The new single from TV On The Radio:

with a rather familiar voice helping out on backing vocals.

and speaking of sparkling indie-pop, my fave tune of the year so far in that particular sub-genre gets a video treatment!

Spoon, "The Underdog".

looks like one take, love the Mariachi horns and the too-bored-to-care look on the chick with the tambourine...

The album is great BTW, and a definite grower.

Aretha in full flight.......man, what a voice. What a song. What a performance.

Whatever happened to Bobbie Gentry, the genuine Greta Garbo of pop music? And was she really only 22 when she wrote this little beauty?

And very rare footage of Judee Sill, a bona-fide cult artist who deserves a far wider audience.

has someone been moonlighting?

Kano - "This is the Girl!"

it's not selling out, it's buying in!

hope the rest of the album isn't this influenced by U.S. hip-soul...

Absolutely lush video, dog.

You're bang on about the album too, been on heavy repeat here for a while, probably going to end up being a favourite of the year too I think.

Christ, Craig David has obviously been reading the R.Kelly R+B manual - bad move, LOL.

WTF is Kano thinking about? Money probably.

Stuff, as in more than one performance? Hell, he should do a 28-part version of "Chocolate Rain". Then have remixes of each part.

EDIT: Dammit. I'm gonna have this song in my head all night now...

Such a unique voice by today's standards.
It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, becomes of him.

dudes, seriously FUCK tay zonday!

now back to more important matters....

HERE is one of my favorite bands from the land of the rising sun. too bad this one didnt make it onto the american version of the soundtrack. one more thing about this video, i cant decide which i covet more, Miho, or her synth. but, i suppose, as the synth probably belongs to her, ill take ms. moribayashi. i love this band.

and one more for teh road for good ol' Keepcool, here is one of my favorite tunes from the lovely Takako Minekawa. the video is nothing to marvel at, but i do so love the song. and how about her hubby's trademark production values, eh?

enjoy.

Came across the video for Wisely's 'Through Any Window' this morning, and man, you gotta check it out.

It features my secret girlfriend Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) and a whole lotta Polaroids. Trust me - it'll blow your mind. Good stuff.

Frank Zappa explains why music is so shit nowadays. Personally I found the fact that the video bleeps masterbation, ass and white stuff far more amusing. WTF?!

Do you believe in what you see?

Zero 7 with "In the Waiting Line."

Someone go get unikrunk and burlives. That dude in this video may be related to ROM. Like a space cousin or something.

He does look a little bit like ROM, doesn't he? A little more boxy, I guess... like a ROM-prototype.

I think that video was fan-made, but it was actually pretty cool.

Glad you liked it! I had never heard of Zero 7 until just earlier tonight, and now I'm kinda hooked. It's so mellow. So I'm looking for more videos.

This one for "Destiny" is even more enchanting.

Hmm... that song sounds really familiar, but I can't quite place it. Not Another Teen Movie?

Zero 7 definitely seems to be a mood-setter. I think I might like that song (and video) better than "In the Waiting Line." Good stuff, thanks for the links buster.

Probably the best live version I've heard of the Floyd classic Comfortably Numb. David Glimour live in London in 2006 with none other than Bowie taking on the Roger Waters vocals. Check out Gilmour's guitar playing on this (and also catch David Crosby and Graham Nash right at the end).

DJ Shadow's superb High Noon with a video right out of David Lynch...

Portishead's new LP is due pretty soon (at last). Here's a live reminder why they're one of the best groups to come out of the UK over the past 20 years...
