What do you think?

I was pretty happy with it. Not as good as their debut but still solid. Im going to see them this month, which should be fun.

A solid addition to their discography. My favorite track is "Things."

An archive Marillion live concert recording on BBC6 music. I really should be in bed by now, but I cant turn it off.
Im not even a marillion fan, but the joy of hearing Incommunicado, followed by Kayleigh, and then some other fantastic power ballads is rooting me to the sofa urging me to imbibe "just one more rum and coke." Its either captainsh morgansh doing it, or the music. Either way, I feeeeel good.

Anyhoo, for those curious enough, the gig will be on listen again until next saturday, somewhere on the bbc 6 music site.

Pleasth excuth me while i fill my glash....

Roomie and I were discussing how horrible music got in the late 70s, when talent and competence was replaced with punk and new wave and ugliness. Singers became proud of their inability to sing, musicians became proud of their inability to play, and the whole musical creative endeavor was taken over by money-hungry producers twisting knobs in the studio. Jeezus fuckin' Christ.

So I felt a need to go back to the fountainhead of rock, The Who. Who's Next is on. I'll probably follow it with Quadrophenia. Then maybe Live At Leeds. This is the kind of music that resuscitates my soul.

Damned fine choice. Have you got Townsend's All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes? Some very, very savory stuff on that vinyl. Well, shit... I have it in LP, cassette and CD formats.

Jay Dee seems to have almost as many albums coming out post death as Tupac.

Donuts is probably my favorite.

Im listening to the new Pocahaunted record Make It Real. I think it's the first Pocahaunted record since making it blog as Best Coast.

Some good almost droney lofi psychadelic rock. It almost feels like you take some modern ex-punks give them a bunch of acid and tell them to jam and record the results in a garage.

I'm listening to some Paul Weller tunes. I've only very recently discovered his music, both solo and with the Jam and Style Council.

that's good stuff

I just got Slash's "solo" album yesterday at my brother's suggestion. I'm on the fence about it, but I've only listened to like the first four tracks (including the one with Fergie which so far is my favorite)

Well, we ran into each other the other day and I'm happy to say we're in love and going strong.

I will!

As it turns out, I missed The Dead Weather and pretty much everything else. Friend of mine had too much to drink and I spent the evening taking care of her (and not in the fun tipsy co-ed kind of way, but more in the holding back her hair kind of way).

Missed everything...

fuck.

listening to Ted Kirkpatrick's IN THE SHADOW OF THE MASTERS. the song writer and drummer for the Christian heavy metal band TOURNIQUET drumming to some amazing pieces of classical music is i guess how you would describe this. kind of a fusion with some heavy drums to classical pieces

Die Antwoord's Enter the Ninja.

I"m totally digging their EP. It's catchy, vulgar, and ridiculous! Never thought I'd be bumping it to the Afrikaans for"Your Mother's gentleman in a Fishpaste Jar." (btw don't click on that it's gross.) Life, eh?

I hadn't heard any of their new album yet but that's good stuff. I feel like I should be doing lines of glitter at a roller rink.

And speaking of more disco-influenced goodness...I LOVE this Arcade Fire track from the Suburbs.

One of the last times St. Alphonso stopped by The Zone recommended The Bad Plus.
Here is their version of Rush's Tom Sawyer. For some reason I've felt inclined to spread this band and this particular song today.

It's a really solid album. Somewhere between Supernature and Seventh Tree in its style. All the tracks are good and a couple are great.

I also really like the track 'Alive'.

Definitely one of the best rap albums this yr, well the actual EP anyway though the mixtape is sweet too.

Whats your opinion on Die Antwoord? I havent been able to make my mind up on them. I can't tell if they are supposed to be parody or not. Or whether they should be adopting these personas at all. Regardless I think the music is pretty interesting.

Working away to some Jurassic 5 right now. Power in numbers.
And more than likely listen to The Fall - Your future, our clutter album AGAIN. Always liked them from afar in bits and pieces, but this latest album is fantabulous.
Beyond that, hmmmmm not quite sure, but will probably end up with some orbital. YOU LOT at least.
The ability to listen to music at work is an absolute godsend.

Although the name sort of makes them sound like a She & Him rip-off, Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley) and Jonathan Rice's side project, "Jenny & Johnny," has some pretty cool tracks:

And from The Temper Trap, who made "Sweet Disposition" (or that song that's been in 80% of commercials and previews since last year) comes the completely different-sounding "Fader":

Found a little thrash band called Halestorm a few weeks ago.

I'm a sucker for chick fronted rock bands anyway, but aside from the fact that the lead singer is teh hotness, they are actually pretty good for a genre that chews up and spits out bands every few weeks...
