At least AVATAR won visual effects. To me, that was one of four "locks" of the night, (Waltz, Monique, and Up for Animated film being the others).

The two scores by Michael Giacchino and Alexandre Desplat completely blew away the other nominees.

In fact, Giacchino should've been nominated for Star Trek too.

I hated the score for Trek. He wrote one theme and just played it over and over and over again. It was grating.

I need to see The Blind Side. I guess I've never taken Bullock as a serious actress, but that was a nice speech.
I was pulling for the girl from Precious - another movie I haven't seen, but I love the girl's story.

I hope someone other than Cameron wins director.... that stage isn't big enough for his ego now that Avatar is the Number One Film Of ALL FREAKING TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: And then showing Streisand crying during Bigelow's speech just made me want to punch her in the waddle.

Did Bigelow deserve it over Cameron? I'm not sure. Avatar's script was its real problem, but it was expertly directed. I doubt many people could pull off what Cameron did. But then, the Academy figures he got his due already, I guess.

I thought Bullock was honest, and it was a great speech. But I think even she realizes that she gave the weakest of all the Leading actress performances this year. I laughed when I saw her nominated, because I saw The Blind Side and I thought it was a badly cliched performance. But I also picked her to win, because she was "Oscar's sweetheart" this year it seems.

Weak sauce. D'Academy is probably just about as legit as the Teen Choice Awards. Although at least you can be certain those kids actually like the movies that end up winning. I know it was stupid of me getting my hopes up for Inglourious Basterds, District 9 and Avatar, but I guess I've watched too many Oscar bait movies where everything worked out all right in the end and everyone learnt a valuable lesson. Except in the actual Oscar ceremonies there's always a sad ending and no one learns anything, as they'll only go and pick the same forgettable movies next year.
