I saw an article on ComicBookMovie.com that this flick was in danger of getting nixed due to the Hollywood strike. However, I have seen other articles that have talked about casting and such. Do we know if they are even going to make this movie or not? I'm afraid of getting my hopes up.

So I am sure many of you saw the Justice League cast list that the main site ran. If not ,read it here. Well SuperHeroHype has a list of their own (with more characters filled in) and you can read that here. Bottom line. They both suck ass.

Yikes I hope this ship runs aground.

Didn't the main page post a story about this movie being sidelined due to the writers strike?

Yeah, that was from the Hollywood Reporter. It is unclear whether this film will go forward. The HR is reporting that the current script is unshootable. However, IESB has several sources inside WB that say that is not the case and the script is in good enough shape to shoot.

So yeah, the status is quite unclear.

Yah.

This is also running in Variety and...some other industry publication.

To me, this is a good thing; let it sit a while, and perhaps the filmmakers will realize that Common is simply not a Lantern. Common? Really? Cooooome on. Coooooooome on. I can just see it now, GL with a platinum grill that has 'In Darkest Night' imprinted on it.

Seriously though, way hot girl who definitely looks the part. Obivously, there's the "Can she act? / Does anyone care?" aspect to consider, but I point to Tricia Helfer as proof that it can be done! (BTW, I still say Helfer would've been a great bit of casting.)

Who is going to be Superman?
CBR News received the following email from a source who would prefer to remain anonymous ...

I read the Reel Wrap Up of 12/5 and saw that the LA Times was reporting that Scott Porter is set to be "Big Blue" in George Miller's film. A friend of mine is good buddies with Scott Porter (Porter appears regularly on his podcast) and I asked him to look into it, and while Scott wishes it were true, unfortunately he is not set to be Superman. This could be that he has to keep quiet about the project until an official announcement, but I believe my guy. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the data, Anonymous Source!

Horrible. No wonder Bale is distancing himself from this train-wreck.

I started writing a Justice League script for fun and I NEVER PICTURED anyone other than him (or Nathan Fillion, but I picture him in every male superhero role I write) for Batman.

Sounds like a military recruiting film. Or a sports movie.

I always thought the Justice League was a pretty weak concept, anyway. You have Superman and one or two others with ENORMOUS powers, and then a bunch of barely-more-than-normal-human characters. At least, that's how I remember the comic books from decades ago.

It's hard to imagine Superman in any situation that he can't handle without the help of some dude who's really good at archery.

Ok, snide comments aside, this doesn't even make sense.

First of all, isn't the JLA supposed to be more than an American fighting force? Aren't they supposed to protect the world and stuff? I'm more of an Avengers guy (seems to me it would make more sense to title an Avengers movie American Heroes) but I thought that was the case?

Secondly, here's the projected lineup last I saw: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter.

Batman- American...fine.
Superman - Kryptonian. Raised in America...so...I guess?
Wonder Woman - Amazonian, from Paradise Island
Flash - Wally West, American...fine.
Green Lantern - American, basically...fine.
Aquaman - at most half American, half fish-boy, depending on which of the 8 different origins you consider "canon"
Martian Manhunter - Mars

So, of the "American Heroes", 40+% weren't born in America and another is half fish. This is a dumb title.

in reading through this post again it somehow sounds racist. heheheh.

That would be an odd choice. I mean, it could be a Blue Harvest situation...

Not that it matters. The movie will be up there on the upper echelon with Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider, the essential standard for great comic book adaptations.

If an Avengers came along it would clearly be handled better than this. They can only hurt their current franchises by sticking Batman and Superman in a movie cast as different people anyway. Right?

Seth Cohen will rock everyone's socks I'm sure. :?

Justice League of America describes a league of people based in America (presumably the United States). American Heroes describes a band of Yanks out to save the day. There's a distinction there, methinks.

The key words being Justice League vs. American Heroes. The "of America" is irrelevant. The Justice League could be anywhere as a concept. American Heroes are quite decidedly American. How will that title fly in other countries? Sounds like more ammunition for our enemies, IYAM.

The title is dumb. The movie sounded dumb even before this news tidbit broke. Sounds like WB is trying to capitalize on the success of NBC's Heroes rather than stick with the property itself.

I wouldnt worry about it. Its basically Bale saying he wont be in American Heroes. I think its just a "whatever you call it" dismissal of the movie, as he has nothing to do with it.
It sounds like a slip of the tongue and I see no reason reading the article to think the title has changed.

Sooooo...I saw "I Am Legend" the other day.

Anybody notice that one of the old, worn advertisements was a "Superman/Batman" logo? Even more interestingly, it was a "Begins"-style bat-logo with the blue light behind it (it wasn't quite the logo) and the Superman shield from "Superman Returns", as opposed to the "Superman/Batman" comic book logo.

Foreshadowing? Inserted before JLA got off the ground? Just a neat little gag they threw in because, hell, they paid for that promotional art, why not use it?

I'm curious, myself.

Unless this whole thing is re-imagined as either mo-cap or animation, count me out. Every step taken so far towards production that I've heard about sounds like 10 pounds of dogshit in a one-pound bag.

I really hate being so negative towards a movie that is this far away, but... ugh. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they cast Dog the Bounty Hunter as Superman.

The date read 5 - 15 - 11
I'm guessing the exact year based on the time frame in the film because it was conveniently torn.

More like 5-15-09 or 5-15-10, but I see where you're coming from.

Well, here's the thing. This might well just be a cookie, Francis Lawrence or somebody giving the fans a giggle.

But studios plan their tentpoles years in advance. Things can change, of course, but IAL was a guaranteed hit and they're going to exploit that for as much marketing as possible (especially since you can't exactly pump out Robert Neville action figures.)

It's just fun to think about, I think. If this really is a hint as to what's coming, I think it explains a LOT about the directions JLA is going.

If I were Christian Bale or Brandon Routh, I would be running as fast as I could in the opposite direction from this movie. Glad to see that Bale was. It will still be interesting to see how this project plays out. I still wish that rumor about motion capture was through.
