As for Toff, I can't see him/her in IMDB cast list for the film

PLease tell me they haven't cut her out. I could just about live with the swap, even though it's a shame because without Toph this ends up being more a 'boys own' adventure. Toph was proper hard core, I loved her character as a woman, she was better than Aang at Earth bending and reached a level noone had done.

Posters look great. Man, I can't wait for this film. Depending upon it's success, we can look forward to Book 2 and Book 3 on the big screen as well. I'm very hopeful that M. Night and ILM can pull this one off and dazzle us this summer.

@Papa, Toph doesn't appear til Book 2 and the film is only covering Book 1, so hopefully we will see her character if a second film get's the green light.
