DEADPOOL?!

Postby Leckomaniac on Wed Aug 22, 2007 6:17 pm

So...we all know that Ryan Reynolds wants to play The Flash (Wally West) and all signs point to the fact that he is studios top choice. However, it looks like Reynolds also has his mind set on playing ANOHTER superhero.

Ryan Reynolds Wants to play Deadpool.

And if that article is to be believed...there might be some movement to make that a reality.

DEADPOOL?!

Postby King Psyz on Wed Aug 29, 2007 2:16 am

Wow, just wow...

I honestly would love to see an honest to god hard R action film starring deadpool.

It could escape comic book movies so far as being more of a merc. for hire, action pic, with loads of black humor and 4th wall breaks.

What do you guys think?

I know to some Deadpool is random news fodder. But to me it could be a bad ass epic action movie.

I want Comando here, expect in this version the actor will address the audience from time to time and have a face that looks like meatwad.

OK, to keep this thread alive on it's own...

So lets say this Wolvie flick blows the previous XFilms out the water (and so far, sounds like it may do just that...)

What do you think about a Great Lakes Avengers movie? Don't even bother with orgins for them, just have the government reluctantly granting Wade and friends superhero status and getting into random adventures.

Or if nothing else, they could go the Scary Movie (the good one) route and use Deadpool as a way to lampoon the comic book movie genre that has really started to take hold more recently.

Do a parody of the Watchmen movie, do a Sin City parody, Ghost Rider, Batman, SpiderMan, X Men, Superman, JLA, ect.

Give Wade a cameo in the Avengers movie, I was thinking something like the Avengers defeat a bad guy and as they're leaving Wade shows up ready to fight and his mark is already down and out and he just sorta stands there dejected... throws up his arms and walks away.

Yah, I REALLY hope they don't do a Scary Movie parody with this. Sorry, it's just too much.

Man, this is a character I REALLY haven't kept up with. I can't believe he went from being superbadassassassin to a comedy goldmine for Marvel.

But yah, Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this. I can't think of any other actor with his charisma and physique. It's like the guy is the real life version, only he isn't a hitman (that I know of).

From IESB: Fox Chairman Tom Rothman Goes On the Record Part 3
IESB: So, we get teased in the Wolverine trailer with Deadpool, he's a fan favorite, another second tier Iron Man-like character, and Ryan Reynolds has been dying to play this guy for years and I think that's why he even did the cameo because he wants a stand alone film. Any movement there?

TR: Yes and no, I mean, Deadpool is an integral part of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we are in the process now, of doing all the CG work to create that character at an A +++ level, that's being done in truly as state of the art fashion as possible...

IESB: Scarring and all?

TR: It will be very rewarding for the fans, let's put it that way. It's a high level endeavor because he figures importantly in the movie, so whether he'll spin off into his own movie, if that's what you're asking, I don't know the answer. We will have to see.

Maybe Deadpools scenes are some of the ones that differ significantly between the leaked workprint version and the final cut.

And I have to agree with Ribbons. Shane Black would be an excellent choice for this if it happens.

Yeah, but the latest trailer/commercials show plenty of bits from the end of the movie and none of that looks changed from the workprint version. So unless it turns out Weapon XI isn't Deadpool a spin off film would seem unlikely, unless it was a prequel or something.

Sure! It will be a prequel.
On the other hand, the Wolverine credits say that Deadpool is played by Scott Adkins. Maybe they left a door open somewhere, like a clone or something.
Or Strykers son has something to do with it. He was there afterall.

Another IESB Exclusive: Lauren Shuler Donner on the Future of Gambit and Deadpool
Will we see Gambit in the upcoming X-MEN FIRST CLASS film? Nope, we won't see Gambit in that, he wasn't part of Xavier's first class a the school, but it looks like we may be seeing him in his own spin off film.

Donner says, "There are internal discussions" about a Gambit spin-off and "they are going to figure all that out."

What about bringing back X-MEN and X2 director Bryan Singer for another go around?

"Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan [Singer] on for another movie. And, if it's like the first Deadpool or the first Gambit, I think, I mean, I hope he would be interested..."

Looks like the X-MEN franchise isn't going anywhere and still has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Deadpool and Gambit are coming if Lauren Shuler Donner has her way, and she usually does.

Well, seeing how they pulled a Kroenen with DEADPOOL in wolvie, and the apparent alter ending (which i have yet to see) rynolds could easly come back as deadpool. I mean, all they really have to do is mess his face up a bit more and BAM! His ranting could be upped by what they did to him in the experiments and he could finally have a GUN and a SWORD.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ryan Reynolds has been campaigning for Deadpool for a while now. He played him in Wolverine, but only in the beginning. When Deadpool became Weapon XI, Scott Adkins played him. But now that Weapon XI will probably become Deadpool again in his own spinoff movie, I assume Ryan Reynolds would be returning for the role he wanted so badly.

From Variety: Reynolds to star in 'X-Men' spinoff - Fox has begun development on 'Deadpool'
Twentieth Century Fox has begun development on "Deadpool," an "X-Men" spinoff that will be crafted as a star vehicle for Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The character is one of the most popular in Marvel Comics' X-Men universe. Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a mercenary who, dying of cancer, submits himself to the Weapon X genetic alteration experiment and emerges as an indestructible semi-sane anti-hero. Reynolds seemed destined to play the character. In one reference in the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is described as a mix between "a Shar Pei and Ryan Reynolds."

In one of the "Easter egg" endings of "Wolverine," Deadpool is seen rising from the rubble and whispering "Shhh" to audiences.

The film will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel.

Fox is also in the formative stages of a "Wolverine" sequel that will encompass the samurai storyline that was hinted at as Wolverine sat in a bar in Japan as the film concluded (Daily Variety, May 4).

Separately, Fox is developing "Magneto," a film about the X-Men villain with a script by Shelton Turner, and "X-Men: First Class," which Josh Schwartz is penning.

Reynolds next stars with Sandra Bullock in the Anne Fletcher-directed "The Proposal," which Disney releases June 19. He also completed the Kieran and Michele Mulroney-directed "Paper Man."

From THR.com: 'Deadpool' spinoff in works at Fox - Ryan Reynolds to reprise role in "Wolverine" spinoff
Fresh off the muscular performance of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" at the boxoffice, Fox has thrown into development a spinoff featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called "Deadpool." Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.

Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in "Wolverine" until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut.

It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in "Wolverine," though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug.

The project is out to writers.

Fox considered a "Deadpool" spinoff early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds. The actor was brought back in the month before the movie's release to shoot one of two "Easter egg" scenes that appeared after the end credits. The scene showed Deadpool alive, though when last audiences saw him, he appeared to be dead.

UTA-repped Reynolds next stars opposite Sandra Bullock in Disney's romantic comedy "The Proposal."
