iTunes 7.0 - WARNING!

Postby burlivesleftnut on Sat Aug 20, 2005 1:48 pm

Today, trying to avoid homework, I finished up a project I started 6 months ago. Every single one of my 5038 tracks in iTunes has now been rated. I feel like I have accomplished something important.

For some reason I find it very comforting to know that I can go my library, hit play, and I'll have music for 25 straight days. (As opposed to 25 g@y days of course)

Have you also grouped and placed them into their respective genres as well?

LCD Soundsystem's "Jump into the Fire" leads my play count, followed by "Single Again" from the Fiery Furnaces and "10 Dollar" by M.I.A.

Yeah they are all in the correct genres, although it needs to be tweaked a little. Years and tightening the genres are me next projects.

First on the list when sorted by Rating (descending):

Worlds Apart by ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead

Bottom of the list:

The Gambler by Wyclef Jean w/ Kenny Rogers

But once you sort them, it gives a secondary sort by name, so whatever.

I actually liked the Gambler when I first heard it on Alias, but then you listen to Kenny sing and he's talking about turntables and shit. It didn't make sense, so I said FUCK THAT STUPID SHIT.

when Art Alexakis played "Your Make Me Feel Like a Whore" at his little girls kindergarden he changed the lyrics to You Make Me Feel Like I'm 4.

Eels "My Descent into Madness" is off of Electro-Shock Blues. As is "Going to Your Funeral", "Efil's God", and most of the other Eels songs you don't have an album title for.

My fave Eels song is "Last Stop:This Town" off the same album.

3475 Beautiful Brown Eyes [#] Burl Ives Greatest Hits
HA-HA!
4304 Christmas Can't Be Far Away Burl Ives Have A Holly Jolly Christmas
OK, that's just disturbing now. Is that the very same Burl Ives whose nut we've seen?

DJ Shadow, "Red Bus". Where the hell did you find that?

Funeral is an excellent album.

The song "Wake Up" is what Godspeed You Black Emperor would sound like if they actually made songs instead of epics.

I have way more Burl Ives than that.

Anyone happen to see Frank Black's celebrity iMix on iTunes? It was both hysterical AND gratifying for me.

ENTIRE!! albumcollectionofall OF! WILLIAM, SHATNER'S SOOOOOONGS!!!!!!!!!!!

since Burl, god bless his old "bear" fetish self, has abondonded us, I've retitled this thread and posted this message to strongly admonish PC users to NOT, REPEAT, NOT download the 7.0 version of i-tunes.

Buggy like a shit house rat.

The new version has been, as The Flirtations so eloquently put it, "Nothing but a heartbreak everyday". It takes up WAY too much cpu power, I've received constant "i-tunes needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience" messages, and the software is just plain glitchy.

You've been warned...

"On Sept 12 2006, Apple launched iTunes 7, Apple had described iTunes 7 to be "most significant enhancement" since the software's 2001 debut- however the software received early complaints from its users.

The reported bugs include and not limited to: reported sound distortion, songs skipping, sluggish performance, 3-second delays in playing tunes and lost tracks. In addition, some users reported they were unable to download songs from the iTunes store or were losing songs they had previously downloaded from iTunes Music Store.

Other criticism has arised from problems with crashing under Windows Vista, although iTunes 7 is not officially compatible with Windows Vista anyway."

What I tend to do is transfer all of my iPod songs onto a memory stick, and then transfer them from the memory stick onto iTunes. I've done that several times and it's always worked, although a handful of songs sometimes get lost in the process.

My girlfriend ran into the same problem and I found a program for her: ephpod. It's not it's main purpose, but it's a nifty feature, and it worked like a charm.

There's a website with a tutorial on how to do it and also offers advice for Mac users.
