YAY!

But if I can't have that, I'll be happy as long as "THE HURT LOCKER" gets NOTHING.

Double YAY!!! Co-sign!! I concur!!

Fixed your post for ya.

Sandra Bullock wins Worst Actress Razzie

She even turns up to accept the award, brings DVDs of the film, tells the audience that she'll give copies of it to the members as she feels they didn't even watch the film. Not sure how much of her speech (also on video) is just a joke or how much of her is seriously pissed off behind closed doors.

Also Trannies 2 wins Worst Film. Battlefield Earth Worst Movie of the decade.

I don't think Sandra Bullock is secretly pissed off. She mentioned to Entertainment Weekly how funny she thought it was that she was nominated and that if she won she'd totally show up to accept the award. If she were sensitive about it, I don't think she would have acknowledged the Razzies at all (like I'm sure most actors and filmmakers don't).

What I think is cool is that she'll probably win a Razzie and an Oscar in the same year!

Ok, I admit, Trannies 2 wasn't a good film, but it was at least enjoyable as leave-your-brain-at-home action blockbuster. Other movies, like New Moon, are a blight to cinema, and deserved that Razzie a WHOLE lot more than Trannies 2.

As for the Sandra Bullock thing, that's actually pretty cool from her part. Accepting that she delivered a bad performance and even accepting the "award" for it certainly shows that she can make fun of herself or at least doesn't allow herself to be bothered by those who make fun of her and simply just goes with the flow. She's certainly earned a lot of respect on my part for that.

Hollywood needs Avatar (or possibly Up, I guess) to win the Best Picture Oscar. It's riding all its hopes in the future of movies being in 3D and that stamp of award approval would help it with its cause.

It would also be good for a scifi film to finally get some recognition, what with the genre having spent so many years propping up the industry.

Decades, you mean, all of the years of film history honestly... Metropolis, Le Voyage dans la Lune to begin with.

But I don't want Avatar to be that movie... District 9 I'd understand, just not Avatar!

Those guys from BriTANick are hilarious. I love their videos, and this one was no exception.

As for who wins the oscars, well, as long as Inglourious Basterds, District 9 or Avatar win, I'll be happy. If it's The Hurt Locker, I'll be satisfied. If it's Precious or An Education or A Serious Man, I won't say anything, since I haven't watched none of 'em yet. If it's Up, I'll be surprised, but think "I guess it's cool that an animated movie won best picture". If it's The Blind Side, I'll say "what the fuck? really?". But if Up in the Air wins, RAAAAAAAGE!

Also, does anyone else see the "originality" that makes The Hurt Locker's story be nominated for Best Original Screenplay? Because I honestly don't. The movie basically just played out like a documentary showing the shitty lives of these soldiers. I don't get what's so oscar-worthy about that.

It'll probably be on justin.tv later, keep in touch with me and FG (assuming he's planning on watching) I normally manage to find a stream of the Sky Broadcast which means you don't get all the terrible US ads for anti-depressants and shit and a bit of talk too

Cheers...

I'll watch the red carpet preamble on Sky1, it'll probably be horrendous - hosted by Claudia Winkelman or someone like that (as long as its not Davina!).

I'm drastically low on alcohol... which is band news when planning to watch the Oscars.

Beer has many useful purposes when Oscar-watching...

One can toast the glorious dead.

Or, one can match drunkeness with the front row actors.

But mainly it gives you something to focus on... like peeling the label... when some of the more embarassing song and dance routines start.

Baldwin & Martin? It could be very funny, or evoke memories of Sam Fox & Mick Fleetwood.

Not sure whether I can be bothered to watch it... It doesn't start for another two hours.

For anyone interested in eating red carpet - http://www.livestream.com/theoscars

Note that justin.tv has gotten much better at filtering out copyrighted stuff now, so the better streams will probably be elsewhere.

Well the quality of the film is definitely up for debate (and I think it has been throughout this thread), but the "original" part of the category just means it wasn't adapted from something that had already been made.

Due to the inadequacy of my home technology setup, I am unable to be on line while I'm watching TV. My computer and the TV are not in the same room! And it's too much of a pain in the ass to run a network cable into my TV room. So I might be here during commercial breaks, but that'll be about it.

Sky Coverage?

The one you linked to above is just for the red carpet I think and the only ones I can find on Justin TV are poor resolution US feeds, I don't know how long it's going to take to find one once the show starts

Well I don't wanna waste your time looking for ways to watch this and failing so I'll just say right now that I've been talking to my insiders at Fox productions who are based in Pinewood as well as the US as we've been talking about the new SW movies and tv series, but what they DO know already, as most production houses as well as some nominees themselves, is that Avatar IS going to win Best Picture.

Not sure about Director, but it's been said from their own connections to the Academy that this has already been cleared and announced as there's certain things that need to be confirmed regarding the night, for reasons of who really SHOULD attend or who should send a 'sorry I can't be there' video message, all of which needs to make obvious pre-emptive arrangements, therefore they need to know if they won or not.

So I hope this clears things up for you guys going to the effort to watch this broadcast so much.

As for the US Zoners, who have watched us UKers struggling to watch this ceremony and not lifted a finger to help, fuck you, fuck you very much. You know nothing you've made in the last 12 months is as good as Harry Brown. You gave us farking VALENTINE'S DAY forfuxake. Way to ruin a date, mate.

You know all this 'I wanna watch the Oscars and I'll go to great lengths to watch it' all stinks of Zoner classic hypocrisy, considering the jist of Oscar views, be it UK or US or otherwise is that the Oscars are shit and a farce as well as boring. Yet you're all gagging to see it so badly.

It may be pointless and the awards are heavily influenced by who spent the most money on their campaign but for me at least watching them live is a Tradition, been doing this for more than 15 years in a row (minus 1 or 2 and those that I've fallen asleep watching).
