Music Videos

Seems there was a reason for idigi1t to go down, they were upgrading, and now they have finally launched their music video database...

http://www.id1g1t.com/s1/

...works the same way as the normal music version, just click the video link at the top, and search for you're favourite videos.

They seem to have thousands up already as far as I can tell, so feel free to reccomend little known gems, videos by you're favourite artists and directors, the latest boobie based masterpiece from Jessica Simpson, or straight from hell brain shrapnal from Tool...

...enjoy!

For information about the people who make the videos, you can go here...

What is the scoop on this site? Seems amazing that they have all of these albums and songs available to listen to. Is the hitch that they are all streamed?

Yeh, you can't download it. Still it's pretty ace. No Rabbit In Your Headlights' though.

Yeah they are all streamed, I originally got the link from a fashion Designer friend working in Ohio, I have no idea if the site has something to do with the company she works for.

Haha, that kicks arse. I love these all the surreal, montage based videos that are coming out lately, I wonder if it's all one guy/team or something?

AND KCBC, maybe I'm wrong, but you seem to have the most encylopedic knowledge of music out of anyone here, have you never though about working in the music industry? A DJ, or a journalist or something? You seem to have the chops for it.

Thanks flumm.

I just like a whole lot of genres/styles, but Brocktune, Dennis, St. Alphonzo and TonyWilson (among others) are all highly versed in musical lore as well.

For the people who can't set the videos to work, they're streaming on Realplayer for me, and I had to let my firewall give access to play it...

...if you haven't got Realplayer, I suggest using that, as it works very well for me, even though I'm an old system, and if you get any pop up messages from you're Antivirus/Firewall software, RIGHT AFTER you click the link, then allow it...

Thanks, KCBC. I'm fine up to about 1995. After that I'm pretty sketchy. Those mentioned, including you, definitely know more after that, and know far more about electronica, dance, etc.

athena, use Internet Explorer if you are using a Mozilla-based or other brower. The dicks in the world who have fallen to their knees in front of Microsoft often build sites that only work properly with MSIE. This appears to be one of them.

For instance: ymtnd audio doesn't play in Netscape.

If you haven't guessed, I use Netscape.

In my experience, Netscape loads more quickly and displays pages in a more attractive manner, so long as those pages aren't written to work specifically in IE. The Tech Guys at the library laughed at my preference. They talk up MSIE and made it our default browser, but I've never been impressed. I think it works well for some primarily because it's written so intrinsically into Windows.

Ah good call on Faith No More JL, do you remember what the last song they released was called? I think it was a cover, before they broke up, the Video was some club singer sitting at a bar and singing to an empty room. Anyone have any clues?

That's one of the very few things to bring tears to my eyes JL, I think it is because we see how this mighty and powerful man has been destroyed by age, something none of us can ever conquer.

Romanek deserves some points for that one, but from what I've heard it was because of his wife stading on the stairs to watch him that the whole Idea was born

Yeah John, it's kind of beautifull isn't it?

It's one of those things, that gets past a lot of the bullshit and emptyness that can come with music, and music videos, and just by doing something simple, open, and painfully honest, achieves something pretty humbling in my opinion.

God, that performance is beautiful. The video is all right, if overstated at times. Towards the end I was tearing up, especially seeing June Carter.

RollingStone.com (2003):

Cash's producer, Rick Rubin, sent a copy of the video to NIN's Trent Reznor. "We were in the studio, getting ready to work -- and I popped it in," Reznor says. "By the end I was really on the verge of tears. I'm working with Zach de la Rocha, and I told him to take a look. At the end of it, there was just dead silence. There was, like, this moist clearing of our throats and then, 'Uh, OK, let's get some coffee.'"

FYI: Those shots of Jesus were from a movie called "The Gospel Road," which Johnny cowrote, narrated and contributed music to in the early '70s. I've never seen it, but it's supposed to be a tad odd.
