Name That Song

Sigur Ros is the greatest living band. Discuss.

Orright, this one is new, though it sounds like a 'nugget', one of my favourite albums this year
(speaking of KCBC, where's our Albums of the year thread?)

'Baby I'm the rising sun
Clutching at your holstered gun
Baby I'm a shooting star
I'm looking wherever you are

Looking through a telescope
Maybe there's a sign of hope
Leaving everything behind
Discovering your store bought mind'

or you can tackle Kirk's (preferably with full force)

I think that this is called - 'I feel like a child' although tape got the artist so go right on ahead...

Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning (and no...I wasn't talking about Kirks' song).

Man, if tapey's fading I'm already faded. Must think of lyrics....

OK:

Sometimes I fantasise
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Dont these times fill your eyes

(Heh heh, I'm loving all these clues by the way).

When i first came on here many moons ago, i was having a bit of a chat about terrible music and they linked me to loads of William Shatner cover versions and i literally sat here in tears at brilliant it was... The same experience can be enjoyed if you listen to Ivor Cutler...

Put it this way, if you walk around shops and malls and supermarkets and listen to the radio or go out to nightclubs where they still play slow music where you can cheaply snog some drunken old hot tart, then you're bound to hear it. but only at this time of the year.

Oh and put William Shatner into your P2P searches guys. You'll find great short gems amongst the more known ones, such as I Wanna Sex You Up, The Real Slim Shady, and Bust A Move etc. Shorts for Priceline.com who he advertised for. He also ges to snog a green Carmen Electra in a Seven parody.

I kinda think it counts as Boston getting it, seeing as how I had no idea til he jogged my memory. Ah well:

ay, ay, ay, ay a,y
ay mi amor
ay mi morena
de mi corazon

me gusta tocar guitarra
me gusta cantar el sol

Just tell me if you want to add some more of the lyrics.

Los Lobos Cancion del mariachi

I'm quite the fan.....

Brosandi
Hendumst í hringi
Höldumst í hendur
Allur heimurinn óskýr
Nema þú stendur

Rennblautur
Allur rennvotur
Engin gúmmístígvél
Hlaupandi inn í okkur
Vill springa út úr skel

Vindurinn
Og útilykt af hárinu þínu
Eg lamdi eins fast og ég get
Með nefinu mínu

The motorway won't take a horse
The wanderer has found a course to follow
The traveller unpacked his bags for the last time
The troubadour cut off his hand and now he wants mine

Oh no, not me.

The circus girl fell off her horse and now shes paralysed
The hitchiker was bound and gagged, raped on the roadside
The libertine is locked in jail
The pirate sunk and broke his sail

But I still have to go
I've got to go, so here i go
I'm going to run the risk of being free

The magicians secrets all revealed
And the preachers lies are all concealed
And all our heroes lack any conviction
They shout through the bars of cliche and addiction

So i've got to go
I've got to go, so here i go
I'm going to run the risk of being free

And in this drought of truth and invention
Whoever shouts the loudest gets the most attention
So we pass the mic and they've got nothing to say except:
"Bow down, bow down, bow down to your god"
Then we hit the floor
And make ourselves and idol to bow before,

Well i can't
And i wont
Bow down
Anymore.

No more

Patrick Wolf... Wind in the wires???? I think that's the album though...

It's THE LIBERTINE isn't it????

And just in case that's correct...

And into this life we're born
Baby, sometimes we don't know why
And it goes by so, oh so fast
It's like the twinkling of an eye

Let's enjoy it while we can
Little darlin' come along
Take my hand into that sunny land

Yeah I knew it was a talking heads song when I first saw the lyrics, but for some reason I changed my mind afterwards. Born Under Punches!

Anyway a gas station we passed
We got gas and went on to get grub
It was a nice little pub in the middle of nowhere
Anywhere would have been better
I ordered enchiladas and I ate 'em
Ali had the fruit punch
When we finished we thought for ways to get back
I had a hunch
Ali said, "Pay for lunch"
So I did it
Pulled out the wallet and I saw this wicked beautiful lady
She was a waitress there
Put the wallet down and stared and stared

Everybody wants to know the truth
In my arms is the only proof
I've hidden my heart behind the bedroom door
Now it's open I can't do no more
I'm telling you baby you will never find another girl
In this heart of mine

... It's a classic
