Youch

double youch!.

and

Unfortunately, the finished film feels more like the sloppy, chunky afterbirth of a message film from a man who used to impress me as a filmmaker. I truly hope this is as bad as it ever gets from Shyamalan. This is the kind of movie that kills careers; it certain murdered my spirit for most of a day. It's almost worth seeing just to see how poorly executed every aspect of the work is, but even I'm not that much of a sadist to say that's a reason to watch any movie

the twist ending is that the killer is actually robert plant.

Clearly it will be behind the green CGI this weekend, but I'm curious if it will even take 2nd place.

Remember M. Knight as he once was, dazzling us with "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable".

Wow, this is now the second time this year I'm writing to urge you guys NOT TO WATCH THIS BLOODY FILM!!

Even with his failures (and there have been more failures than successes on Shyamalan's filmography), there were always certain qualities among those films that kept them from being utter disasters. But not this time. The Happening IS an unhinged assault on the art of cinema, from conception to completion. I didn't like The Village, Signs, or Lady in the Water, but they each some elements I could appreciate, but I simply regret having watched The Happening.

Also a couple of scenes were staged like it was 100% amateur hour at Shamalamadingdong productions, and in one statically-framed shot, that should have been dense with tension, there was a very distracting boom mic bobbing in and out of the shot repeatedly. Everyone in the theater started cracking up.

The Happening gets the very rare 1/10 (Lowest Score Possible) outta me. Seriously, if you're curious go read some spoilers, there's nothing salvageable in this film that would make you feel that you didn't waste all your money.

I do have to say Night made a joke in the end credits that gave me chuckle; he's listed as "Joey," a "character" who calls Zooey Deschanel's cell phone but who's never actually seen or heard in the movie. After all the flak he's (justifiably) gotten for giving himself unduly huge roles, I thought it was a canny bit of self-deprecation.

Now that REALLY makes me want to see that film. I'm going to have to pick a quiet night with a few friends, go the cinema tanked up and pull a MST3K on this.

I walked out of the theatre and the trees were blowing around in the parking lot. Damn you M. Knight - now I can never look at a tree blowing in the wind again, without thinking about your ridiculous movie.

Also, was this supposed to be scary?

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, enough with the bees. I assume a high school science teacher knows all the answers to everything, yeah right.

Talking to the plant was not funny, alot of people laughed in the theatre at that scene BUT those were the same people that screamed at the doll on the bed scene, so .....you know.

The lion attack scene was hilarious, not meant to be though. I was the only one laughing. The guy holds out his arm (an obvious fake one) ..then gets them both chomped off. The 'happening' people watch this on a video phone in horror. That entire scene was just so stupid it was funny.

I keep asking myself, did I get this movie all wrong. Is this movie really a dark B comedy. M. Knight has us all fooled?!?!?!?

I laughed at parts that were not meant to be funny, when M. Knight was trying to be funny, I just rolled my eyes.

these problems are almost always due to faulty framing by the projectionist. are you sure it wasn't that? it's hard to imagine a film in this day and age getting through all the editing and post-production and the million or so different eyes that see the film before it's released with a problem as obvious as that. especially when it would be an easy thing to fix with CGI or at least an alternate take.

Really? I didn't know that could happen w/ projectionists? How do they screw it up? Like they get the film 1:33:1 and they have to set it to the correct aspect ratio by aligning it?

Yeah, I don't know the withertos and the whyfores, but it is a problem that sometimes occurs as the result of a projection gaff. I remember when I went to see some movie about two years ago, you could see boom mics in all of the trailers.

Well, I think more appropriate would be The Wind winning for best comedic special effect.

There is this one scene where the wind picks up and the grass really starts to move extremely fast towards the people running on the field, it just looks so funny. God this movie is awful. I know Pacino encourages you NOT to see it, but seriously, it's worth seeing for the awfulness which is funny. Did that make sense? I was actually going to walk out of the theatre, but I'm glad I stayed because it was just so freakin' amusing to watch.
