i think the singing part of that song is why rappers eventually invented auto-tune.

also, the idea of holding a giant concert in the middle of times square while the city around you is being decimated by a giant monster doesn't seem like the brightest idea. i think if i was a ticketholder to that concert, i would understand if they decided to postpone the show to a later date.

Postponing wouldn't do any good.

The ultimate gimmick band! I predict that for their next video, they'll be in a surgical room having their limbs removed and reattached to each other while they sing their hipster music, with the cameraman being a deaf and dumb quadriplegic on meth.

But cool videos for sure.

Yeah, their music isn't particularly memorable (in my opinion); their career success is entirely thanks to their crazy single-take videos that go viral. But you've got to give it up to them for finding a bizarre niche and thriving in it.

They also did a rendition of this song ("To Anacreon in Heaven") on an episode of the Revolutionary War drama Turn. Compared to "The Star-Spangled Banner", it's quite the mouthful.

Akira themesong done up by some (famous?) piano player. If you can get past the opening "stomp"esque stuff, she's pretty talented and gets into it.

Wow, I should listen to Peven's music more often.

Here's one for "This Is America" by Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover, aka Young Lando), which has been garnering a lot of attention on the sosh meeds:

well, I guess the cat is out of the proverbial bag. you got me. I guess somewhere inside I always knew this day come, when the world would discover my alter ego, that while during the day i'm a whiter that white ASP working in the public school system when the Sun goes down I become a smooth singing Black mofo and light it up. I guess I'd have to say i'm relieved, keeping the secret was taking its toll on me and now I have nothing left to hide. :D

Boy you're not kidding, this video is all the rage right now. I think its catchy, but in my typical white-male-privileged way, I'm not 100% sure what the deeper meaning is that he's going for here. I'm completely distracted by his awesome dance moves. Which actually may be part of the message...'don't worry about all the violence going on behind me, just watch me dance!'

Donald Glover is a really intriguing entertainer.
