"Right Back at You", Mobb Deep.

Makes sense that the most Wu sounding track off The Infamous would feature members of the Tang...what I don't ever recall thinking is that it's 'prolly better than anything off Wu-Tang Forever. Which might kinda come across as a backhanded compliment, but, c'mon, that was a double album and came out two years after The Infamous.

The beat don't sound like it much when it starts, but then that damn eerie gui-but-sounds-like-a-sitar comes strutting in, and just under it all a one-two-one-two bass punch carries the sinister tone-tome into your dome, homes.

Prodigy lays out the inner city urban gangster pulse, and then (maybe) the greatest rap duo in hip-hop history (Ghostface and Raekwon) show up for a hot verse.

and it's not even close to being the best track on the album...

I just heard Satan Said Dance by Clap Your Hands for the first time. Brilliance? I think so.

Pitchfork have two trackstoo.

I'm sure KC mentioned them the other day, but I can't find the post, I think the album is going to be pretty progressive based on these tracks, looking forward to it.

"Hey Boy", The Blow.

While their latest, Paper Television, is slowly growing on me, nothing on it comes close to the infectious hand claps, tub thumping bass, glitchy noise and slinky lines of "Hey Boy". Anyone (girlies in particular) can relate to the longing refrain, "hey boy/why didn't you call me?", but what I love is the questioning, the talk-silkily-sung private monologue of possible self/other foibles made public.

"Really, you just injured my pride", as good a reason for a song as any other...

You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go - Bob Dylan.

I miss Flumm.

But not Gaffney.

Seeing as I banned him.

I might unban him when I reach 10,000 posts.

Fugazi, Repeater.

speaking of which, some sage blogger posted The Complete Idiot's Guide to Fugazi, where you can downsteal a bunch of Fugazi tracks and read a halfway decent summation of their career so far...

Bob Dylan. Buckets of Rain.

-

Aaaaahhh, all those dreams it inspires me of, of a sunny long grassed field in countryside America, hanging out by a little stream, a tree, a swing, and lovely Ellen Page showing the 'cool waaaaaay, she looks at mee' as I make a complete prat of myself trying to be younger than I actually am, as the bright sunlight beams a soft hazy beam our way, catching the pollon and moths flying about in the air.

Now all we need to complete the perfect ensemble of horror, is to have Havoc turn up.

you should play her some Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge,
k.d. lang, Tegan and Sara, Le Tigre, Sleater-Kinney if you want to get her in the mood.

'course, she still won't go for you, but I'm sure she'll appreciate the effort...

Just stuck on Doves: Last Broadcast. Forgot how good it was.

Also last night stuck on Cardigans: Long gone before midnight.

In my view their best album. They took a break from their long term producer (no idea his name) for this, then apparently realised their mistake and have reconciled to work with him again after this album. To me this clearly is better than anything before it.

In the car - Black Sabbath or NPR. That is all the car wants to hear, I tired some Sonic Youth, but my gas mileage went way down.

In the unidome - the rotation is all over the place - some Tilly and The Wall, a little Al Green, a touch of B.I.G., Flaming Lips (at war with the mystics), and a pinch of Thee Headcoats

awesome song though.

apparently Kevin Shields is planning another MBV album... i reckon we'll see it it approx 2012, after he's spent millions recording on the fucking moon or something.
