Jurassic World - Can It Save The Franchise? Yup!

Postby JabberJaw on Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:16 am

Not sure if this has been discussed as of yet. I just seen this is going to start production in 2007 with a release in 2008.

I dont know about anyone else but i thought JP III kind of killed off this franchise. Never thought they would keep it going. For me it will depend on the director they get for the project.

I just dont see a need for another sequel (see Jaws).. 1 & 2 were fine..

I think the rationale for JP4 was "Mo' dinosaurs, mo' money."

I read some vague story description taht IV focused on an unintroduced character so far, that was hired to go to some facility to supervise or be put in charge of a special experiment or operation, which basically involved humans breeding dinosaurs, including raptors, as some kind of controlled 'weapon' similar possibly to the Company's use of the creatures from Alien movies, and that they were to be used by policing forces for certain uses or operations.

Then something goes wrong. It seemed to concentrate on the misuse or mistreatement of nature and such dangerous but still victimised creatures, also with the consequences of it.

I heard this description about a year or or more ago.

Moriarty had a Jurassic Park 4 Script Review on the main page awhile back... not sure if this is the same they're using - or if some of it is the same... but take a look... from what i remember - sounds pretty crazy... in some good ways - and some bad ways...

and i thought the 3rd film kinda sucked...and i thought spielberg phones in most of the 2nd film...

I thought it sounded pretty good! - Compared to the others at least.

It does become more Dino's going mad in civilisation kinda thing, which is what I wanted all along, a continuation of The Lost World's ending.

There are some interesting premises in the script. The opening sounded very cool. Who knows, maybe they can pull it off

Goooord. Had to happen soon enough eh? As soon as I wrote it, I knew it would happen, I was gonna do one myself.

Talk about throwing a ball to someone's bat.

HEH, DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT BATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I thought JP3 was criminal. No need for that film at all. Not even as TV epsiode of a series.

Really, really lame.
At least it sounds like they're trying to do a little something different, plot wise.

Cheers Havoc! This is the script that I was vaguely describing and trying ot remember.

I think it is both ludicrous but hot and has potential for some exciting shit at the same time.

I liked JP3, until the climax of the film, where (apparently) the budget was depleted and the film ended so abruptly that you think "WTF?" I mean, I thought the military was going to show, and it was going to be a big ass showdown between them and all the dinos. But no, FADE TO BLACK.

Again, WTF?

Yeahm but there 3 fioms into the franchise and they have harldy touched on the rael potential story implications that this subject oculd have, they've just used it as an excuse to put eye canfdy on the screen, AND NOTHING MORE!!!!

I think that the story telling of this subject from 1 to 4 is just starting .

All I want from another Jurassic Park is an underwater sequence involving a one-man submersible, Plesiosaurus, Mosasaurus and some fucking mind blowing effects.

Not too much to ask is it?

EDIT - That script on the main page is very odd, some good ideas to begin with but the idea of a 5 dinosaur and 1 man hit squad is totally ridiculous.

If handled well, the genetic mutation storyline could be ok... but it just sounds so cheesy. One thing, I'm tired of seeing the dinosaurs isolated on the island. I think the book The Lost World ended with dino's on the South American mainland. Man trying to handle a rampant predator that's taking hold of the countryside and tearing up villages, killing children on town outskirts, so and and so forth could be terrifying.

The second book had those chameleon like dinosaurs that they left out of the film - now that would be cool, that was a great sequence/chapter.

Yeah, that bit was great. If they'd had just stuck closer to the original novel, TLW would've been a much better film. As it stands they split its ideas over two movies.

I agree on the potential of these films. As has been stated, there have been some great dinos and sequences left out. Underwater action would be nice. I just don't have faith in Spielberg. He wants to make family pictures, but he goes overboard with them.

As long as he's involved we won't be getting the Jurassic Park we want.

So this movie opens the doors for the dino private eye. As in Eric Garcia's un-Matchstick Men books, Anonymous Rex, Casual Rex, and Hot and Sweaty Rex. Oh boy!

Wouldn't start taking the piss out of this story just yet. I bet if it's done in the right way, or with certain angles taken on this idea to make it not so obvious, it might just work. Plus you don't know what happens in the story after it all goes wrong.

Ask him just what the final script is going to be. Who's making it. What kind of action sequences are we gonna see. Is it gonna be about Dino's in civilisation.

Also ask, how many times have people gone up to him and said, "Kneel Sam Neill. I said Kneel Sam. Sam! - Knnnneeeyeeeeeelll. Kneeeyeeeeeeel before Sam!!! Kneeeyeeeeeel before Sam Neill. Kneel before Sam. SAAAAAAAAMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well, OK. But I'll probably have to kneel.

Jesus, it's a good thing he's not a knight. Can you imagine the confusion if he was told "Rise, Sir Neill"?

I imagine he'd get into a lot of fights with Kings 'n' stuff when they said this.

"What do you want me to do? Rise, or kneel? Make your mind up?"

Could be a major scrap and fight going on in the court that day I tell you. You see, this is where it'd be a good thing for the Dino Mercs to come in.

I have one question for Sam concerning JP4...

Why?

Crichton does the same old shit rehashed. Westworld, Futureworld, Jurrasic Park.

Why would Sam Neil do this after some fantastic performances in other films and stage.

Rememer in the mouth of maddness?
