I do love me my Stone Temple Pilots, but I've always wished they had the balls to stick with their original name, Shirley Temple's Pussy.

Now that's an STP you can be proud of!

Oh, and hell yes, Coldplay deserve everybody's hate. I can accept a band being poor at what they do, but I can't accept them being annoying and myseriously praised at the same time. Chris Martin has no talent. They make simlar weak drivel like Oasis seem edgy in comparison.

Young Shirley Temple, when she was in Heidi, or wrinkled old Shirley when she was some political figure?

listen to the song "computer love" by Kraftwerk off of their album "The Mix". then, immediately afterwards, listen to "Talk" by coldplay.

I do like some Coldplay, but I had no idea how right you were until I heard "Computer Love." "Talk" is practically an unofficial cover. By the way, the Kraftwerk tribute CD 8-bit Operators kicks mucho ass.

I miss Brocktune... :P

excellent point Pudie.
and i, for one, am NOT willing to go and search out the new/good music.
i'm just too lazy.
i like to listen to what i already know and love.
Do i hate MTV? yeah, sure i do, because THEY don't try and find the new great music. Did they go find new great music in the 80s/90s? Probably not, but it certainly felt like they were more cutting edge 'back in the day'. at least they had programs for specific fans (Headbangers ball/yo MTV raps etc) that allowed them to explore what wasn't necessarily mainstream.
were the fuck was i going with this????
oh yeah, i hate Green Day.

Coldplay. No doubt in my mind.

Why? Because I can handle truly awful music. It's funny. What I can't handle is bland shit? It makes my ears bleed to be subjected to music that is so bland, so devoid of any soul or emotion, that I want to go down to HMV and start using the fuckers CDs as frisbees till I get forcibly removed by security.

'Clocks' is bad enough (heard that fucking song 300 times in 2003 and it progressively got worse), but the later stuff is so devoid of any sense of quality.

Im sure this has been mentioned allready but...

Linkin -ass bags- Park

When I was doing college radio I guaranteed my listeners Linkin Park free shows. For shame whoever put my beloved Pumpkins on that list.

I had to vote other, because although Nickelback is arguably the worst band on the poll, there are worse out there.

I give you Hootie and the Blowfish as the grand-prize winner of worst band of all time (not including 99% of 'local' bands in the world)

My problem with Greenday is and always has been their lead singer, Billy Joe Jerk Off. Singing in a faux british accent does not make you punk... it makes you cliche. Especsially when you're from San Francisco.

Smashing Pumpkins would be a lot better without Billy Corgan. I mean, ok, let him write their songs, but please God don't let him sing. Keep him far away from microphones. Keep him far away from human ears. His voice induces nausea and vomiting and should be classed as a weapon of mass destruction, or at least put in the same category as bubonic-plague-carrying ticks.

Ugh. My ears are starting to bleed just remembering hearing him "sing".

Shut up, Billy. Please, for the love of God, shut up.

Creed has to be the worst band of all time, but at least they've done one decent thing in their career: break up. same can't be said for nickelback.

i will always have a deep and abiding hatred for the dave matthews band. actually, really just for dave matthews himself. if i never have to hear that awful squeaky voice of his again, i'll only be too happy.

puddle of mudd is a terrible band with an even worse name.

linkin park is the most overplayed band in the history of radio. seriously, ever single song they do sounds exactly the same, and yet radio stations can't help but play them over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. i hardly ever listen to regular radio these days, but on the odd occasion i do, they're still playing linkin park. stop. please.

For the DMB haters is it really the band (if so, why?) that you hate or is it the people that stereotypically love and have loved the band over the years?

For me, I dig the band. I think they're incredibly talented musicians and I would list their drummer in my Top 5 Favorite Drummers.
But I hate... HATE the audience of the band. To see some kid coming from wealthy means wearing what seems to be a simple outfit of a t-shirt and khakis... but a closer look reveals the brand names and the apparent $300 outfit cost... the same kid likely belongs to a fraternity (closer look reveals that his tattered baseball cap shows the Greek letters of his fraternity)... rich frat boy likely has a hemp necklace that cost someone less than $2 make, but he paid $20 for it.... in each hand The Rich Frat Boy carries a Budweiser (God 's Beer) or a Bud Light (because, like... he's watching his figure, yo). Frat boy's eyes are bloodshot both from the copious amounts of shitty beer he's consumed and the 3 hits of the schwag joint he and his brothers were smoking (they think it's Blueberry crossed with White Rhino, straight from B.C. ..... but it's really just some ditch weed that was affixed to some guy's engine block when he came up from Mexico). At some point, Fratboy comes stumbling over, loses his balance and spills most of the contents of his beers upon you. Upon seeing the look of utter disgust you emit, Fratboy provides the Kiss Of Death as he utters the line "Awww 'Bro'.... it's all good".

That fucker. His friends. And the tramps that follow them are the reason I detest the Dave Matthews Band.

I dig their music. I just hate their scene.

Well, their music sucks, IMO. They may be a great band but Dave Matthews himself sounds like a muppet. I'd like to put a firecracker down his throat. He's like the male version of Leanne Rhymes.

I had to go with Nickelback...

I went to a festival some years ago now that they played at, they are the gods of cheese...

The lead singer (chad?) came onto the stage with a videocamera and asked the audience to shout 'Nickelback f**king' rocks... I would say that about three people said it and everyone else looked around with bright red faces feeling terribly embarressed...

Their pyrotechnic display filled the stage with so much smoke we thought it had actually caught light, and then they played some kind of feeble Jam session and Chad turned to the crowd at the end and shouted "I'm real sorry guys, but sometimes you just get a riff" yes Chad sometimes you do... and on this occaision it was a real shitter...
