How can I best describe this film?

A western/revenge/thriller with poetic storytelling. It's a film that is both beautiful and brutal. The visuals are jaw dropping. The stunning cinematography makes you weep.
The vicious bear attack was very difficult to watch. I was clenching my teeth through the entire scene. Just brutal.

As for the performances, Leo is very good in this. Hardy is exceptional. He steals every scene that he's in.

This movie runs about 2 hours 36 minutes. I can't say that it felt that long. Excellent film.

But how was the bear rape?

I think you are getting this movie confused with Disney's Brother Bear.

I am really looking forward to this one. I'll catch it when it plays near me.

I also bought the bluray of THE BEAR (1988) and revisited it. I'd seen it once as a kid and it stuck with me. I had my doubts that it would hold up, but it did. It's a really special movie.

The cinematography in this movie was gorgeous. Emanuelle Lezbizbelinski should win all the awards.
