What do I do with 30 iTunes bucks?

So I recently got a pretty dandy Christmas present: 30 bucks to spend on iTunes. I wanted to know if anybody had any recommendations of how I should spend the money. I think I've sorta already decided to save 3 or so to check out this Joanna Newsom character. But anyway, yeah: make playlists, iMixes, list CDs, songs, whatever. I'm interested in hearing what you guys think.

i think you should trade it all in for twice as much Canadian Tire money... that's where the real shit's at...

I got $80 worth of iTunes this year. Spent it on:

Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson - VH1 Storytellers
SUPERMAN THE MOVIE soundtrack
R.E.M. - Dead Letter Office
Stephen Lynch - Superhero
Patterson Hood - Killers and Stars
WIG IN THE BOX - HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH Tribute album
assorted other songs

Best Christmas gift this year.

$30 on iTunes, eh? i say, buy 30 songs from 30 different albums; singles and such from artists who have maybe a couple of songs you like and that's it. that's how i do it. if i want the whole album from an artist i really like, i still buy the whole CD from the local indie CD shoppe.

If it says "Drive-By Truckers" on it grab it.

Especially DECORATION DAY and SOUTHERN ROCK OPERA. Or THE DIRTY SOUTH.

Thank me later.

Damian Rice's "Delicate" and "The Blower's Daughter"
Pavarotti's "Nessun Dorma"
Colm Wilkinson "Bring Him Home" from Les Miz
"Point of No Return" from the movie CD of Phantom of the Opera
Russel Crowe (the actor) "Raewyn"
U2 "One" and "Beautiful Day"
The Corrs "Breathless"
Coldplay "Green Eyes"
Franz Ferdinand "Take Me Out"

Well, my choices anyway

Oooh Damien Rice. Good choice. I actually have his CD though. If you like those two songs, you might want to check out "Cannonball" and "Older Chests" as well.

Don't want to sound like a jackass (but if I do feel free to tell me), but did you hear about Damien Rice because of Dear Frankie?

No, actually, from Closer. His "The Blower's Daughter" just blew me AWAY in that movie and "Delicate" in Dear Frankie was just a happy bonus. I asked for this CD for Xmas but no one could find it so I'm going to use my Xmas money and order it myself. I haven't heard the rest of the songs (except what I can sample on Amazon) and I really want to.

I do have the Dear Frankie DVD and CD so I do get to hear "Delicate" whenever I want.

Why would that make you a jackass?

Can I be your friend? :D That list would work fine as a mix all by itself (a little eclectic, but the best mixes always are).

I haven't heard Dungen yet... but it's definately on my list. I'm currently obsessing on Wolf Parade and (for reasons I can't fully explain) The Katie Todd Band.

By the way, I still don't see your list on the 2K5 (with points) thread!!!

edit: Ha! I actually typed Wolf Creek... guess I'm in a horror state of mind.

Katie Todd Band?

i'm having some difficutly deciding on a top 10...it's a comin'.

well, with the proliferation of "indie" bands with Wolf in their title, i sorta understand. At least you didn't type Cry Wolf!

It's totally poppy, but I kinda dig it. Check it out:

Katie Todd Band - Face Down

That song keeps getting thrown into mixes for my friends lately.

Edit: I just heard Dungen's "Panda". He's got a very Deep Purple/Iron Butterfly kinda thing going on... nice!

How about you sell your ipod for a MP3 player that DOSNT charge you a buck a song...

Biggest fucking con job since Xbox demanded $30 to activate the DVD player on the system...

I got my mom a "NON" demoninational mp3 player

2GB, plenty of room for her, ANd i can just download songs from Limewire for her...

AND, it cost under a $150 for the thing to, and it includes an AM FM radio and its smaller than an IPOD.

Actually, iPod is technically non-denominational. You can upload .wav, mp3, mpeg, you name it. I haven't spent a dime in the iTunes store. I just download my CDs and sprinkle in some free downloads from the indie lables.

Limewire (if that's what you choose to do) files would work fine on iPod.
