If any one is interested in musicals....

I would just like to say that in about 6 months there should be a buzz about a musical which has toured America and England.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of it and what they thought?

http://www.saucyjackandthespacevixens.com/

Thats the official website, it was on in London recently with Faye Tozer from Steps (If there are any fans here).

The reason Im asking is just to get a general feel for what people think as I directed, and am in the middle of editing the stage film musical version (second time round). I wanted to see if its the right time to be pushing it, it seems to be.

Hopefully in about two months it will be touring round producers and directors in Hollywood (fingers crossed).

BTW, should shout out to Colonel_lugz on this as he helped out on cameras. Cheers pal!

Maybe, if I talk to my boss, I could upload some shorts at some point for people to see, if I get good feedback.

Does this belong in the struggling filmmaker room?

Possibly, can I move it?

I thought it was news personally but if people feel differently then I'll delete it.

a mod should be able to. PM John-Locke, he's the mod in charge of the Movie News forum.

After having a brief look through the other forum I think it belongs here.

This already is a well established musical, ok, not like Chicago or anything, but the money is at hand, I just wanted to see what people thought and if they'd seen it.

Just went to the website, sounds....fun and weird. There's definitely nothing like it around in the musical world that I know of.

Actually, have you ever heard of starmites?

Yeah...thats what I thought when I came across it a few years ago.

The greatest thing about the musical is that it acts like Cabaret and you can get sozzled and smoke during the show. By the end of it you are up dancing.

Everytime we went on a reconnaisance mission to watch the show, we came of steaming drunk. One night we even got stopped by the police because a bus driver wouldnt let me get on the bus with my bike.

Damn that was funny.

I think the songs are on the website too so have a listen if you get the chance. You could equate the show to being like a Futuristic, Techno Disco version of Rocky Horror but less surreal.

Dark Knight. Tell me more about Starmites? Any links?

Here's the "official website" for Starmites

http://www.starmites.com/

I'm sure they're completely different but it's the first thing I thought of when I read about this. The whole techno disco version of Rocky Horror is cool pitch line though.

I got tons of pictures of the show. I'll put them up when I get the chance, you can see what the setup looks like.

Hope you found the songs ok.

The MD of the show will be happy to hear you liked the pitch.
I think its the right time for this to come out because musicals are being snapped up left right and centre. Could be the only chance for this.

Love the name of the other musical though....Starmites...sounds extra cool

Right! I just checked out Starmites. Liked it alot. The music is excellent, shame the quality of the recordings are poor, would like to hear the real crowds singing along like in the actual show.

Its definately going to LA for Screening in a few months but where it goes from there is anywhere. Its got a cult following in Hollywood so Im hoping someone will buy into it so I can work as an Assistant Producer or Director. Need to learn how the LA buzz scene works, its much more relaxed in the UK.

Plus its also in the West End which shows it works.

You know what kind of musical I'd like? The kind of musical where a professional sports team from Seattle actually won the big fucking game. A musical where we, for once, got to have the victory parade.

Holy shit I'm taking over the Zone with anger and sadness.

Whedon...hold me.

"Sleepless in Seattle: The Musical"

with numbers such as "Dirge of the Defensive Line", "Once More Without Feeling (In His Hands) aka "The Jeremy Stevens Song"", "Hocus Focus (Damn Refs!)", "Springtime for Holding and Pass Interference", "2 Minute Drill Blues", "Antwan Randel-El, SUPERSTAR!" and the "Magic Bus".

oh wait, you said a Musical where you guys win..."Fantasy Island, The Musical"!

Actually, this belongs in the Shameless Self-Promotion Room, since the artistic material involved is a live performance rather than film.

I knew you would enjoy that. I took off the credits cos it looks better without them and I just love the end of the show.

i did a search for musicals and the only non-film musicals thread i could find was this one, so....

Hedwig on Broadway featuring Neal Patrick Harris

i've never been to a broadway musical before. i'm thinking of making this my first.
